Deoxsys Download Event

I'd go to an Arceus event only if they give out the item. I really want to see the cutscenes for that one.

Wow this will be my 3rd pokemon event. I never got to go as a kid. The ones that I want to see at an event are Celebi and Mew. I never got to catch them.

Also this isn't "official" till Monday. You might here more news about it on Monday.

I wonder if it's an item or a transfer. I have a deoxsys from emerald, so I wonder if I can still get one.

ps I have a mew, from Comic-con, I think.

Pretty sure Mew wasn't given out at Comic-Con. Lugia and Ho-Oh were. Wow I'm such a pokenerd. Great news but it looks like that chart is implying that Diamond gets one weekend for the download and Pearl gets another.

edit: never mind

You'd think that now that the DS can download entire game demos that these events would become unnecessary.

What's hilarious is that on one weekend it will be diamond only downloads, and the other weekend will be pearl only downloads.

You can do either game each time. It's just the designer of the poster isn't that bright.

regarding whether or not these events ate necessary now that you can download demos... you're missing the point of these events - to get you into the store to hopefully buy more games. That's the only point of these events, and obviously it works.

Wouldn't mind getting a legit copy to replace the one my friend AR'ed for me, plus one for Pearl. This will mark my fourth event, thanks OP :)

With Pokemon being around for 10+ years..why haven't stores done this OFTEN? I know when we went to Toys R Us last week, we ended up getting some DS games because of those coupons..and I'm sure there are A LOT of kids to get their parents to buy them shit when they go to these events.

I know these Pokemon are supposed to be rare and hard to get, but there are A LOT of legendaries/rare now..so they REALLY should be doing this often. :bomb:

I think in the next generation, or in the G/S remake, they should allow all legendaries/rares to be captured by doing quests in the game. It's getting annoying knowing there's Pokemon in the game you'll never be able to get because Nintendo just gave up or you couldn't go to the event. Either let them be catchable without live events, or have them up for download all the time like the demo stations.

Don't directly-received Pokemon have something unique about them, usually? The Darkrai in-game doesn't have Roar of Time and Special Rend.

That's not necessarily true. Plenty of the events have actually been held at non- retail venues like Comic-Con and the Space Center in Houston. The Celebi giveaway was held in malls, not at any store in particular. The Eon ticket was given out at public parks and at E3.

They could make this available wherever they want whenever they want very easily. The fact of the matter is Nintendo is still stuck in 1998 when it comes to this issue.

I just wish I had some way to make sure that my local GameStops were going to be taking part in the promotion; none of them held the Battle Revolution tournament last year.

I got Mew and Darkrai through TRU, bought Ranger just to get Manaphy, I have the demo disc for PkMn Collosseum to get Jirachi, and now Deoxys is coming....all I need is Celebi and the rest of the D/P legendaries, and I might technically finally be able to catch 'em all!
Yay, more free stuff! I'm there, dude. *puts it on his calendar*
Just curious, are you talking about the pokemon, or is there other "free stuff?" Just wondering if I'll go in, or just walk by. I might go to the EB by my office, but I hate that EB, and hate going in. The staff sucks. The selection sucks. The store is dirty. Worst. EB. Ever. (That I have been in.)

I'm excited for this event, especially since you can change forms whenever you want this generation. Very Awesome.

I'm partial to the one that looks like Juggernaut from X-Men.

Pokémon Fans to Catch Rare Character at GameStop Stores
Bring your DS.

There are many ways to catch a Pokémon, but for two special weekends in June, there's only one failsafe way for fans to get one of the most unique characters in the enthralling Pokémon® universe on their Nintendo DS.

From June 20-22 and June 27-29, Pokémon players are invited to bring their Nintendo DS systems and Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl games to the nearest GameStop store where they can receive Deoxys, a legendary character with transformative powers and an impressive set of battle-ready moves.

With an imaginative roster of characters and richly interactive game play, the blockbuster Pokémon game series has attracted millions of fans worldwide. According to the independent NPD Group, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl have sold more than 4.2 million combined in the United States alone, while Nintendo DS continues to be ranked as the nation's top-selling hand-held game system.

Of course you can.

My question is how far does the Gamestop Wi-Fi reach? I don't feel like spending my Saturday morning in line with a bunch of screaming kids. Can I just connect from the parking lot?
is that the same pokemon TRU was giving a few weeks ago?
Nope. TRU giving Darkai = This idiot pokemon never listen to my commanded. :(

That's what I'm wondering too. I have to be at Gamestop tomorrow anyway, but I don't want to be seen doing this, so hopefully it reaches to the parking lot.

Ditto.
How is this a "deal"?
To normally get this Pokemon, you have to do this:

First, you have to catch deoxes in Pokemon emerald version. Catch him at birth island then migrate him to pearl after unlocking the pal park.

Going to Gamestop allows to skip all that. The 'deal' I guess would be saving time by not having to have played both games and money by not having to have purchased both games. For fans of Pokemon, this would be a 'deal'. I am not one of those fans.

Liar. You can just TRADE for it. There are non-monetary methods to get Deoxys. Deoxys isn't just in Emerald by the way.

And any pansies who don't want to be seen, you really are yellow-bellied. At least a good 1/8th of event-goers is made up of teen and older players. Just get in there, jeez. You might even find some Pal Pad numbers.

Nice, thanks for the info.

This thread is moving to the DS forum.

And you guys are real tough guys for being afraid to be seen downloading a pokemon. Honestly, WHO CARES what someone thinks of you? And truth be told, no one's going to notice if you're there downloading a pokemon or picking your nose or looking at games. People go out shopping to get something they want or need. They don't go out to see what you're doing.

He came in at level 50. Had you enough gym badges for him to obey you?

"Liar"? I just searched how to get the pokemon and pasted the task. Sure you can trade it, but wouldn't that require that someone took the task to get it initially? Either way, thanks to MasterKyo for the info, I will be bringing my little brother to get the pokemon.

They are both right. The Darkrai event at my local TRU a few weeks ago was mostly adults. My original question was more about saving time, not face.
Welcome to the DS forum. There's already a thread on this here.
Whoa, missed that. Thanks, I merged the two.
My original question was more about saving time, not face.
ITS A DRIVE-BY POKEMANS!!!

If it's like the Darkrai event, I'm guessing the range is a good 40 feet, meaning you should be able to stand juuuust outside the store and get it. Plus, no need to stand in line.

I'll definitely get one, because I like the rare Pokemanz.

As far as not being seen downloading pokemon.... that's what children are for - they let you do all the things you'd otherwise be afraid to be seen doing, but would like to be doing. So have some kids. :)

BTW..is this timed? Like wasn't the Darkrai event at TRU from 12-4 or something like this?
Or is this anytime during the weekend?

Not sure, but I expect not.

1. TRU had coupons and type charts to hand out, thus they needed someone to oversee. They probably didn't want to devote someone to it all day.

2. It's all wireless, so once the employee starts up the wireless, they can forget about it.

3. No times are mentioned on their webpage dedicated to this.
