I went to eb and took me preorer off this game. The guy behind the counter was trying to talk me out of it. Which is'nt normal from my eb employees. They're pretty much laid back and don't care. But if its that good I'll rent it. Plus I have store credit stacked from the trade 3 for an extra $10 bucks.

Do you always let other people make decisions for you?

The sheer amount of people here that refuse to go and play games for themselves and/or blindly follow the media coverage and other people's opinions (who may or may not have played the game) disturbs me.

Despite his name, Keiji Inafune clearly isn't the wary type, opting to appear in public tomorrow and openly inviting gamers to inundate him with requests to sign their copies of Dead Rising. The esteemed developer's latest game, yet another entry into the zombie-ridden shopping mall sim genre, has already generated a great deal of buzz, possibly because it allows you to beat undead cretons to a pulp with baseball bats, benches and finely matured wheels of cheese.

If you plan on attending the signing event tomorrow, here's what you need to know:
  • Date: Tuesday, August 8, 2006
  • Time: 4:00PM - 6:00PM
  • Location: EB Games, Redmond Town Center
    16495 NE 74th Street
    Redmond, Washington 98052 (Tel. 425-895-8331)
  • Demeanor: Approachable, but may unexpectedly and infrequently lunge
And don't forget, you'll actually have to purchase a copy of the game in order to have it signed. There will be plenty of free Xbox t-shirts, however, no doubt meant to distract the crowd's inherent urge to tear Mr. Inafune limb from limb and devour his brain.

Hopefully this means the game will be out everywhere tomorrow.

please, god, pleeeeease let this come out tomorrow!!

Yep. Ton's of people go, Well if Joe Blow says Such and Such game sucks then it truely does. There are ton's of people that say FF7 or Halo Sucks. Is it true? Nah.

Still pondering hmm. only reasons i'd consider it is that it's 49 dollars at frys on wed and it's the first game this month. I don't like the idea of spending $130 on 3 games this month though.

Well the IGN Review and Gamespot pretty much supported the save system flaws + Time System that 1up brought out. Just really horrible game design. You would think people would learn that time constraints are not meant for the main game mode (especially an open ended environment) after Pikimin. I think that's enough to hold out to buy it when it's much cheaper. Of course that's just me.... Plus if I want to murder zombies for fun I can just play the demo for now.

so is it safe to say most if not all retailers will be getting this in on Wednesday?

I know it's a stretch but I hope at least TRU gets it in on Tuesday. It'll make my work day go faster :)

I called my GS that I preordered at and was told that they'll probably get it tomorrow. I think I'll give them a call early in the evening and check, just to be on the safe side.

Also, am I the only one that remembers when a release date, such as oh, Aug 8th, meant that the game would be there then, and not the day after, because of "shipping'???

Yeah, it really is bullshit that they do it like that now. I don't really see the point other than to seem like you'll have it before everyone else so people preorder with you over the competition.

As for the game, after reading the gamespot review, I can see how something like that would piss people off. Luckily though, I have a hard drive & mem card so it's not going to effect me much.

I've read the reviews and it seems like I won't mind the various flaws pointed out.

Time constraints don't bother me much, as you can always go through the game again to just explore around. I'm just thankful that you can keep your stats and start story mode over again.

The biggest complaint I have with the game (that no review has really picked up) is the complete lack of Multiplayer support of any type. I could easily see a mode where three people try to protect one civilian (four actual players), or a "Hunt" mode where someone takes on the role of one the "pychopaths" and trys to eliminate the other players. Oh well, maybe we'll see some online modes in (if they make it) Dead Rising II. In the meantime, I really want to play Dead Rising, NOW!

It's one thing to see ten publications give Drake an average of 2/10 and decide to avoid it, but it's a whole different situation where ass clowns decide that anything short of perfection isn't even worth a try. OMG, DR got an 8.3 from IGN, it must be . . . fairly good, despite it's flaws?? For me, I try mostly every game that can work up at least a 7 from some magazine. Yes, I'm partial towards games that score really high, but I'm willing to at least give most games a whirl.

I played the demo last night (finally) and I'm still undecided about buying this. If it were $40 I'd probably bite but $60 still seems like way too much to pay for a video game (I have done it though).

