Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball $19.99 NEW ebgames.com
i wonder if it's PH?
i was wondering that too, guess i'll see when my copy comes in ( it was already shipped too)

some game designers work on rag doll dead body physics, others choose to put emphasis on other specific parts...

I played the game when it first came out, and found it quite the opposite. It seems a little homosexual. Sure, there are scanitly clad woman with bouncing boobs. But the great emphasis in the game is buying bathing suits, accessories, and the like.

It's too much like going to the mall with a girlfriend; I'm just not into that stuff.

I just noticed that as well, canceled my EB order and ordered it off of Gamestop to get the free shipping, 'cause I'm such a cheapass! :)

the guy who ordered from gamestop, does yours come with that lenticular card thing?

and can anyone confirm that it has a PH cover now?

dating sim if its considered a girl on girl dating sim where they dont date but just work to get their volleyball game better... u play as one of the girls, not any of the guys.

Cool . . . Icons (G4-TechTV) had an episode about Dead or Alive on last night . . . I was just thinking about checking on this game!

Plus, here's a use for my $20 rebate on Neo Contra (from before Xmas).

Hmm. I notice Gamecrazy, Software and my local EB all had copies of DOA:XBV for $19.99, although I didn't see any copies being Platinum hits. Looks like this got a reprint, and it's possible it went PH.

It's an interesting game but definitely not for everyone. If you're looking for a serious volleyball game, you're going to be disappointed. Still for $20 new, you won't be losing too much by checking it out.

I thought this was a pretty good game. I didn't expect to like it. The actual volleyball is good, though it's not deep (can you really have a deep volleyball game?). Despite the cheescake intro and cut scenes, I've heard this is a good game to get female friends playing...

I actually think this is a solid game!!
It is a little simpler than say Beach Spikers but it is very well done. People just tend to focus on the women than the game!!

Seriously folks. Is this really a game? I mean I hear the term "Game" thrown around in this thread but is it really a game?

It's a well documented fact that they outsource certain parts for that high level or "mesmerization". :)

Xevious think a SI swimsuit issue with a volleyball.

I've noticed that lately too when I'm thinking about buying something used and low and behold find out it's cheaper new.

No, on the Gamestop website it didn't say anything about this, but I just wanted the game for cheap so I got it from Gamestop instead.

From Ebgames.com:

Order from EBgames.com and receive one of several exclusive lenticular cards that can be used to replace the original box cover. The lenticular images feature the girls of DOA in action sequences, and the images appear to move as the cards are turned. One card per box. Choice of card not available.

I ordered from EBgames.com and didn't get a lenticular card, unless it's packaged in the game case itself? I haven't opened it yet. Anyone know if it's in the case or if it's an extra item EB throws in for free?

EDIT:

http://www.tecmogames.com/press/releases/01.21.03.pdf

Nevermind. It's inside the case according to Tecmo.

No. According to the press release, the L-cards were only to be in the initial first shipment of the game, so they shouldn't be in a PH version.

So, who here has bought one of these?: ;)

Smart move on Tecmo's part to put it back into reproduction if this is the case.. people pay a high price for this game on Ebay. I sold my copy a month ago for about 55 bucks, and now I really don't regret it.

Now if Sega would get the hint on some of their games.. (cough cough, Rez and Shining Force 3.....)

I do not see how EB games can say you will get the Lenticular card since there is no way to distinguish which packages have them and it was supposed to only be the first run of the game. I know when DOAXBV was released, a lot of people did not get the cards at that time so it was always just the luck of the draw.
Would it be right to assume that this is Volleyball with a tiny bit of dating-sim on the side?
No, not really. I rented it a bit ago, 20 bucks is still too much for me, for this particular game.

It's an excellent game for a girl who's not into games and loves to shop, and I don't mean that in a sexist way (there's gonna be girls that don't like this game because they dont like to shop). If your GF or sister loves shopping, they're going to dig this game. It's pretty mcuh a casino game, with a little bit of volleyball on the side and friend making. You don't interact with the girls as a guy or yourself like in a dating sim. It's more you are the girl, and you're trying to give and get gifts from the other girls, trying to make friends basically. The better the friendship the cooler / more exotic the gifts.

It really is a vacation game for the DoA girls...they're on vacation at zacks island having fun with eachother (mind out of the gutter).

It's kind of entertaining, but it's far too femme for me. And I'm a fairly effeminate guy when it comes to clothes and friendships. Really, think of the game as playing with dolls that are animated...because thats pretty much how it works out - and instead of using your imagination, the place and happenings are alreaedy laid out for you. You just have a small say in how things pan out.

The volleyball game itself isn't that involving really, it's a small portion of the game, a friendly tournament that goes on for a number of days (and you are limited to the actions you can take in a day too). As far as the games go we have here in the west, its a fairly original experience. If you're lookin for a volleyball game though, Get Outlaw Volleyball. It's much more arcade/volleball oriented and hilarious.

man before this game was reprinted, i had so much trouble finding the game and finally found it at FYE used (but in mint condition) for $20. but it didn't have that lenticular card thing. and that's whats tempting me to buy the game again =/

anyone willing to part with their lenticular card?

You're right. I just opened my copy. No L-card. Methinks EBgames.com needs to reword the item description. Word to the wise for those who think they're getting the L-card when ordering from them.

same here I ordered two copys of the game to get the L-card. & collect.

Just open it up there is no card inside the boxes.

Fukken ebgames.com..... just like the last time i didn't get my free tenchu t-shirt when ordering return to darkness....
