Fingers crossed this week is more rewarding than the past few with my Raids and Nightfalls!

I used to be super stoked every Tuesday and be excited to get home after work and play Destiny but now I am just almost dreading it feeling like I will just put in a bunch of time and be thoroughly disappointed as I have so often lately : /

I am far more excited for my Figuarts Broly that should be arriving today!!

Never was a huge fan of Thunderlord or any Machine Gun really. That being said if I got one out of a chest I would still be totally stoked haha

What is everyone's biggest hope for this week between Raid drops, Nightfall and Xur?

I myself am set on the weapons department and have been for a while now. All I really run is Fatebringer, Black Hammer/ Praedyths Revenge/ Ice Breaker and Hunger of Crota/Gjallarhorn and so really the only thing I want is new Raid primaries which we can't get yet!

In terms of what is possible my biggest hopes for this week are a Raid Helmet for my Warlock with INT and then any type of Raid Boots for my Hunter. Wouldnt mind getting Obsidian Mind somehow too : P

 
Now that Xur finally gave me my Achlyophage Symbiote upgrade, my biggest want from him is Suros Regime. (Part of me expects that Xur will never sell Ice Breaker or Regime again because, like Gears of War 2, they're almost too good.)

I need raid gloves and boots from Crota, and I'd love to pick up a Fatebringer from VOG.

Right now I just want radiant shards. Just ten more and I can hit level 32.

Yeah I finally let myself play Shadows of Mordor finally this past weekend and that, besides Dragon Age, has been my only game besides Destiny really since it came out o_O

I hit rank for on Eris so I decided to rap things up in AC Unity and then moved on to South Park. Next will be Halo and GTA V. Hopefully before the next DLC pulls me back in full time again....

I never run dailies anymore, haven't in well over a month. Plus I don't care as much anymore about Xur since he can only sell like one or two things now that I would buy and so my Weekly Heroics are not essential either. I have been basically doing the Raid stuff and Nightfalls Tuesday and then the rest of the week just picking up whatever I wasnt able to finish Tuesday. I am like in minimal autopilot until Hard Mode hah

The weather here up in Chicago is super shitty and is supposed to be way worse tomorrow. I work full time at a university and get my masters full time and of course tomorrow night I have class right after work. All other schools in the area are already announcing closures. Not DePaul. They refuse to shut down the University and they make the schedule in a way that doesn't allow for days to be cancelled. I want to go to class, not work obviously but that means most likely Metra will be effed and I will be late to work and then my late night train instead of being an hour will likely be two.

Doesn't DePaul know I just want to stay home and play videogames anyway?

Well, yeah, if this damn Raid would give me Hunger of Crota I'd be set. Oh, and some helms (any of them).

I ran it 3 times last night and while I got some better armor for my Titan, and a Plan C from Crota (it was weird, it only showed up when we went to orbit), my Raid weapon drops were a third Black Hammer and second (or third) Swordbreaker (shotgun).

So this is now 15 Crota kills (or are we at 18 - I lost track) and still no Hunger of Crota or a helm. It seems you get between 10 and 12 radiant mats per run (assuming you get the second chest). I got 4E/7S, 6E/6S, and 6E/4S. So that was my first run where it was close to even, actually. Once I stored those with my others I had 65 shards and 34 energy. And I had previously spent 42 shards and 18 energy on armor so my totals for running the Raid at every possible chance over 3 characters (but we did miss that second chest the first week) are 107 shards and 52 energy. So there is a definite 2:1 skew towards shards which makes perfect sense. Since I didn't get any new armor for my Hunter, I decided to hit 32 which used most of my shards. After doing that and (previously) 1 piece each for my Warlock and Titan, I have a whopping 2 shards left. If I convert my 35 energies to shards I could not quite even get a second char to 32. Plus that would cost a ton of glimmer (not to mention Black Wax idols).

The group I was running with wanted to do it a fourth time since a couple of them had started new characters and wanted to run the Raid pre-reset (we started after reset but they hadn't logged out yet) and post-reset to get double rewards.

Since I was the new 32 (on my Hunter) they wanted me to be the Swordbearer. That didn't go well. I really hate Hunter jumps and can't get from the middle right up to Crota reliably. I wish I had leveled my Warlock or Titan instead. But for those chars I got better armor and have to wait to level that up. I got Titan gloves with the killing a Hive with critical has a chance to spawn an orb - by far the best Raid gloves perk.

