Deus Ex HR $44.99 at GameStop

That is awesome, I am not going to dip that money on this game, but that is great info. Also, for the apparent TRU price from users in the thread. CHEERS

hmm...i have a ton of GS credit I was stacking for my preorders...wondering if I should pick this up now or wait until next week for TRU. Glad to see positive reviews on here I was on the fence about this one.
Only games worth getting day one are Call of Duty and EA Sports games
Disagree on EA sports games, give it 3 months and prices drop a descent amount and since most come out in fall you always score a nice deal during Xmas as with most games. Call of Duty will always have a giant fan base so you can get in whenever you want.

Nice price based on the positive reviews I have read. I'll hold off though until after the new year.. too many other games to spend money on in the coming months.

Can you remember such a high-profile well reviewed game getting such a big price drop at GameStop so quickly? Not a good sign...

It shows how gamers whine about wanting something different from the tired parade of cloned "Call of Medal of Halostance Zone of Duty Honor Next Higher Number" games, but when you actually give them something different, they turn up their noses and plan on taking off from work or school so they can get right into playing MW3.

HAHA YES THIS! I say this ALL THE TIME. So many gamers whine on a regular basis that nobody comes out with something different. Yet you get something that is getting amazing reviews like D EX and IS DIFFERENT and it's tanking.

If the gaming industry does crash any time soon it will be because of stuff like this. Devs are just going to stop trying and they'll keep pumping out only what's sure to make money. One day everybody is going to realize there's only rehashed crap in the market and by then it's too late.

One could argue that they're not worth getting at all, but I digress.
So what's GS's policy for cases where you bought the game day 1? Any price adjustment? Also, any word on the price of the augmented edition dropping?
This could be the funniest post ever.... hahaha, GameStop price matching something. That is HI-larious.

Exactly. Publishers are the ones flipping the bill for these games, and I know many development studios would probably like to do something cool, the publishers have them by the balls because of these unique games that fail.

It's sad when Shadows of the Damned and Deus Ex both tanked when bringing something new to the table (both of which I bought day one), yet madden outsold probably both of them combined in one week. Just give it a few years because eventually everyone is going to get tired of Call of Duty, and then there will be a moment when publishers wont have anything new coming out, and it will just be a disaster.

They could just be trying to funnel out more units before the rush comes. This week alone was meant with Resistance 3, Space Marine, and Dead Island(Another SE release). Gears drops in 2 weeks and its basically a major release every week then following. If they are advertising the sales as the iron is still hot. It should push a lot more units than just having the typical 1-2month price drop and so forth.

Of course this is merely speculation.

Is 600K sales in two weeks tanking? Shadows has what? 30K? That's a lot different, and they shouldn't really be grouped together.

Sure, it didn't sell as much as Madden, but what did you expect?

Right now, according to VGChartz, the three different platforms combined have sold over 820,000 copies of the game in its first two weeks. Anyone who scoffs at that number is sorely mistaken. This is a SINGLE-PLAYER game, and a sequel in a franchise that has been inactive for 8 years. I'd guess most gamers of this generation know nothing about the previous titles, let alone have played them. In comparison, Portal 2 sold about 1.2 million copies during the first two weeks, and I think it was much more hyped (and also features a co-op campaign).

Comparing this to Madden, a game that has come out every year for nearly two decades, which has a much bigger fanbase and infinite replayability with MULTIPLAYER is absurd.

I'm sure Deus Ex: HR is a great game, even though I probably won't be playing it anytime soon. But I wouldn't complain about its lack of sales or try to compare them to a monster multiplayer game.
I got the new GS email today and smiled at seeing Modern Warfare 2, a two-year-old game selling for $40 still. Too bad it's only console; I've got some GCs to burn and would buy the PC version.

This is a minor price drop, though surprising in its speed. The biggest price cut and run I refer to is how Beyond Good & Evil was slashed to $20 within 5 weeks of release in Dec. 2003 because it had tanked despite being universally loved by those few who bought it.
I'll give you that and raise you Front mission Evolved. Which was reduced to $19.99 with in 2-3 weeks of release.

:applause: Exactly.

