I can confirm that green tag and buy 2, get 1 free combine B&M!

I got Musashi Samurai Legend (9.99 after half off), Spy Fiction (9.99 after half off) and Pinball Hall of Fame (free, regularly $6.99) all for $20 total this morning when the store opened. All of these games were for PS2.

I had purchased Musashi and Pinball HOF for $18 last week, so I returned them.

The same manager who was pissed when I used the $3 off coupon during the 90% off sale last year was just as PO'ed this morning.

Here is the thing:

Green Tag works with this, but, the Green tag item has to be 19.99 before the promo knocks it down, ex:

Green Tag Item Spy Fiction $19.99 Green Tag will go down to $9.98 and will work with two other games $19.99 and under, but Guilty Gear Isuka $29.99 (Green Tagged) will not work because it was not $19.99 BEFORE knock down, anyway blah blah blah,

On the bright side of things, Shadow of Rome and Mech Assault 2 LE are both $19.99 so yay!!!

Porter Ranch, CA had more empty shelf space than games. I went there all excited as they normally have pretty good supplies for the various B2G1 sales, but sheesh-- it looked day-after-Black-Friday picked over. I talked to the lady there who acknowledged she had to "spread the games around" as there weren't many in.

(I was there right at opening, it's not like I got there late after someone cleared them out!)

I'm a bit disappointed as I really expected to stock up today. Oh well, back to Amazon for me!
Times Sq TRU = huge waste of time
damn, i was thinking about heading down there. you probably saved me a trip.
did you see any games at all? even cheap crappy ones? thanks

At the Rockville, MD TRU

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (PS2): 19.95
Katamari Damacy: 19.99 - 10.00 = 9.99
Alien Hominid (PS2): 19.95 - 19.15 = 0.00

Katamari is apparently greentagged in their system, but there's no tag on the case. I don't know why it wasn't the free item, but I wasn't about to complain.

Grand Total (w/tax): 31.44

Probably the same reason green tagged games have to be $19.99 or under to qualify. They go by the list price, not the discounted price. And since Alien Hominid was $19.95 instead of $19.99, it was cheapest.

Good thinking. Well it certainly worked out well for me. Most people probably already have these if they want them, but there were 3-4 copies left of each one. That's at the Rockville, MD store. The stuff in the greatest hits section is already pretty well picked over, but there are lots of 20.00 titles mixed in with the full price ones

Demon Stone ($20 green tag= $10)
Legacy of Kain ($20 green tag= $10)
Viewtiful Joe 2 ($14, 3rd game free= $0)
Total+tax= 21.59

They counted the green tag games as $20, so I got a $15 game for free even though it was was actually more than the others.

Too bad I don't think there are any $20 GC green tagged games I want, otherwise I would do that with the GC Alien Hominid too.

I might just go with Namco 50th, Alien Hominid, and Super Monkey Ball. And then PM to Best Buy and do Donkey Konga 2, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Sonic Mega Collection, if they have it.

I was just wondering if anyone that works at TRU knows whether or not there will be another b2g1 free sale later this month that works for all games up to 49.99 like there was in the past. If not, I need to hurry over to TRU for Sly 2, Jak 3, and RaC:UYA.

saw Alien Hominid, Ghost In the Shell, it was mostly just the same old GH & PC games, I was hoping to get Capcom Classics & Midway Arcade 3

OMG THIS SALE IS DRIVING ME NUTS! I scraped up 3 games I want online, but ten bucks shipping? That totally ruins it. I want to go back and pick up MM Anniversary Collection, Alien Hominid and maybe Sonic Heroes, but I just got back from there, it's a twenty minute drive!!!!

So no matter how much of a collector I am and no matter how good this sale is, I've decided to say fuck it and move on. My big question though..... is the big ALL game buy 2 get one free coming or not?
Speaking of Alien Hominid... Is that ever coming out for the X-box or should I just get the GC version?
I haven't heard anything about the possibility.

