Dewy's Adventure (action platformer) - in stores 9/19/07

The game certainly looks pretty darn good. Gameplay looks like a standard platformer, though I'm sure that the controls will be something interesting.

Original IPs, the reason why Wii will rock.

I saw the thread title and for a quick second thought it said Denny's Adventure.

From the video the game looks kinda "meh" at the moment, but that could change with time.
Is this that elusive "Action Game #2"?
Most likely.

What, no excitement over the buzz word being thrown around in the interview? Bump mapping on the Wii!

I think this looks really cool. I love the animatic style (reminiscient of Elebits without the Precious Moments characters) and the game itself looks pretty. Hard to tell what it will be like to play, but I agree with the early assessment that it falls into that Monkey Ball/Korinpa category of "move the world, not the character."

No way, the Wii can do bump mapping? Whoa, eat my dust PS3. We gots bloom in Metroid 3 and bump mapping in Dewey's adventure! Wii graphics just revolutionized the industry.

On a serious note, I'm 50% sold on this. 25% to go until I buy it. MarioColbert's percentage system is so hard, not even a PS3 processor could run it. But you could slap the shit out of it with a Wii-mote.

That game looks very, very cool.

Really tempted to preorder at GS/EB for the plush, but I'm afraid of failure.

I too want that plush. I missed out on the Elebits one, and I really liked that game. I have a feeling this team's going to put out another new Wii IP that warrants another plush.

I think I'll preorder online later this month. I'd be pissed if the game bombs, though, but I don't think it will. Looks fun.

September 4th.. I think I'll have to bite. I liked that Elebits had a relatively short playthrough time and something like this would compliment Metroid nicely.

I have this preordered at GS already with the trade 2 deal a few weeks back. If the reviews come out positive (80+ range) I'll definitely stick with it. Otherwise I may wait on it a bit. I've got too much other stuff to play anyway. I'll be well immersed in Metroid at the time, and, probably, Blue Dragon on the 360. This looks like one the kids will enjoy as well though, so that's always a positive.

I hope this is good, like 8-9 scores, and I will be REALLY happy. This could tide me over until SMG, and I've been waiting for a good platformer for the Wii. Plus the plush looks awesome.

I don't know. It looks more like an 8.3 than anything closer to a 9.

Sadly, the plush is what's probably going to give me that extra push to preorder this. I'm still really excited for the game though, I just hate paying retail. Too bad this comes out the same time as Halo 3...I'll be broke that week.

Ha, just realized that's the Halo date. So Konami sent this out to die in Japan the same day Mario Party and Hot Shots Golf released, and now they move it to Halo day in the US. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you put together a self-fulfilling prophecy about poor games sales on a Nintendo platform.

Luckily I don't care about Halo. :D

Gotta preorder this so I can get the plush... otherwise I probably won't buy it.

Another must-have for me. I haven't picked up Elebits yet (waiting for a price drop), but this looks really cool. The map building looks neat as well.

Hopefully it doesn't bomb in the US like it has in Japan. I don't want this development team leaving the Wii.

I know a few CAGs have this preordered. Anyone get it today?

Err, nevermind. Guess it got bumped a week? Whatever, bump for the thread!

Pseudo edit: shipped to retailers today, should be in stores tomorrow.

Hmm. Gamestop says 9/18. It definitely used to be in the 20s.

I preordered it from Gamestop online a while back to guarantee me the plush, and I haven't received a shipping notice yet so I'd assume it isn't shiping yet.

Can't wait to play this.

Impressions from neogaf user who has played through the entire game:
I'm playing it.

In fact, I've reached the final boss, but I'm not sure I can be bothered trying Story mode again, because it's the most ludicrous difficulty spike right at the end.

Otherwise, it's great - super level design, lovely graphics, and it's utterly charming. It's a real shame the last boss ruins it, as up to there it'd been great. I didn't even mind the boss rush because you got to recharge your energy inbetween. But there's nothing worse than a final boss that you take ages to defeat, and only then realise he has a second form, and you've virtually no life left to take him on with. And the first form takes about ten minutes to beat as it is, even when you know what you're doing.

I'm going to have a go of multiplayer and the level creator later on, both of which look interesting to say the least.
Still no shipping email, but in my account at Gamestop.com my order now says shipped as opposed to processing, so I'm assuming it did ship.

Since it's with a plush I'm thinking it may go UPS or at least better than Media Mail. So I should have it by Monday. Can't wait! So excited, since I didn't expect this to ship for at least a week.

Yeah, same here (except I do have a Wii backlog - just don't want more of one). I really wish Nintendo stuck with the earlier release for Battalion Wars. I'm looking at the end of October and I see 3-4 games I want day one. Battalion Wars would have given me something to play through October until all those others come out. Now it is likely to get buried. And then a few more come not long after in November (like, oh, Mario Galaxy). Not good...

All with 10/30 or 10/31 release dates: Simpsons, Beautiful Katamari (though EB says 10/15 which would be nice if true), Battalion Wars 2, and Viva Pinata Party Animals. I thought there were more - maybe I'm not seeing them all. I have high hopes for the Simpsons game, anyway. Jury is way out on the Viva Pinata Mario Party clone. The kids might like it though. Anyway, my point is Dewy will get lost in the shuffle, though I could get it and play it ASAP (though I'm spending all my time on Blue Dragon now).

You should be able to breeze through the main story mode in about 10 hours. There is greater replayability if you decide to save all of the other guys and mess with the level creation and multiplayer. Looks like it would be a good rental, but I hope people buy this game (it is tanking in Japan) and support new IP on the Wii.

I'm going to try to get my in-laws to buy it. They have mooched my Zelda and SPM purchases so it is time for them to repay the favor ;)

It's a shame it isn't doing well. Looks fun to me.

Looks like I'll be receiving it Friday via UPS. I'm hoping for tomorrow, but it's scheuled for Friday.

Dewey's happy face is so much more lively than the sleepy looking Elebit plushes. I might swing by an GS to see if I can pick it up with the bonus tomorrow.
