Here's a good question, has anyone ordered DVDs or Blu-rays from DDD and when they got them they appear to be re-wrapped like they were returned and resold? Reason I ask is because I ordered a boxset and a few DVDs this year during the 25% off sale for some people in my family and work. Some of them appear to be re-wrapped and the one boxset I ordered did not come with the outer box that the 4 DVD went into and 2 of the 4 from this boxset were missing the security labels and 1 of the 2 that had the label across the top of the case looked like it was removed halfway and was put back. This particular label even has dirt stuck to the underside of the label. The boxset of 4 DVDs was held together with packing tape. This will be my LAST order with DDD. Anyone else experience this?

Hearing what I have about them lately, I am not surprised to hear about this from you. I can say for sure that I won't be placing any orders with them.

To put things in perspective, If someone told me they opened up a package from DD and found a litter of dead babies I would not be surprised.

When I got my copies of Breaking Bad S1 & S2, one of the seasons was wrapped differently than the other, almost like it was done by hand, but I didn't think too much of it until now. I need to open it and inspect it.

I think sometimes they even break up multi-DVD sets to fill orders that only need one of the movies. I bought a martial arts movie from them once, and the outer wrapper had half a sticker that appeared to be what one would see on a two-movies-in-one-pack, side-by-side promotional package.

It's pretty common.

I get dvds on occasion that are used, and I can even see that the disc have scratches on them.

So I have to ship the dvd back to DD, and wait another 2 months for them to replace it.

It's a crapshoot as of late.

They have really bad online account managements.

I "cancelled" an order online (just highlight a checkbox that says cancel and hit submit ala Amazon) since it's been a month since I ordered, and it hadn't been shipped yet.

After 2 weeks, I get an email confirmation saying my order that I canceled was shipped out to me!

I called and asked why they shipped it still. And all they could say was "sorry" that I can just refuse shipment and get my refund back.

Of course, it took another whole month before I even got my refund credited back.

A few days ago, I did the same thing, canceling an order online, and later finding out it's been shipped out.

More stupid apologies.

Less of the story: If you cancel an order online, make sure you give them a CALL as well.

DD = Snail retailer.

The independent CD chain store I worked for long ago would actually open factory sealed CDs for customers to test out and they would re-wrap them with their sealing machine and put them back out as new if the customer did not want them. That same CD goes back to the wholesaler in "new" condition for a full credit as long as they get it back before the return time limit expires. I was told this was OK as long as they don't break or take off that plastic sticker at the top, so we would open CDs by the hinge at the bottom and not let the customer mess around with they case itself. These CDs are resold to other stores as new and DD could be getting their product like this. The bad thing about this is that some stores will return damaged items like this too, so bad product is mixed with good product.

But I think what happens more than that is how I've personally seen thousands of poorly re-wrapped CDs with Best Buy retail stickers on them. I never quite understood why BB would open and reseal so many CDs like that. Last year, during the huge Big Lots cartoon DVD sale, all the Flintstones DVD sets had no wrapper, so I'm thinking that sometimes inventory arrives without any wrapping on them at all and the store reseals them. Or this may happen somewhere along the retail line.

Either way, I'm pretty sure most resealed items are "new" but has a good reason why they are resealed. Yet, I had to wait 5 weeks to get an in stock DVD set from them. The next DVD set I bought arrived smashed up and I actually shelled out money to get it fast in efforts to avoid another 5 week wait. Even if their DVDs are 100% factory sealed and cheaper than Amazon, I am not likely to return there.

Not that it matters now and it's slightly off topic, but I bought many HB cartoon sets last year as Big Lots, including The Flintstones, and all of mine came wrapped. Some of them still are sealed.

My thoughts exactly. My copy of the first season is the more typical, solid plastic wrapping while the second season is more of a thinner, saran wrapping. The interesting part is that both have an "As seen on AMC" sticker, although, the second season sticker almost appears to have been removed and replaced... I mean, after taking ~3 months to finally ship the items, I would have expected both to be wrapped in gold foil and served on a silver platter.

After just now opening both copies, I have found no other evidence of re-wrapping. Both items appear to have all materials included, along with no signs of fingerprints or scratches on the discs themselves... I remain slightly weary and refuse to order from them again solely based on the fact that they have a reputation for unacceptably late shipments.

Manufacturers do this all the time. Most times it is to add or remove things from the original pressing. Maybe remove a digital disk, remove internal advertising or add new advertising. Most times if they have a supply of wrapped disks, they send to a fulfillment company that will unwrap them, add in the new advertising, then re-wrap them. Its nothing to worry about.

I'm just gonna go ahead and predict now that by 2012 DDD.com will degrade to an Asian bootleg site.

They might as well be already. Ordered quite a few Asian DVDs from them before, and they were bootleg copies, so not too far from that possible outcome right now ;P

Out of the 12 Blu-Ray movies I've received in the last week, 0 appeared re-wrapped. Most, but not all, had the white seal on top, most, if not all, had factory/company stickers on the wrap, but all of them were factory sealed. While all these were from Sept - which is inexcusable imo - I recently placed another order for for a Blu (cheaper by $8 from anywhere else) and its already shipped (from backorder, about a week wait time).