As everyone is stating green tag deal worked for me as well. Picked Up: Virtual figter 4, Katamari Damacy, and musashi samurai for $20 + tax....

Hey, I was out there today as well. They have a boatload of $5 GC games - all worked for Buy 2 Get 1 free. I picked up a few Spyhunters and Rockys for trade-ins (they have a ton more and they've been sitting there for a month at $5) and will return the ones I bought from there a few weeks ago. Hopefully EB will have some new preorder deals this month! I also found the mythical "Metabots Infiity" game that was part of the green-tag sale but I had never seen it before (and I'd been to this store a few times). It was tagged with a $14.95 value games tag, but of course was only $5.

The most disappointing thing for me is that the DS games don't qualify - then you could get Feel the Magic and Atari Retro dirt cheap (both are discounted to $10). Also, I had them ring up Call of Duty for PS2 and they said it was now $10, so I guess the Activision dicsount is officially dead. That's too bad. But someone here said they got it for $5 with the Buy 2 Get 1 free? Was that yesterday though, when the Activision discount was still on? I didn't actually ring up the CoD and try to purchase it but he scanned it and got the green-tag discount to show, and I assumed if that showed the $5 off would also show... But maybe he just said "$10" since that's half the green-tag price?

I keep hearing October 23rd... if that's true, I'll seriously crap my pants, because a ton of good games are dropping that week.

Resident Evil 4 (ps2)
Soul Calibur 3
SSX: On Tour
GTA: Liberty City Stories (PSP)

And then the week before that is Shadow of the Colosseus. I'll probably end up dropping 300 - 400 bucks on the sale if it really is October 23rd.

I went by my local TRU B&M store, but the selection was pretty poor. I picked up Tron 2.0, Stolen and Vietcong: Purple Haze for $20 plus tax. I didn't know about Katarmari though, so I may go back for that tomorrow. :D

OK, I figured as much - just wanted to verify though, as you never know with these things :D.

looks like TRU hasn't updated their computer systems from last year, so you can still use green tags items to manipulate your total so you can get some great deals.

e382bfed.jpg

from what I can figure, it gives you the cheapest item free(in reference to the pre-sale price), or the last item free if multiple items are priced the same. I'm going back later this week to try and get another one or two sets of 3 games.

anyone know if the real B2G1F sale will include NDS/GBA/PSP or if it will be just the big 3?

I picked up: Xenosaga 2 $20
Phantom Dust $20
Mega Man Aniv. (xbox) free
Guilty Gear X2 (xbox) $10
MoH Rising Sun (xbox) $12
Demon Stone (ps2) free

PM'd at BB: Sly 2 non GH $20
LoTR 3rd Age (xbox) $20
Capcom Classics free

I also picked up Lords of Everquest PC game for $8.99 and I noticed they put out bundles of pre-orders for XBox 360 games.

Blah I was going to get Phantom Dust and Killzone, but I COULD NOT find 1 other game I would play....arg...it hurt me to put it back since it was the last killzone without the greatest hit label...saddness :(

Free trade fodder?

I ended up getting Burnout 3, Monkey Ball and Crimson Skies for xbox. All games ive been meaning to pick up, so not too bad a deal.

Whoa, wait a sec: it appears you paid $9.99 and $9.97 and then got a game free...so it looks like it worked right to me. Since all three titles were $19.99 before your total was configured, you were able to get one of the $19.99 games free, but that's not two games free.

And I was all excited too! ;_;

no, the way it should have worked would be:

$19.95 - Jak 3
$09.99 - Bombastic
$FREE. - Sega Superstars

$29.94 TOTAL

you're right though, I meant to say 'or', not 'and'.

Today I picked up for B2G1F:

Punisher XB $19.95
Evil Dead: Regeneration XB $19.99
Namco: 50th Anniversary XB $19.99

Plus I had $10 in free Geoffrey dollars, so I got three games for $32. Not bad at all.

