Dewy's Adventure (action platformer) - in stores 9/19/07

Compared to the DS Lite and the Elebits plush.

Aww...Looks like Dewy got himself an Elebitch.
I promise I didn't take the pics with those intentions! Just wanted to show the size of the plush.
Yeah, sure...;)

I hope it's just me getting used to the game, but I hate the controls. Too damn imprecise for a game where you can fall to your death all too easily. The little contraptions that suck you up are also too sensitive. Overall, I'm glad I got a plush with this.

1up review

6/10

For the record there are people who like the game, so considering the current trend I would say play the game and see for yourself how good or bad it is.

Can I get a shout out for the next PIKMIN! Enough with the dew and the elebits and lets make with the little flower men!!!!

Preordered it from the EB/GS trade-in deal, picked it up, just returned it last night (and kept the Plush - yes, evil, I know). I'll probably rent it this week, though, and pick it up again when it is sub-$20.

Haven't had the time to play since the day I got it. Disappointed to see so many people passing on this, though. I guess with poor sales in Japan as well we shouldn't expect another new game from Konami.

It just looks kind of Meh to me. And I have a strict policy of only buying the blockbuster AAA games (or at least what I consider to be AAA games).

Not much time for gaming these days, so I try to just play the cream of the crop and not waste time and money on B or lower titles.

If it was getting stellar reviews I definitely would have kept it. But $50 for a "sixer" just ain't gonna cut it. I already bought Elebits at full price (and enjoyed it, though perhaps it wasn't worth the $50) so I've done my bit to support Konami's Wii efforts. Should they put out an EXCELLENT game I'll be sure to buy it.

But, like I said, I plan to rent it in the next few days and play it this weekend. If I like it a lot, maybe I'll go buy it at Gamecrazy next week.

I'll be getting this from Gamefly tomorrow. Was already on it's way when I read the mediocre reviews. I will give my impressions tomorrow.

Played a bit of it. The ice world is the level that I hear complaints on. I have yet to try that level. Its worth a rental at least. I will probably hav more info later.

This game is out already, wtf?

Good job Kotaku and Destructoid for not saying anything!

Any way am I the only one turned of by the artstyle and music, it's just soo pukingly kawaii! Don't get me wrong I like games like Kirby and Mario, but this game is tooo damn cute!

Any way even though the scores are 6's, I'll try checking it out any way. There have been games with 6/10s I've loved.

I rented it tonight. It is OK so far (just through one world). I find the control frustrating though - in particular trying to jump on the little bumpers to get up to high places. The graphics are average. Yet the game is fun. My kids had fun with the level creator and the multiplayer, actually. I'm definitely glad I returned my preordered copy and rented it (for free). It's good enough that I'll likely put in the time before Friday to finish it. Hopefully that unlocks more of the level creation items (most are locked now) and my kids can have some more fun with that part. If they continue to enjoy that then I'll pick it up again later when I can find it for less than $20.

I just bought it and i think it's pretty slick. Reminds me alot of kirby, which is a good thing... Controls take getting used to but doesn't every WII game? This is actually the first game ive bought for the wii in awhile.

Well, I got my copy from Gamefly... and promptly sealed the return envelope about 30 minutes later. Definite pass.

The biggest strike is the controls. The biggest positive is that there is no underscanning.

Elebits didn't get glowing reviews either, sad to see so many people simply swayed by what some mainstream reviewers think.

I played through 3 worlds (I.E. longer than 30 minutes ) and I think it's a great game. I mean konami is one of the only companies that has given us some competant games for this console so it is a shame to see this game not recieving some more praise. The game actually reminds me of if marble madness, kirby and elebits had a kid

It doesn't take longer than 30 minutes to get a feel for the gameplay and controls. I'm not a huge fan of Wii tilt-controled games in general, but the controls on this one just weren't very tight.

Yeah, I played it for 3-4 hours, but just didn't feel like putting in any more to beat it before I had to return the rental. I'll definitely pick it up when it's cheap though. My kids loved the level creation aspect of it. The game itself is good but not great. I liked Elebits much more as it is definitely a more solid use of the Wii controls. I wish they'd make a sequel to Elebits and solve the framerate issues.

Well the thing is Elebits also got average reviews too but it has been my favorite wii game. it just seems like theyre both really underrated, I mean I dont know what you all were expecting, but I know what I was, a unique & fun platformer, and it delivered.

By the way, try not to be offput by the style of the game... I'm 21, with no kids, and I think the style of this & elebits is adorable and imaginative. This is seriously one of the better wii games and it's worth checking out AT LEAST, so sad to see it getting such little press.

I thought the opening was CLASS.

Well, I don't know what to tell YOU, but I thought Elebits was excellent (minus the crippling framerate issues at times), but Dewy was just OK. It all comes down to the control for me. Tilty Wiimote control is just not something I enjoy. I've heard it is implemented fairly well in Kororpina and Mercury. I have the latter coming from the Buy.com GCO deal, so I'll see how it works there soon enough. I think Dewy's a solid game, just not worth $50. It is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be by the way ;).

I strongly disagree. If I had only played Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3 for 30 minutes, I would have had a very poor understanding of how the bulk of the game plays. The majority of games start you off with over-simplified gameplay to ease you in. After only 30 minutes of play, I doubt you'd be much past that training period.

Same here. That is the main thing, in addition to the reviews, keeping me away from this game.

Just don't like the tilty controls. Even if they could work well, it's just not fun to me.
