Deals on wired 360 controller or wireless windows receiver?

Quick question guys. Total PC noob here.
Going on vacation tomorrow and I thought I'd take advantage of this fine service I hear about called Steam .
Downloaded fallout 3, tried plugging in my 360 controller to the laptop, installed drivers, still won't work. Im guessing its because I plugged it into the laptop with a plug &play kit. So I need a real wired controller, or wireless receiver.
Any good deals?

Wireless receivers are $10 on ebay. Some of them are unofficial third party ones but they work just fine. I bought one a few years ago and its still going strong. It even works on my android tablet.

Thanks, but any idea where they sell em retail?
I dont have time for eBay,leaving on vacation tonight. Wanted to play some fallout on the plane.
