Devil Survivor for DS

Will I be in trouble if I put my Vit at 8 (for Anti-Force - Passive - -50% damage from Force) and my Str at 8 (for Blitzkrieg - Auto Skill - 25% Mag/Atk increase) for the rest of the game? Or should I bump each up to 11 for Null Fire/Ice/Force? I'm also curious as to how long battles will get later on. I mean, if Magic Yin (Auto-Skill - 1.5x Mag damage, but 2x MP cost) absolutely outshines Blitzkrieg, I might as well just put Str at 6 for Anti-Fire only and pump up Mag/Agi instead.

8 Vit is somewhat risky on your first playthrough, plus you'll miss out on the various rise + jumps to boost your attacks, though end-game demons mostly have null/reflect/drain for phys/fire/ice/elec/force/mystic so its up to you whether you want a higher Vit.

8 Str should be fine if your going full Mag versus full Str, though once the Mag resistance demons appear you'll have to rely on your phys party members (which could be somewhat a hassle).

Magic Yin isn't unlocked during the main playthrough, it's unlocked once you crack it from a certain end path.

Hope that helps!

Well, I'm down to the last boss on Yuno's path. Gonna go Amane, then see if I'm feeling up to Kaido or Haru's routes.

Also, since one of the games Atlus is announcing for the 3DS is Devil Survivor, I'm really hoping for a sequel.

I hope the 3DS version isn't a straight port, im gonna guess they'll make the demons in battle 3D, and add more touchscreen support other than in the COMP Menu. Maybe they'll add Haru, and Honda as playable characters.

Can't remember what happened with Honda and his son, so a path for him would be great or it could tie-in with another path. Also a Midori comedic path wouldn't be so bad
They somehow turn into super heroes

I'd be totally fine if they added in more options EARLIER in the game rather than finally letting you have an opinion on your battles at the end.

Hey, maybe I don't wanna save civilians. Maybe I'd be fine with them dead. Maybe I actually support the views of the antagonists, how about not forcing me down the same ideological path until the last day?

I just noticed that Devil Survivor is a more modern/simplified version of Shin Megami Tensei sans the Allignment System.

The whole saving civilians seems like cookie-cutter method to show that the MC is lawful human, and that he can do no wrong (even in a lockdown.) Or it could mean they were lazy, and didn't want it to affect the main storyline without having to revise it.

Hopefully they add more to the 3DS version!

Just started this game yesterday, and I was surprised to already find it challenging on Day 1. The "Abobinable Snowman" battle is really giving me trouble.

Is Strange Journey more like a regular role-playing game? I didn't really realize Devil Survivor had tactical elements before I went in.

Yes. Strange Journey is a classic first-person SMT.

That's good to know. If I keep having trouble, I may flip it to Goozex and get Strange Journey instead. Strategy games aren't my strong suit.

I'd recommend to try new strategies. Believe me, this game is incredibly rewarding. The fight with the Wendigo is probably the easiest boss by far you'll encounter in this game.

I also think that Strange Journey is considerably harder than Devil Survivor, so if you are having a hard time with it, SJ is going to be a nightmare.
