There was a computer error this morning that caused new copies to go to $0.00 (it'll be fixed by tomorrow, and even if it's not, the employee has to manually price it to 59.99).. anyway, used copies of Dead Rising are 24.99. I dunno if that was part of the error too, but I grabbed a copy.

Here's why I think it rang up at 49.99...

When we scan a games barcode we're scanning the original barcode most of the time which is the barcode for a NEW product. If we have the game used a message pops up saying we have a used copy and we hit f1 to bring that copy up in the POS. We hit f2 to bring it up onto the screen, it adds tax, and then you pay. If their inventory is screwed up then the POS might not have a used copy of DR in the in its inventory, so the "we have this game used" message never came up. So when this employee scanned it, it brought up the new copy, which is in the computer right now as $0.00 which he would manual up to whatever the sticker on the box said. That's the only way I can see this ringing up at that price.

Unless he's an idiot, saw it at 24.99 in the comp, and thought the sticker that they never changed on the box is the right price.

A good way to check if my theory is right is to look at your reciept and see if the game you bought says "PV-Dead Rising" or something like that. If it has the PV in front of it then he did sell you a used copy and (like an idiot) jacked the price up to 49.99. If it has no PV in front of it then he sold you a new copy in the computer, even though he gave you a used one.

hell yeah! thanks ton's op!

scored one brand new for $20!

ok here's my story.

went to gamecrazy to see if i could find a used copy and sure enough there was one left. but when i went to pay for it the clerk couldn't find the disc. so i was like damn no dice. but then he comes back with a brand new unopened copy and sells it to me for $20 plus throws in a free year of MVP membership too!

coolest game crazy clerk in the world.

i'm totally stoked! thank god for this site!

ok so just checked the reciept, actually he just charged me $20 for the MVP membership & nada for DEAD RISING.

but next to dead rising there's a "X3 SALE"
anyone know what that stands for?

Like I stated before... Dead Rising brand new is $0.00 in the computer. He put it on the transaction so inventory stays consistent and left it at $0.00. You got a free copy of Dead Rising my friend.

This thread is funny, but I don't know what all of the hubba-alloo is. We all know that this game is destined to go PH sooner rather than later. Get a new copy with non-PH banners for 24.99 from BB with GGC...in less than a few weeks.

oh ok.
well gamecrazy certainly has my business now, thats for sure.
can't wait to try out the mvp card next purchase.
never had one before.

That's actually not a bad idea (free DR but charge for the MVP), but i'm willing to bet that that clerk won't be around that store much longer...

Depends... If the manager is sketchy like that too than I'm sure the employee will be fine. If the DM catches it then I'm sure the employee will be gone.

the DM in our district could really careless and 95% of the Smgrs are shifty as all hell. I'm sure not all districts are like this but I work in one of the top ranking stores in the company and my manager is very shifty. We can expect that DR to be fixed in the POS by thursday i'm sure.

The store is like 20 minutes away so I'm not really anxious to drive out there, but if there's maybe something I could do over the phone to get it adjusted, that would be great...

Grabbed one a few days ago at 24.99 (marked 49.99 on the shelf). I'm really enjoying it! I'm surprised, since I wasn't too impressed with the demo I've played.

I know the employees at my GC are huge game collector nuts, so they were all very well aware of the price drop before I even laid the game on the counter.

Just picked up the last copy at the Naperville, IL site. I'm praying that the co-op is true, if not back to ebay.

A phone call probably wont do much. This proves the guy marked the price up. Tell them to pull out their daily discount report from that day. Tell them to look up the transaction number on your reciept (5 digit # on the bottom left) and check if the guy increased the price on it. I'm almost postive the daily discount report should say if he did. I know it shows if anyone marked any prices down but I'm not sure if it shows prices were edited up. Good luck with that. Once proven they'll return the game for you and sell it back to you at 24.99 and give you the rest back. If they're dicks then take it even further to the DM or to the phone number 18SPEAKTOUS.

I went to a GC today and saw like 5 copies of Dead Rising Used... and suspected something was up. I asked the clerks if they could check how much a used copy of Dead Rising was in the system, and without looking, they said they knew already about the "glitch" and was not going to sell the game to me for $25. They then told me a story of a guy who came in and tried to buy like 15 copies at like $25, but they wouldn't let him either. Geez.

I thought I might have better luck at a GC across town. When I asked the clerk, he was like, "24.99? Wow... that can't be right." At first we couldn't find the case for the game, but after talking to him, he said I was welcome to just walk in whenever and grab a blank case if I could find it. I was extremely skeptical, but in the end, he still sold me the game.. just without the cover. At that point of time, my girlfriend spotted a case, and he let me take it, so all was well after all. :)

I guess I was lucky. :)

Uhhh a glitch? There was a printout that any retard can read saying "Price changes: Dead Rising - 24.99 Used. People baffle me.

