Decent quality headphones for DS

I'd like to ask a related question - what is the connector next to the headphone jack on the DS for? Is that for optional volume control? More along the lines of the question that the OP asked - where can you find a decent set of headphones that utilized that jack?

Sadly they're OOS, but you can search around. Those are the best headphones you can find on the market for the price. No joke!

I like the in-ear ones from Sony, I don't know if you consider $40 cheap though, they actually go inside your ear like earplugs do. They sound great and no one else can hear them.
