My laptop battery isnt charging anymore and I believe its the power cord, its been buggy all week. Now the thing wont charge it even alittle. I was wondering if stores sold replacements because I really dont want to spend $60 on the dell site for a replacement.

They're available cheaper on eBay. I would try to get it from eBay. Just match the model number on the adapter. I dont know too many stores that carry Dell stuff other than Dell stores.

Does the power supply power the laptop either with or without the battery inserted?

If it does, then it's probably not the power supply. It is most likely the battery itself. Lion batteries have a limited lifespan.

Is your battery one of the newer ones with the built in LED charge meter? If so, push the button on the battery. Do the LED's give you a flashing pattern? If so, the battery has gone bad.

Just trying to help you make sure you don't buy a power supply you don't need.

I second that. Batteries have better chance of failing that than the power supply.

I have a Dell laptop that I pruchased in early 2002. But last year Dell notified me of a power cord recall because of a defect in that model power cord.

I believe the models affected were those from September 1998 and February 2002 with some of Dell's Latitude, Precision, and Inspiron notebooks, and are marked with the name "Dell" and the part numbers "P/N 9364U," P/N 7832D" or "P/N 4983D," according to the CPSC.

though from the sounds of it, your problem lies in the battery.

Yeah, my battery wouldn't charge my Inspiron 600m because of the power cord. The laptop also ran at the lowest speed because it no longer recognized the broken ac adaptor. I had to buy a new one, but soon after I bought an xps2. ;-)