Anyway, I couldn't get up there quickly enough and then when I was finally doing a decent run my controller decided to disconnect just as I was about to get to him the second time. DAMN! After that it was late (like 5am) and people wanted to stop which was fine with me (I wouldn't have gotten rewards anyway and was just doing it for the practice). It would have been nice to do a little better though. The one time I was able to wail on him good, though, I took 1/4 of his health with one set of attacks.

I didn't see much talk about it (just skimmed through all the new posts) but Nightfall is going to be a pain in the ass this week. It is Mars strike with NO burn modifier. Ugh... Hide in the stairs it is...

If anyone is doing that soon let me know (4pm Pacific today maybe Gotdott?). I need to knock those out today or I probably won't be able to do them this week. I have a training thing via WebEx that runs Weds-Fri at 8am Eastern. Yeah, that means I have to get up (or stay up) at 4:30 and thus no late night Destiny (unless I decide to stay up). But I'm too old to pull all-nighters ;).

I know most people on this thread tend to run the raid and nightfall early on Tuesdays, but if anyone is on around 9:00 who has not done them yet, shoot me an invite.

You guys are getting awesome stuff from the Nightfall. I'd be happy with a duplicate exotic I could break down into an exotic shard.

It is trolling me HARD this week. I ran it twice and got Secret Handshake TWICE. That is unbelievable. This is a "common" legendary shotgun. I say common because I've gotten at least 4 or 5 already. So basically all the Nightfall is giving me is two ascendant energy or whatever those break down into. Brilliant...

Anyway, I'll be back on around 10pm Pacific looking to see how hard the Nightfall can troll me one last time. If anyone needs help cheesing Crota I can do that too.

Sorry that happened man. I would have gladly taken the Thunderlord and you could've had the Suros Regime that I got since I already have one. My other run was bad too... 9 Ascendent Shards :wall: It is trolling me like it does io ;)

First chest on both my guys were Energy. I hope my raid drops are much better this time around. I think this is my worst RNG from the Nightfall for me in like 6 weeks or so.

 
I'd love to get a Suros too since I passed it up when Xur had it. But ever since then people keep raving about it.

Anyway, I'll be on in 30 minutes or so to do one more Nightfall and then the Weekly (x3) if anyone is available.
 
All I wanted from the raid was a helm and Black Hammer and Crota was kind enough to drop both. Pretty happy about that. Makes up for nothing but shards for two weeks. I also got Dragons Breath from the first chest.

So someone in our group had heard that you can get an exotic if you wait the full 4 minutes after killing him. Sure enough we waited to be taken to orbit and one of our group got an exotic weapon!

Damn you on that helm. I'm at 15 kills with no helm now.

I don't know about the 4 minute thing. But I did get Plan C to pop only after we went to orbit so something strange is happening - at least this week. I don't think we hung around for 4 minutes though.

I'd never even noticed any exotics from Crota at all before this week. Someone else got No Land Beyond but it was right along with all the rewards - though HE didn't see it until we went to orbit. So mine might have been the same way.
 
^^^ a rewards screen popped up, like the one after any strike or crucible and only his exotic showed there. Not sure if he would have got it going to orbit manually or not.


In other news, Nightfall was brutal, but the boss wasn't bad; me and another guy got up on top of the light and left the third in the room before the fight, when he had a sliver of life left we both died so we went to orbit and had the third call us back. It was a solid system. I got a skullfort, which is one of the few things Xur hadn't let me update yet. Pretty pleased with reset day :)
 
Didn't get anything I needed tonight.  Still no Black Hammer or Hunger of Crota, did get a 3rd fuck  Swordbreaker though.  No Helmets.  No warlock gloves.  Also I am at 68 shards and 82 energy so not a good split there either.  I can max my Hunter or Titan and then I'd have to convert a metric ton of Energy over to max another.  I haven't seen anyone pull a helmet in my last 6 runs.   

I did get my 5th or 6th icebreaker from nightfall but followed that up with 5 strange coins on the next one.  Guess I will have to shard a few of those.

The game must be trying to tell me to go play something else.  I think I'll probably just run my last nightfall and 2 weekly's tomorrow and walk away for a bit.  

 
Yeah, Nightfall trolled me good.

So I got those two Secret Handshakes (a legendary shotgun that I already had 3 or 4 of) the first two runs. The third run gave me 11 ascendant energy. Now normally I'd think that was a crappy reward but after what amounts to 2 ascendant energy (I broke one of the Secret Handshakes down and that was all I got) the first two times that was a hell of a lot better.

