Detrot go up 3-1
I love seeing the Lakers lose:)!
Word. Still kinda bummed Pistons missed that opportunity to sweep, but...

you have no idea how happy it makes me seeing Malone, Jackson, Shaq and Kobe get frustrated and try to not look like they're starting to cry.

I haven't posted anything about the Pistons this whole week hoping they wouldn't get jinxed... I'll say it again, here's hoping they close it out next game in Detroit. :D

Oh, Hooptorus the Basketball God, please, don't let there be any shenanigans, referee-al or otherwise, that allow the Lakers to come back from this deficit the Pistons have engineered and win the championship. If you fulfill this prayer I will build a sacred court in thine name. Amen.

I kinda wanted LA to win the title so Payton and Malone could get their rings (and hopefully retire), but after hearing the media gang up on Detroit before the series started that's all changed.

My prediction, however, has not. Lakers in 7.

I know what you mean. Their crappy Olympic gold medals must taunt them whenever they look at them. I mean, without a ring it's all for naught. There's nothing as haunting as an incomplete set of bling.

I wanted Payton to win a ring when he was with Seattle a few years back, but not anymore. The way things are going it doesn't look like him or Malone are going to win it the easy way by just being a Laker. The Pistons represent hard work, tenacity and persistence which should be rewarded with the NBA championship.

I don't care if it's in 5, 6 or 7 games, Pistons all the way.

i remember when Sheed was with the Blazers and they almost one the tital- ahhhhhhh- then the lakers took it
(i live in portland)

the series ain't over yet, wouldn't be surprised if lakers win next 3 games.

"shaq-fu" the pistons
I think the Lakers are done. The Pistons are much better than they were given credit for.
i wouldn't count on that.. i'll give the pistons some props but the only team that can beat the lakers are the lakers. They should have won tonight but they didn't utilize their inside strength(shaq) and jacked up useless jumpshots. Considering how bad they played, they still managed to keep the game close

I must admit the pistons are alot better than i though they were. Lakers could win if the didn't have 7 minute stretches where shaq only touches the ball twice. billups is the reason the pistons are winning too quick for payton and too big for fisher. but hey atleast the lakers are still better than the kings have ever been.

Pure and simple, the Lakers are getting out-hustled. Detroit is crushing them on the boards. If the Timberwolves had played half as strong on the boards as the Pistons are in this series, this would be a T-Wolves/Pistons series.

And, the Lakers seem to be playing this series without the benevolence of their glorious Sixth-man with the Zebra stripes and the whistle (Though still, despite the fact that EVERY player jumps the line on free-throws, Shaq is the only one who gets to shoot again).

I believe detroit got 2 or 3 extra free throws for lane violations tonight too.

Faith nothing. That borders on stupidity.
You've seen the play of the series thus far.
What in the world gives you any belief that the Lakers can go and turn it all around? If they could do that, don't you think they would have already?

I heard a rumor that in Vegas, the odds against the Pistons were 5 to 1, but shortly before the beginning of Game 1, they changed the odds to 8 to 1, still against the Pistons. Kind of funny now to see how close the Pistons are to winning.
I'm loving it. Maybe if Lakers lose this series and the roster falls apart then maybe the Laker bandwagon will fall apart with it.
The bandwagon will fall apart, but a new one will surely form eventually. I remember when the Bulls were winning every year, everyone loved them too. Anyway, I'm glad to see the Lakers, in all their smug glory, seem to be going down. I am waiting for the Pistons to win that 4th game before I do any celebrating though.

this pistons are going to be the first Nba team to win a championship without a REAL superstar and depending on tuesday, the pistons might be the first HOME team to sweep the MIDDLE 3 GAMES. WOW, props to team ball. Think about it look at the past champions:
Lakers=Shaq and Kobe
Spurs=Tim Ducan
Bulls=Michael Jordan
Rockets=Hakeem Olajuwon
Pistons=Isaih Thomas and Joe Dumars
Lakers=Magic, Kareem, Worthy
Celtics=Bird
Sixers=Dr. J and Moses Malone
and so on. DAMN you LAKERS for being the first to give it up to a TEAM.

Oh no, not this again. I can see this being the case for one game here and there, but 3 (hopefully soon to be 4)? To be honest, the Lakers did not beat the Pistons in game 2, the Pistons beat themselves! The series should be over by now.

He was THIS important!

I love this lakers/pistons match-up...reminds me of those carefree days when i was younger.

I don't think this is exactly correct. I am not 100% up on my NBA history, but I remember the talk shows mentioning it will be the first time since like '79 that the NBA champ didn't have a true superstar. Golden State or Seattle was the last one to do it I think sometime in the 70's. Maybe Hall of Famer (or future HOFer) was the distinction...

After the game you could see a homemade sign that said "First ever 5 game sweep!" made me laugh.

That is funny!

Detroit has this series and LA just choked. They came out expecting to gravy train this series and Detroit is kicking their asses all over the court. Detroit wants it and LA just expects it to fall in their laps.

anth0ny: I hate to break it to ya buddy, but the Pistons mopped the floor with the Lakers and there is no way they can win 3 straight against this Pistons team. Maybe if Malone was 5 years younger and not hurt and Payton wasn't an over the hill scrub getting outplayed, but not now.

Funny how people think that the series is already over now that the Pistons are up 3-1 :roll: After all the Lakers been through this crazy season, you never know what to expect, and I truly believe that they will come back and overcome their adversaries.

Did you hear about the guy that was heckling Malone in game 3. They are not gonna charge Karl Malone, but go after those two so called "FANS". First they trespassed when crossed the line to heckle karl malone BEFORE malone came over to them. Then they said it was unfair they got kicked out and wanted their money back loss. they said they paid $25,000 for the courtside tickets from a scapler and wanted Malone or the Pistons organization too pay them back. Wrong move, it was illegal to buy scalped tickets so they are breaking the law. This is from an LA Paper, and TV.

How exactly are they planning on winning 3 games in a row against this Pistons team? Malone is hurt, Payton is averaging 4.75 PPG against Detroit (well below his 14.5 PPG average), Fisher has only hit 8 FG in this whole series and George has only hit 9. Kobe and Shaq can't carry that team against a team of 5 Pistons that want it so bad they can taste it.

LA figured out how to stop the Spurs offense by collapsing on Parker and Duncan, the Spurs floundered out and couldn't get the perimeter shooting on track to draw the defenders out. They ultimately couldn't figure out another offense. LA hasn't been able to stop the Detroit drives and their outside shooting keeps too many LA defenders out of the paint. Shaq and Kobe have been playing well, but the rest of the team has been non-existent. Now they are down 3 games to 1 and you expect them to magically get motivated to play well enough to win 3 straight? I don't think so. LA is finished.

Those guys are idiots.

Rule #1 - Don't admit to buying scalped tickets.
Rule #2 - Don't get drunk and heckle Malone.
Rule #3 - Stay off the fucking court.

It isn't like Malone punched him or anything. The poke was weak and those guys should have been tossed.

Pistons are playing some of the best D I've seen in years. Reminds me of the '93-'94 Knicks :) Hopefully Detroit can finish it tonight at home.

its over tonight. malone isn't playing. with Slava, Walton, and Cook being the other options at PF. NO chance. RaWEED Wallace and Ben Wallace is gonna smoke them on the boards tonight.
