Deal on a college student laptop $700-800

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be a freshman computer science major this fall and I need some help finding a deal on a good laptop with a price range of 700-800 dollars. I plan to use it for programming and other school related work as well as most likely use it for some gaming. Id prefer it be 16 inches or less to avoid lugging around a huge laptop. I really don't care too much about aesthetics. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a laptop and am very sad that I didn't get one with a better graphics card. (will probably sell mine and buy the one above) That one has everything you need for a really good price. Will let you play games like Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2, unlike my current laptop that can't even play the original Counter-Strike (stupid integrated graphics card)

Hmmm this laptop seems good, but your link led me to find this one

I'm really not familiar with the power and comparison of mobile graphics cards, but any help with the comparison of the 2 would be helpful.

Other then that besides brand and a slightly larger and faster harddrive on the asus the laptops are identical in both specs and price.

That graphics card is comparable, but the one in the Toshiba is a little bit better. (the Toshiba has DDR3's instead of DDR2's)

Other than that, I heard that ASUS is a little slow on releasing their drivers or lacks some of them. If you're thinking about getting Windows 7 when it comes out, you might have some issues.

I'd like to point out that the ASUS has a 32-bit OS, unlike the Toshiba that has the 64-bit version.

Both computers are nice though and are bargains at these prices.