By the way, as far as the people who "turn their noses up" at something new in gaming, a lot of the people that only buy CoD, Halo, Madden, etc. know very little about gaming. They most likely haven't even heard of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Most of my friends that play CoD and the like don't even know about Mass Effect, BioShock, etc.

That's a damn shame considering those are some of the best games out there...

People are saying it's kind of tanking because it's on sale EVERYWHERE already and at Gamestop we don't know if it's a sale (they rarely match other sales or put anything on sale so quickly for that matter) or if it's a price drop. Even if in actual units sold it's not tanking obviously on some level it is (be it retailers ordered to many and need to clear it out for other high profile games or what).

I may balance my cheap ass self with the gamer self and pick this game up. Although it will be from TRU on Sunday. ;)

xskaxninjax makes sense with the numbers. But I still want to go out and support what has been praised as an excellent singe-player game instead of waiting for it to get even cheaper. Because if we don't, and the only games that sell well are the Madden's, COD's, and such then nothing else will get made in time. There's nothing wrong with Madden of COD, but I want more variety and the spectacular story-telling that comes from some single player games like Bioshock and Mass Effect.

damn its crazy how much its dropped by within 2 weeks. i bought the augmented edition though, but i just cant bear the fact that unlike in europe, the US dont get no fuckin adam jensen figurine.

i want dat shit

According to NPD, Deus Ex was the best-selling game for the month of August, despite only being on sale for the last week in the month. According to this the NPD numbers were 244,000 sold in August, but this only includes retail copies. I'm sure it sold many copies on Steam and Green Man Gaming, so the actual number sold is probably much higher.

i was at gamestop today looking to buy a new SEALED copy all i saw was the opened one they called "New" so i went and asked if they had any sealed copies and they were like "no", i asked why do they called open copies new and they said because the disc wasnt scratched. lmao. i told them to fuck off ill buy it somewhere else and threw the case at the guy and ran out real quick

It was the only big release in august so it doesn't shock me that it was the best selling game last month. I am intrigued about this game (and the series for that manner) should I bite ? I do have resistance and gears 3 to tackle this month but this game seems really interesting

I don't think this is an indicator of failure. I think this indicates instead the fact they know they're facing big titles in the weeks to come and it's Squaresoft-Enix. At least on PC, their titles drop like rocks not long after release anyway, but right now they're facing Resistance 3, Dead Island, EA sports, upcoming Gears of War 3, Battlefield, Call of Duty, etc.

The next few months are going to be chock full of titles and the only way to stand out is to have great reviews and be "on sale."

I feel bad for the saps that bought the game and didn't keep their receipt to do the switcheroo. Or for those (apparently) select few who are too honorable to commit return fraud to get their $15 back.

I wonder how many new releases have to drop like a rock (Deus Ex, Portal, etc) before every CAG realizes that buying on release day is the easiest and best way not to be the cheapest of the cheap.

I have learned that a long time ago. Every game nowadays will see a price drop within the first month of being out. I used to pay full price on all of my games until I found out about this site. Instead of buying one game, I can buy around 3 used or two brand new. Patience is the key. For instance, I want to play Dark Souls but I'm going to wait. Plus my backlog is growing so I should finish some games before I buy any more...just my two cents.

While i fucking hate gamestop and their bullshit selling used games as new policy, that was kinda childish =P The policy is crap, and im not really sure how its legal. Fry's did shit like that with refurbished items being sold as brand new and they got sued. But gamestop has no problems doing it somehow. *shrug* I never buy them. The part that makes me lol is that I've seen them sell them to people and they put a little piece of tape on the corner... so if YOU take that little piece of tape off its not new anymore. But they can open it and do whatever they want. So stupid

ANyway, do you guys think GS will match TRU's sale price sunday? I thought i read somewhere that they were going to. Not sure if i'll hit TRU early enough to get it at 35 bucks

I've noticed that gamestop will match prices a couple of days after a retailer does it. If it gets matched we will have to wait for their Wednesday ad to see it

I doubt GS will pricematch TRU. If I were you I would try BB/ Target or Walmart.

It might have been childish, but deserved for how idiotic that is.

And seriously, for the umpteeenth time, GameStop NEVER price matches.
