so i just bought a ps3 during the dell.com sale and since my upcoming paycheck is going to be pretty good i decided to FINALLY make the switch from standard def to high def.

dell.com had a 32 inch vizio about 2 months back for around $330...im kicking myself in the ass for not getting it back then. can anyone find anything for around that price/size now?

There's some decent starter HDTVs on Amazon for under $400. If you go with a 32, there's no real reason to go with 1080p over 720p. Unless you sit right on top of the TV, you won't notice much difference.

Get a reputable brand too, don't skimp there. I've had good experiences with both Samsumg and LG with HDTVs and Monitors, those Koreans know their way around a screen.

Reputable brand isn't always the best. Read some reviews on Sony, they're not great, especially for the price tag.

i just bought a 42" vizio 1080p 240 hz tv and i love it, amazing picture quality. i think its better than my friends 120 hz samsung but i could just be seeing things lol

Does it need to be a flat panel/LCD TV? If you are not married to that idea and don't mind having a big beastly TV, scope out Craigslist for a Sony tube TV. I picked up a 34XBR960 with an extremely nice stand for $300. Bonus that the picture quality will rape anything you are looking at in that price/size range (and pretty much any LCD or Plasma to be frank).

Models to look for (in order of awesomeness):
KD-34XBR960
KD-34XS955
KV-34XBR910
KD-30XS955
KV-30XBR910
KD-34XBR970
KV-34HS420
KV-34XBR800
KV-34HS510
KV-30HS420
KV-30HS510

Note: The number at the front of the model name is the screen size. They only ever made 30 and 34 inch in the widescreen models.
