I thought about trying this last night but I figured I'd get to the end, then not remember how to get under the platform and get killed trying to do that. So I want to run it with someone else if possible.

So, last night I did get invited into the hard raid by that same group. And thankfully they had the Oracles checkpoint (it was right after the weekly reset so they must have done the hand-off trick).

I ran my Warlock through and while I didn't get the cuirass from any of the 3 checkpoints where it can drop, or the helm from the end (damn), I did manage to get the Vex Mythoclast finally!

We did it pretty quickly. We had one person who kept picking up the relic and then doing nothing with it at Atheon and that caused us several wipes. But finally we got through it and probably only spent 2 hours total on it. Then they decided to do it again so I figured why not. This time we had to start from the beginning though. I used my Titan to get through the confluxes part which very much in contrast to last week we did on the first try!

Then I switched to my Hunter for the Oracles/Templar. I still need chest and boots for that one. I got neither... But then, after levelling my helm one more time so I could hit 29 I kept using my Hunter for Atheon and I got the hard mode Helm drop! So it was kind of funny I get the one piece that I just maxed my regular legendary for, but whatever - it was a good drop.

So that run we did in less than an hour. So they wanted to do it again. Fortunately I had the Oracle save on my Titan from switching earlier to we started there and pretty much ran through the rest in near record time (for me, anyway). We got Gatekeepers on the first try and Atheon on the 1st or 2nd. Unfortunately, this being my Titan, I didn't really need anything from the end. I think I got another helm and some random exotic pulse rifle (Midi-something).

So at this point all I need is the Raid pulse rifle, the cuirass and hard mode helm for my Warlock, and the chest piece and boots for my Hunter.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty tapped out on Raid runs already (ran all 3 characters through Hard mode by 5 hours after the weekly reset!). But if you guys need another I'll run it. I can always use relic practice. I have a couple of chests I can grab (the first one on my Warlock and the Gorgon maze one on my Titan since we just skipped that). If you have 6 others I'll sit out but if you need me let me know.

I saw that last week I think in the Friday post. I'm hoping you can just buy materials or get awarded from a strike (do the strike on the moon, get some helium too).

I should be on by 7:00. Probably playing AC, so just send an invite to party up when we're ready.

I will do nightfall if you or anyone else wants to run it now. I'm not sure if I am going to raid tonight or not, unless we start it soon. Have some buddies that want to do some Halo.

Got the Raid and Weekly done on my Hunter (with her new Raid helm). I need to level that thing up ASAP but now I have to wait until 1am for more bounties...

I also started messing around with the Vex Mythoclast. So, apparently it has been nerfed and will supposedly be given more power at least for PvE, right? Well, I can't imagine what it was like before because it seems pretty nice as is - and that's without even leveling it up! I'm definitely going to work on upgrading that while I work on the helm.

I might also try to solo the Nightfall later with my Warlock. If anyone is on please feel free to jump in.

I forgot to mention something in my earlier post about the 3 hard mode raids I did last night. On one of them, I got 2 of the same reward (Found Verdict, the Raid shotgun) on the same checkpoint! I didn't think that was possible and have certainly never seen that before. I mean, getting the same reward (like gloves) from multiple checkpoints I've seen - but never two of the same thing from the same checkpoint. That was unreal. They definitely need to fix that. I don't think you should get the same reward anywhere in the same Raid, let alone at the very same checkpoint.

Yeah that has happened before. Super frustrating though it makes sense why it does since you are randomly getting two rewards from the possible pool when you are playing Hard first, but I agree they should have a countermeasure programmed to make sure it doesn't.

This is why they need to let pick your rewards or at least earn some type of credits (call them "raid marks") to buy rewards instead of relying on random loot drops. Or why not have one large loot pile from a raid and let the participants choose what they want based on some type of 'raid performance' scale?

We were complaining yesterday about having to grind for materials on planets to finally level up our gear and weapons, but at least that has a set end point once you gather enough materials. With the current model you have to play the Raid 3 times per week and hope you get the right loot drops to hit max level. That is a pretty lame end-game considering it is the only possible way to hit level 30. Plus there is no guarantee you will ever get the drops you need.

io, was your group beating Atheon legit on hard or pushing him? I need to find a hard raid group now that I'm 30 on my hunter. My Halo session crashed and burned last night due to the XBL issues that were going on so I tried to find a group to do it but ended up sitting in a lobby for 30 minutes while they tried to find other people. Finally did a couple runs and they decided to just try to hide and push him of the front platform (can you even do this now?). Needless to say it was a pretty big waste of time. You always appreciate the CAG runs we have had more after something like that.

I don't like that to hit 30 you essentially need the same gear as everybody else. Bungie made a big deal about being able to show off your equipment, but what is there to show off if every warlock looks the same.