The glitch refers to Dead Rising and Star Trek Legacy ringing up 0.00 new. I'm guessing people thought that the used price was a glitch, too. It's not, because the trade-in value also went down. DR is indeed 24.99 and should be sold at that price. My store has 2. My store's crazy for turnarounds.. we already have a used GRAW2, used MLB2K7 and 2 used Def Jam Icon's.. it's crazy

But yeah, There were a lot of issues with the New Price being .00 and the used being 24.99. If I remember correctly, the bug is still there too.

I was off today but I'm sure we have a used Def Jam in. Im probably trading my copy of GRAW2 in next week as soon as I beat it. Which I hope is next week as I plan to get TMNT. I got it from the Fry's deal So I'll be losing like $1 with the 20% trade bump for my TMNT pre order.

We got a used Crackdown 2 days after release and a used VF5 the day after release. Some people need to make wiser selections on what they buy. Not saying those games suck, because they don't, but fuck man rent it before you lose half the value you paid for it. I picked up a used Oblivion last year, the day after it's release. The guy who traded it in said "Dude I thought it was going to be like Halo! it's some kind of Medievil game or something."

I think that's the most common question when someone sees a new 360 game has come out.

Customer - "What's the newest game on 360?"

Me - "GRAW2 and Def Jam: Icon have just come in this week."

Customer - "Are those like Halo?"

Me - "Well uhhh in GRAW you shoot stuff but not like the way you shoot stuff in Halo and Def jam..."

I also try to avoid phrases like "Tactical shooter" because most people who come in don't even know what tactical means. I'm serious. Funny thing is most customers are NAVY guys and they are some of them slowest dudes ever. Surprised?

Man I always rant at night.

I still have my GRAW2 unopened, I may return it and just rent it in a week or two.

Or I may just keep it, there's literally nothing I want coming out for at least two months...

its nice that they knew about the price drop but couldn't take the two seconds to go over and resticker it.

and for scorch and ricky my store has 3 copies of crackdown two copies of def jam, one nba street homecourt, I have stopped buying games I just use my coupons from all the systems that I have bought in the past year (12 free rentals w/ system purchase for all of you that don't know) and rent them over and over until they are free then just check them out again when they are due. I am doing that with Crackdown until after halo 3 and I also have ghost recon (about to return it) and Gears. I usually only keep two out so that I can rent the pre release movies.

oh and back on topic we have one copy of Dead Rising I am still contimplating getting it I have a problem with buying back games that I already traded in, I never actually beat the game I just got tired of the save system and I had so many others but 19.99 (employee discount) for DR is hard to pass up

I try to do that with my rentals but somehow I always forget them and I get late fees. Plus I like buying games. It's an addiction. I re-bought DR for 19.99. I couldn't resist. I'm wondering if I should snag SC DA for the same price right now. But I just bought God of War 2, Top Spin from BB for 19.99, GRAW2, Nba Street, and DDR. Aye. Sometimes I feel like I need more games to play and then I pick some stuff up and my backlog ends up killing me.

my backlog is killing me too. I have a couple sealed 360 games just waiting to be played. Im thining of picking this up when it becomes coop but not sure if i can find a good deal then.

My copy of dead rising seems to keep popping up an error message... can i return it to any gamecrazy or does it have to be the same location? Same question on the credit they issue - does it have to be the same location?

Same location would be ideal.

I do that with some games, but if it's cheap enough (like Dead Rising), i'll buy it because I figure that I won't work there forever. I do the same thing regarding prestreets (i'll have two games rented out then go in and get a prestreet then return it without having to return the games since it's on seperate tickets). Do they make you guys wait two weeks for games? One local store is 2 weeks, the other one is a month for games. Weird. I know games go free every Saturday, I think this past Saturday Homecourt went free so I need to rent that.. I dunno why I bought Def Jam, I could've waited until it's free. I may trade that in then return GRAW2.. GRAW2 was an impulse buy.. hell, I dunno, every game is free to rent..

Let me ask you this, did your stores get rentable copies of Just Cause? Mine didn't. I had to buy it.. then traded it back in. I'm waiting until it goes cheap, but it seems that they didn't press the 360 version in high amounts, so I may have to bite the bullet in the $30-$40 range.

Why buy 15 copies at $25 each? They don't resell for much for then that on ebay and GameRush has new copies for $30.

EGM rumored that when the coop stuff comes out, it'll be a plat hit with the new stuff included. It'll be on Live as well but for a price. But, it's a rumor so take it for what it's worth.

I have no idea.. maybe he was an amazon reseller or something. Lowest used price on Amazon is like $40 right now.