I did record a pretty cool clip of one of the other guys catching a ride on the Cabal ship that comes in after you kill the first guard.
 
Ugh. io you are getting the Broly luck!

It is three weeks in a row now where I have gotten nothing I can use, as in Shards, Energy and absolute garbage guns. I made 11 Ascendant Energy and 9 Shards with my 3 Nightfalls this week. Awesome. Same as the past two weeks except this time I didn't even score any Strange Coins.

My luck was not really all that better on the Raid either. All I wanted more than anything was either a Chest or Helmet for my Warlock with INT seeing as my current 32 build for her has basically none. I of course was super stoked that I got a chest piece then and then looked at it and it was nearly identical to my chest piece I already had with 150 STR. Lovely. Of all things then I ended up getting a Helmet for my Titan... the one character I didn't want a Helmet for really. I am still happy I have it and can now swap between Armamentarium, Ruin Wings and whatever the exotic legs are called, just stinks that it wasn't on my Warlock or even Hunter. Speaking of Hunter I did however finally manage to score some legs which means she can now be a 32 now as well and her INT, DIS and STR spread is pretty even, just like my Titan now. That isn't ideal but I suppose I would prefer it to be even across the board than a bunch of stats in just one that I wouldn't want (I am looking at you my apparently crazy buff Warlock haha).

Oh and I got another ship from Crota and the fusion rifle for the first time, which I will likely never use but I kept it anyway.

I did the math and as of right now I still need 3x of the second chest this week and yet all I need is 19 more Radiant Material to have all 3 of my characters at 32! Not too shabby. By even if Hard Raid is next week I still could have 3x 32's then after just running just the beginnings on my characters on normal. I still am holding out though on my Warlock however... ugh.

And of all things, I can't get my Titan to level 32 because I do not have nearly enough Platsteel Plating. Like I said before I just delted my 2nd Warlock and made my Titan right before the DLC and rarely use her anyway and so I have like 70 some Platsteel plating which is not nearly enough to level up a full set of Raid gear and an Exotic. Bah humbug. I wish you could just buy that material too, you can buy everything else now.

I have helms on both my guys right now. :whistle2: My Crota weapon drops are complete shit the last few weeks though. I have all 3 secondary ones (and now have gotten doubles of all 3) but have yet to sniff either heavy. Hell I still haven't gotten Corrective Measure from VoG and my last exotic bounty I got of the 5 was Super Good Advice. :bomb: Apparently I'm not allowed to have Machine Guns :wall:

That said, I have full set of raid gear on both my Hunter and Warlock. Just need to switch over Energy to Shards to hit 32 with my Hunter. Man the raid helm for him is so sweet looking! Looks like Eris bounties for me until reset, unless anyone wants to run VoG on hard because I am still determined to get a Corrective Measure and a Timepiece. I assume Ryu will be in for sure since he wants a FateBringer!

I refuse to believe there are actually helms in this Raid. They just don't exist. Also, Hunger of Crota is a hoax and you guys are all in on it to piss me off ;).

I may run VoG hard with you guys. I don't really need to other than to get Praetorian Foil (which I'd never use - I'm not even using the Crota fusion rifle). And I got at least 5 Fatebringers when I ran it before the DLC came out ;).

Otherwise I'm kind of already done for the week besides leveling up my Titan's replacement gear (new gloves and boots with better stats/perks) and doing longer-term stuff like ranking up Dead Orbit for a tiny chance at those cool shaders.

I imagine I can get that gear maxed in just an hour or two. Other than that maybe I could glimmer farm to convert energy to shards (though I can't get a second char to 32 regardless so I might as well wait till next week). Of course I might also need glimmer for Xur, though there isn't much left for me to upgrade at this point. Oh, and I may have one more Heroic Weekly to run.

Yea, this game has determined that I need back up Icebreakers for each of my characters :( Although a guy I ran Crota with said that he got 5 strange coins on all 3 characters from Nightfall this week so maybe I shouldn't complain.

Broly, I have the same issue with needing materials to level up armor on my Titan and Warlock since I played mostly on my Hunter at first. I agree you should be able to buy those mats or trade marks for them. How lame is it to have to transfer engrams to different characters and equip a bunch of greens you purchased each time you turn in a bounty just to generate enough character specific mats to upgrade your new armor. I guess I could break down some of this old Legendary armor, but they don't give you much considering you have to use 50 just to max a piece out.