I was having issues with lag in Halo co-op. Don't know if it was related. We tested both our connections and they seemed fine.

I'm not looking forward to CAGs dropping off. It is nice having a reliable raid group to run with.

I think they severely underestimated how quickly people would get bored with the grinding. I know most of us are still playing, but I have definitely cut back. I'm sure they are starting to see more people migrating away from the game due to the stale content and the other grade A titles being released. They are still 4 weeks from releasing the expansion and nothing new is in sight other than 4 hours of maintenance tomorrow to prepare for "future" improvements. I guess we will see where it goes from here.

Saw this post in reply to one of the bungie weekly updates. Most of them are stupid, but a few did make me chuckle a bit.

Yeah, that happened to me with the same weapon, Found Truth, 3x's. And this was before I ever got any armor so you can imagine how frustrated I was. I just don't remember if it happened at the Oracle clear or the Templar clear (wanna say Oracles)

Asked this in the PS3 thread yesterdaybut never got a response.

There were only 3 of us so we went for it. We were able to get Atheon up in the air where he should take 1-2 steps back to fall. But during one of our tries, he teleported back down to the ground so we weren't sure if this also got a fix or if we steered him in the wrong direction.

For now that's the way it is. But there's Iron Banner gear that is suppose to be lvl 30 and I'm hoping that the new update also gives us a way to increase the light level of any legendary/exotic gear we have, not just select items

Last week we tried to push him (off the front). There are videos showing it and we got him close a few times. But then we just decided to forget that and do it legit.

When we did it 3 times in a row this week, we did them all legit. Like I said before, other than the first time when one of the players kept getting teleported consistently and was always grabbing the relic and doing nothing with it (thus requiring the other 2 to take care of the mobs and the Oracles which meant we'd run out of time) we did it pretty easily. I think the third time we did it first try, with just 3 teleports. One of the guys in the group pops heavy ammo synths and lays into him with Gjallahorn every time.

I think I got into this other group because they were having the same issue (losing members from their original group). The thing is this group likes to run it first thing after the reset. We were on from 1am - 5am Pacific Tuesday morning. I don't think anyone from the CAG group can do that time so it would be hard to bring any of you in, even though they might start needing more people soon. For run #3, we had to pull a random in from the Tower. Fortunately he was pretty good.

So last night I soloed the Nightfall on my Warlock. The first time I was 2/3 the way through and I got weasel booted. That was kind of frustrating so I went to do the Daily (today's is the first Mars mission which is pretty quick and easy) and some patrol to make sure it wasn't going to keep happening. It seemed stable after that so I did it again and got all the way through this time. I didn't even need to self-res once. I got 7 strange coins...

So then after leveling up my Hunter's gear I went to do it again with my level 30 Titan. I figured it would be a lot easier because of my max level and dual pulse grenades (which can take out groups with their Arc damage). I got the end boss nearly killed but then he kept hiding more than when I did it with my Warlock so I had to keep going around the corner to bait him. One time when I did this one of the stupid Captains pounced on me and one-shot sliced me. D'oh! It was too late to try again. But if anyone wants to do that some time this week it is just so much less stressful to have some backup!

Anybody want to give the raid a go Friday or Saturday? I'd probably get on around 8:30 central on Friday (maybe a little earlier) or any time Saturday. I feel like my schedule has been packed lately and I'm nor even married or have kids... :p

I lucked out and found a group of 29s & 30s looking for 1 for hard raid last night. They had been having people dropping off from their group pretty consistently now. We got in and ran through it from the oracles to the end in under an hour. Made up for the time I wasted with the other random group the night before. Only pulled shards and energy up until the Guardian when I got Praedyth's Timepiece (Leg Arc Pulse rifle). Then we took out atheon and I had the Raid Helm drop for my Hunter so that was a nice one to get. Still no Atheon Epilogue though. Of course it loves to give me Aspect of Glass so I have a nice fleet of those ships now.

Just let me know if you guys need another. You might have to send me a CAG PM to get my attention. I most likely will not be on my Xbox One until 9-10 PM Pacific but might be able to get on earlier if you want to run the Raid. I am definitely out from 7-9 Pacific Friday though (son's basketball practice). Tonight might work better for me.

Lucky bastard. I really want that pulse rifle. Someone was showing it off and it has amazing stability, apparently. Plus you got the helm - so that was a pretty amazing run. I actually want another Aspect of Glass too. Believe it or not, with all my Raid completions, I have only gotten 2 ships (the first one on the very first Raid Broly guided us through). So I'm still rocking one of the ugly brown ships on my Hunter. I had only gotten 2 sparrows up till this week also but I did pull 2 of those in the 3 runs Tuesday morning.

On the other hand, I've gotten 3 each of Atheon's Epilogue and Vision of Confluence (and Fatebringer from the Oracles/Templar section).

