For those that don't check Steam regularly, there are some great (imo) deals today worth mentioning.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - $16.99
This is a third-person shooter where you play as a security specialist named Adam Jensen. You can level up different abilities (known as augmentations), use a variety of weapons and different play-styles. For instance, you can choose to do a rescue mission where you kill everyone in your way, or sneak through it with minimal combat. There are also many different side quests to do. The graphics for this game are very impressive, the story is interesting enough, and the gameplay is great. Overall a great game.

Grand Theft Auto Complete Package - $12.49
This includes GTA 1-4, Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City. Basically everything. Too many games to describe here, and I'm sure most people know of this series anyway.

Super Meat Boy
- $3.74
I actually haven't played this before. But, I've heard from many of my friends that this is a great indie game.

Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 - $3.99
If you've played magic before, this game is pretty fun. If you haven't, I've heard it's still pretty fun. The game gives you one of three pre-made decks at the beginning. You can get more cards to customize your deck as you win against computer opponents. The ability to customize your deck isn't as great as the real thing, although it does make things easier for people new to MtG. Aside from the campaign, there are also custom games (both online and offline) where you can do free-for-all, team matches or co-op against a boss. One complaint I've heard, although I haven't personally experienced, is that some people think the game can be a little too hard from the very beginning.

Fallout: New Vegas
- $4.99
This is a good, but fairly common deal. I actually haven't gotten it yet as I'm waiting for some kind of GOTY edition with all the DLC's included. From what I've heard, the game is generally very good. Just like Fallout 3, there are many user mods available to change various aspects of the game including game mechanics, character appearances, quests, landscape, etc.

Civilization V - $10.19 (GOTY for $16.99)
Once again, I haven't played this before. I actually haven't played any of the Civilization series. I've only heard that they're quite good. If anyone who has played them feels like chiming in, please do.

Other stuff include Command and Conquer stuff (RA3, RA3:U, C&C4, C&C3:KW, C&C3:TW) for $4.99 each (no package deal ), Driver San Francisco for $24.99, Chronicles of Riddick for $4.99 and some indie games.

Build one.

Case: $50
CPU: $100
GPU: $200
MB: $70
HDD: $60
RAM: $20
PSU: $100
Mouse + KB: $50

Total: $650

Sure it's more now, but compared to how much money you will save with Steam and quality free online. Plus you get actual 1080p.

I still love my consoles though.

Parts don't magically solder and wire themselves together... or do they?

Think of it like a puzzle, all you need to do is connect each piece in the right spot and you're good to go.

Oh and install an OS, might need that :D

They do if you goto Memory Express. It's not that hard putting a PC together anyways. Well, guess that's easy for me to say since I've been around tech experts before. Plenty of tutorials online too.
It might not hurt to be more specific in the message title. Add "steam" or something? I dunno. :D
Haha, my bad. I was actually going to put it in the title, but it slipped my mind while I was alt-tabbing back and forth between the CAG and steam page. Anyway, added it now.

PCs are actually a lot easier to put together these days. Normally, there is no soldering or difficult wiring. You literally just plug stuff into sockets. Different parts have different socket shapes/sizes, so it's hard to mess up. The only things that aren't so obvious in my opinion are choosing the casing, motherboard and making sure you get a power supply unit that gives out enough power.

I find NCIX to be a pretty good place to shop for parts. They constantly have sales, and their prices are usually the lowest I can find from a major retail chain. As for choosing parts, there are many computer forums where you can ask for help. For instance, if you go to DesktopReview, there's a forum for PC building help. Here you can make a thread, state what you intend to use the PC for, give a budget and you will usually get several suggestions in a matter of hours.

But ya, like AftComet said, there are a lot of games that are much cheaper and can be played at much higher graphics on a gaming PC. And then, there are the games with a strong modding community (eg. Bestheda games). Although there are still some games I feel more comfortable playing on consoles, such as fighting and couch co-op games.
Maybe in the next year I'll build a PC... thanks guys.
It's an equal balance between fun and stress the first time going, at least for myself. I built a gaming PC last year for SC2, I was inept at the whole process but I found a decent guide that helped me through the rough patches. Funnily enough I still end up doing 80% of my gaming on console seeing as my desk computer hardly ever moves to the television.

I did move the computer over to the TV to play Zelda: SS (Dolphin emulator) though and man was it fantastic!

As for the sale I might pick up New Vegas, then again I still need to start my copy of Skyrim.

I own it on 360. I don't like it.

Solder?????

Wiring is dead simple. Trust me. Just search up how to build a computer and you'll see. Everyone always thinks it's difficult but it's a lot of fun. You don't have to be a genius to do it.

NCIX will build your PC for $50 if you don't want to deal with the hassle. I think there's a way to bundle it to save $8 or something along those lines. If you buy the OS from them they'll install that, as well.

Do... do people really believe this? :whistle2:s
It really isn't much harder to make a computer than it is to set up a home theatre.

What's been added to CIV V GOTY? I bought vanilla for $15 a while ago...

Total: $650
I was doing some research and thinking of building my first PC during the holiday. I looked up online articles on lifehacker and viewed a bunch of videos on youtube. It didn't seem too difficult and I was almost committed to it, but the price just turned me off. While I like the idea of knowing exactly what goes into the box, I figured that I could spend a little more on a decent notebook without the hassle of bargain hunting for parts and assembling it together. My room is small so I prefer the small footprint of a notebook.

I'm planning out the rest of my PC upgrade right now, need to settle on a Z68 motherboard. Was leaning toward asrock but having second thoughts. I do 99% of my pc shopping at Canada Computers.

I also own it on 360 and love it. It's a great 3rd Person Action Game, IMO. I liked it so much, I have 1000/1000 Gamerscore in it, just because I wanted to spend more time in that world. It really sucks that Pandemic Studios is gone, so we'll never have a sequel to this game (nor The Dark Knight game they were working on >.

Go with a GEN3 Z68 board, if you plan on upgrading to ivy bridge.