The demo was good - I didn't really get into it though because I was messing around with my PSP (devhook is pretty cool!) and not paying attention. I did have to play 4 times though before the "timer" ran out - I kept making cutscenes appear and ending the demo like 2 minutes in. I didn't really find any cool weapons and I'm not used to the controls yet - maybe if I keep playing tonight I will change my mind about buying it.

Is there a reason that a weapon like the knife can only be used a limited amount of times? I found a sweet knife in a cardboard box and was slashing zombies like a mofo and then all of a sudden I had no knife... weird.

Weapons break, otherwise most of us would just use the katana for the majority of the entire game

Try exploring the mall more, there's a ton of different weapons and stuff to try out. Here's a hint: head upstairs to the cafe located up there and look around; there's pies (to eat & throw), a pan that you can heat (and then burn faces off) with and even a Katana (that'll mess zombies up, Kill Bill style) when you jump out one of the Cafe's windows.

The demo alone warrents at least a dozen play throughs.

This is one of my major complaints about the video game industry. Movies (both theatrical and video), books, music, etc. all release on firm dates. I'd almost prefer if games were released slightly later than possible just to have a confirmed date so I wouldn't have to search so often. If the industry is going to be as big as cinema (financially), they'd better start acting like it.
Theres already DLC on the marketplace. "Locker Keys" to get new costumes in game. Oh and its all free.
you think it is alright to download the content before you have the game.

sweet, so it's got solid 8s right now. that's great. can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

Yep, I agree.

Well, one more day won't kill me... what really gets me is that it's nowhere like the other industries you listed because it's not available ASAP Wednesday, it's available "whenever the UPS man drops it off".

Usually games with Hard Street dates we get in a few days before they are dated. Games without street dates, sometimes we get in a day early, sometiems tehe same day, some a few days late. (This is at work at Best Buy).

Personally I'd rather wait the week or whatever extra it takes them to make sure all stores have their stock for the release date and be able to go into a store and be sure I can find it, like DVD releases on Tuesdays rather than have a soft release where some stores get it on the day, some get it the next day, some get it at the end of the week.

Anyway, nobody near me has it. Best Buy has it coming out tomorrow, EB says they might get it late today but even if they do they won't sell it until tomorrow (WTF?!) and Circuit City won't have it until tomorrow after 2:00PM apparently.

well at least I got my shirt yesterday, I guess I'll just play the demo 10 more times. When I went into work to check today, at least 20 people called asking if we had it.

Looks like I'm pretty lucky. The Fry's near me has sworn up and down that they're gonna be getting their copies in about 4 o clock. I'm gonna be sitting there, waiting.

Possibly groaning and saying something about brains.

Point of the story is, if you hear on the news about some crazed fan eating shopper's brains, it wasn't me.
Why do they put August 8th in their effing commercials if they didn't mean it!?
just the way game releases go. sucks

Glad my store isn't the only one that didn't get it.

I did pick up Ridge Racer 6 for a total of $12.53 (It was 14.99 used and I had spare credit left over)! That's cheap as hell.

On the West Coast they should have it now, but East Coast and most of the central states will not have it until tomorrow. Just the price of living here.

Correction, West Coast is not getting it until tomorrow either, atleast my contacts in San Fran say so. Sorry Guys

The used price for RR6 is only $15?!?! That's a steal.
Edit- That's weird, its still listed as $29.99 used online. Did you get it somewhere other than EB/Gamestop?

Hell, I'd be happy if I took a day off and got fucked. Maybe he's a priest or something though and he's taken a vow of celibacy?

Got the automated voice message from EBgames telling me it will be in tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be downloading pacman before work, and then playing Dead Rising late into the night after work. Sweet.

even though I work at gamecrazy I just got my RR6 at best buy it was 14.99 with GGC and then with PG rebate it is 9.99 that is still better than my discount.

My store has dead rising. I look at the box of them, but they said they can't sell them till tomorrow. I agrued with him for about 10 min than i called him gay and left.

I got the automated call like an hour or so ago too. Honestly, thats really annoying. I mean, I know it comes in tomorrow. I almost didn't answer the damn thing because I rarely answer unknown callers

What is the PG rebate? If I can get RR6 new for $10, shit, it might actually be worth it.