I got a question about Musashi Samurai Legend for the PS2. The sale at TRU.com (Amazon) says B1G1 Free on select games. MSL is listed as a select game but it's price is listed as $29.99. Does that mean it is part of the sale? I think somebody mentioned buying it.

I bought Suikoden IV, Musashi Samurai Legends, and Shadow of Rome. Musashi was listed on the shelf at 29.99, but I remembered seeing it on-line as part of the sale, so I had the clerk price-check and confirm the 19.99.

Then he rang up the games- Suikoden IV first, Musashi second, and Shadow of Rome third. Musashi came up green-tagged and thus 50% off, and then Shadow of Rome came out to be free, apparently because it was the last one scanned in the register. Total came out to be ~32, and I even asked the clerk whether the lowest price should be the free one instead. He said that whattever the system shows is what the price is. I guess that's the way their computers are set up. Too bad there weren't any other green-tags left that I wanted.

Did other toysruses have the capcom collection? That's what I actually went to buy, and my toysrus didn't have it.

Thanks a lot. BTW I am also thinking about getting Capcom Classics but I don't know if its part of this sale
Gary

I didn't see capcom collection on-line, but if the b&m stores have it in-stock, it should be part of the sale, since it retails for 19.99.

I work at a TRU.

We never got Capcom Collection and Midway Arcade Treasures 3 last week. If history repeats, just like with Arcade Treasures 2, it took us near a month to get it, and even then, we never got MAT 2 for Gamecube, ever. Budget titles don't seem to be a priority. We'll get them, sure, but it'll take forever. It seems that if they don't think they'll sell, they're in no hurry (see MAT2, Katamari Damacy). Our purchasing directors never bothered trying to get them until they figured out those titles sold.

Anyways, as I said a on Sept 25 (page 62) in the TRU Green Tag thread, and as others have said in here, buy 2 get 1 on any title doesn't start until October 23rd, and said information can be found on the TRU Intranet home page under "radio/tv advertising", wherein it shows the schedule for any ads to air on tv or radio for October. PSP is definately NOT in the buy 2 get one sale, and GBA and DS will not as well. Says just PS2/Cube/XBox pretty clearly. As for why DS and GBA games aren't in the sale, I know it's because of the low profit overhead on them, and I assume PSP mustn't be in it for that very same reason.

Is there anyway to tell if the copy you will get mailed via amazon will be greatest hits labeled or not?

I was thinking of getting these three:
PS2 Silent Hill 4
PS2 Musashi: Samurai Legend
Ps2 Neo Contra
PSP is definately NOT in the buy 2 get one sale
Damn I was waiting to grab a few PSP games with the oct 23 B2G1F. Doesn't surprise me, but i had my fingers crossed...

Thanks for the update on this. I think I may get Fable: Lost Chapters, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Oddworld: Strangers Wrath that week since they'd be roughly the same price and I have some extra Geoffrey dollars to burn.

sweet I just got quoted by cheapyD!!!!!

Anyone know if Sly 1 and Baten Kaitos(GC) work with this? I saw Sly 2 and some others I was interested in on the online page, if I got my check today I'll run out there and snag some things.

err.. it seems that only EB and Gamestop sell BK for $19.99.. damn.

Get Victorious Boxer it is one of the best boxing games ever made.

Whaaat?

That makes no sense, espically since the titles are, on average, the same price as ps2 / xbox / GC games.

I went by one of my area's two TRUs over lunch, and picked up MGS: The Twin Snakes for GCN, Alien Hominid for the PS2, Midway Arcade Classics 2 for the XBox as my three B2G1 games, and also got Katamari Damacy, which was green tagged at $9.99. I'm going to hit the other TRU on the way home, maybe they'll have some different games.

The TRU also had two Sony 5" PS1 monitors for $23.98 each; I'm thinking about snagging one or both of them.