All I'm doing now is topping off the Raid helm for my Hunter and working on maxing out the Vex Mythoclast. Like I said, that weapon is pretty good now, even before the last 4 upgrades. I can't imagine how overpowered it was before the nerfing.

Last Word is pretty sweet. Picked up my fifth exotic bounty today for Thorn. Are there any purchaseable primary weapons with void damage?

Nope as of right now. Only atheon's epilogue has the void damage.

Yea, I am working on that one too. I don't have atheon's epilogue so I am doing a bunch of invisible camping with my void shotty and rockets. Slow going so far. I was trying to get some people to work on it tonight if you are interested. maybe trade off kills or something using an alt character since you are punished for deaths.

 
I think that armamentium roll is the highest so far and will upgrade to over 150 at 30 light, definitely worth a pick up if you have the coins.

Yeah that's a great idea, I'd be up for that. I've got a rare void fusion that's pretty decent and Corrective Measure, but I'm not looking forward to the whole thing. Having Atheon's Epilogue would have made it a lot less painful.

 
So iron banner is going to have level 30 boots and gauntlets.  Looks like if the raid isn't going to favor me I will have to do some PvP....

If you can get a helm out of iron banner then people wont play the raid anymore. This just helps people get sucked into the game more. Plus it probably to help womith the people conplaining too much abot rng and not ever getting the gear they are only missing

I suppose... but it's not like any specific item is guaranteed to drop anyway. So why not stick in a specifc Iron Banner helm.

I mean boots SHOULD be easier to get from the raid since you get more opportunities, but obviously that isn't the case.

Hmmm... I thought Xur was a total and complete bust last night when I found him (over by the Speaker). What is so great about this weapon? It's a hand cannon, right? So I guess what I need to know is if there is anything better about it than Fatebringer which is a legendary hand cannon with Arc damage. Plus it makes mobs explode when you get critical kills. That is tough to beat! What are the special abilities of Last Word that makes it worth taking up your exotic weapon slot?

I'll have to check my Armamentarium. Of course mine is maxed out already. But I probably have enough shards to do another - but is that worth it for a few extra discipline points?

I forgot I could look on the web site to see my gear. Mine, maxed out, is at 148. So I don't think it is worth getting if it just upgrades to 152 or 155 or something.

I was really hoping for an alternate chest armor for my Hunter. The one I have SUCKS (Alpha Lupi or whatever). It is geared towards PvP and as such is utterly useless for me. (Though it does have increased Hand Cannon ammo ability which is nice).

I didn't have Voidfang Vestments either and I hear a lot of people talk those up. But it was mostly for cheesing Atheon (since it lets you spawn with grenades). But since we don't do that any more it doesn't seem worth getting. My eventual goal is to get the Raid helm and cuirass for my Warlock, then use Sunbreakers as my exotic.

Gun animation kicks a$s! Hehe! I dont know i just bought it earlier and will probably be upgraded once i finish upgrading my newly acquired atheon epilogue and VOc! Hehe! Just happy im finally doing raids. Cant wait to hit 29 by next week. You do get to reach 29 with one raid gear an exotic helm and max other gears right?

I think you can hit 29 with one exotic plus all regular legendaries - no Raid gear needed at all.

I'm struggling to get any takers. Seems like everybody is either already through it or being pulled away to play something else. If you guys have three other players we could probably run through pretty quick but at this point it isn't looking good.

That is correct!

Also the Last Word is amazing because once it is fully leveled it has almost perfect stability. Plus Fan Fire mode = Cowboy = Hold the trigger for continuous fire. Not only then does it have crazy stability and accuracy once leveled and fires like an auto rifle almost, but it has increased hip fire accuracy AND bonus precision damage when fired from the hip. So if you are super quick and accurate and able to land fast accurate headshots from the hip you are just continuously DESTROYING everything.

It definitely is a gun that you have to be good with to get the most out of it. Any exotic auto rifle can be good in anyone's hands for the most part. This hand cannon though I can see a ton of people buying it now from Xur and not liking it because it is far more demanding of a weapon but it is well worth it.

 
On balance, I think my fully leveled The Devil You Know, with 12 rounds and reload speed after a kill so fast it's essentially instant, is better than The Last Word, especially considering that it takes up the exotic weapon spot that can otherwise go to Ice Breaker. But in terms of being loud, pretty, and just fun as hell to play with, TLW was well worth the coins.

I have the Devil You Know as well and it is a pretty awesome gun. They both warrant completely different playstyles though so it is hard to compare.

 
Well, I know it is late for some of you, but I can run Raid now if you need another. Just post here or send me a PM. I'll be on CAG (but not on my Xbox One).

On xbox.com it looks like maybe 4 or 5 CAGs are on right now - I can't see what the activity is though.