I am glad I have never placed an order with them. Thanks for the heads up cause some of the deals seem great. I would rather pay the difference from Amazon to make sure I recieved the item in a timely manner.

Saying its shipped means nothing. My order was shipped for about two months before I received it. Its just a BS way for them to make it impossible to cancel your order.

That place has sucked ever since they changed their name from Deepdiscountdvd. to just deepdiscount. They used to have actual good sales and slow but at least decent free shipping. Haven't ordered anything in years, I wonder if they have had new management since the name change?

I bought both copies of my Breaking Bad sets from amazon, S1 looked like a normal shrinkwrap, but S2 looked like it was rewrapped, so it might just be how Breaking Bad is. I'm about 99.9% sure amazon doesn't re-shrinkwrap and sell under az.com, they re-shrinkwrap and sell under amazon warehouse deals.

I can't believe people still buy from this shithole site.

The site DeepDiscountDVDs.com was great, they then became deepdiscount and all hell broke lose.

Everyone should know they are a shithole, if you expect your shit not to be used than you might as well expect your shit not to stink.

The rating is a .87 out of 10! HAHAHAHA

Remember only 2-3 years ago when they would have been an 8.7?

I used to order from them a lot and never had a problem until I ordered a bunch of Rifftrax DVDs they were selling as a set. They sent a duplication instead of one of the discs and implied I was lying because they come as a set (They have always been sold as individual discs and were shipped as individual discs.) I ordered the one I was missing, gave away the extra, and haven't gone back to them since.

My order for Casino Royale CE and Zombieland doesn't appear rewrapped at first glance because the wrapping is the same glossy wrapping you find on any retail store but strangely it doesn't have the seal on top. I'll probably have to check these out carefully. I'm expecting another shipment to arrive soon for a B1G1F sale they threw months ago and really need to check on these too.

Other than that, my Shrek the Full Story (Blu) and Adventures of Brisco County Jr. (DVD) appear like they weren't rewrapped.

After waiting months for a DVD to ship I found it cheaper on eBay and just cancelled my order. Yeah that order that's been waiting MONTHS to ship suddenly is processing the exact same day I cancel it. Surrre! They will be getting a call today.

NorAm (Pieceofmindbooks), the group that is partnered with Amazon, would re-wrap used DVD's and videogames with y-fold sealing and add fake "Security device" strips on top of the movies and games. It is possible that they could be y-fold reseals, but the only way to know is to check the contents inside.

I can see inside of the se7en blu ray I ordered that the pages of the book are folded back in the corner. Never looked to see if that was common, but has me wondering now if it was rewrapped. I'll take a look at it again later as I didn't open it.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. I'm almost afraid to open up these things to find they're used but I guess I'll have to.

Real shrinkwrapping styles are not uniform, identical, and neat. NorAm's are always this way, regardless of manufacturer or product. The product underneath is a different story...

Just checked the blurays I received so far. Besides the missing seals on top, the discs I received look pristine. No signs they were tampered with at all.

Just received an order of Blurays from BestBuy and some of the Sony ones are missing seals on top so this is definitely not something inherent with DD. Must be something inherent with Sony and Columbia Picture-labeled titles.

Sad part is this is nothing new. We did this when I worked at Best Buy. Not always for a negative reason, but if a product drops and the plastic wrap tears we re-wrap it.

I know that I have ordered a few blu-rays from amazon recently and they came re-wrapped. When I made the request for replacements everyone of the replacements minus 1 were also re-wrapped. Guess that's what happens on high demand movies during black friday and christmas sales.

I understand if they rewrap them if the plastic wrap tears, but would they necessarily remove the security strip on top?

I guess I might just bring the movies to exchange at Bestbuy just in case. One of the benefits of buying from a store as opposed to an online retailer I guess.

I've seen a lot of BDs/DVDs having the shrinkwrap type wrapping from direct the manufacturers (eg., shrinkwrapped new releases on day 1). Perhaps what you got were indeed factory sealed? You can't be sure until you open it up and inspect it closely.

I'm one of those people who hates unwrapping movies/videogames until I actually want to play them. I guess I will probably have start opening them up just to check regardless of who I buy it from.

Add me to the list of former customers of that site. Again, I haven't used them much in the past few years, and haven't placed a bulk order in probably 2+ years, but this is discouraging.

I wonder if some of the older stuff I bought was re-wrapped? I've had suspicions on some things, but the majority of my items always looked very new and "factory fresh" if you will.

The ones I wondered about were usually the double features, and other movies that had been grouped together for whatever reason.

Just got back from Best Buy. Was trying to exchange the blurays that were missing security seals and they had a whole deck of the same blurays without seals instore so there was no point exchanging them. It's definitely a Sony/Columbia Pictures bluray thing from my observation. Don't know if other studios are following suit in not bothering to put seals.
