Did a quick search, no results. Will there ever be a SSBM game?

...

SSBM = Super Smash Bros. Melee? No, there's won't be a Super Smash Bros. Melee.

There is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii and that's it... but I think I remember some rumors about about a DS/GBA version of SSB.

Just cause it has motion sensing controls doesn't mean that you have to use them for every game. Smash Brothers Brawl is one of those games where I don't wanna be moving my hands around instead I wanna be taunting the other people around me.

Smash Bros for DS with wifi would be pretty much awesome. Not sure if it'll happen but I hope it will. I can't see the controls being that much of a problem, I don't think it would suffer from a lack of analog controls that much.

While they're at it, throw in a Pikmin game, too.

I don't think I'd want it for my DS. As much as I love the series.. it's best to do it how it's right, so for the Wii I'll be happy.

On the other hand, I would love to see a portable Mario Party w/ Wi-Fi. I'm not talking about something like Mario Party Advance.. I want a true Mario Party with touch screen mini-games and everything. It's a perfect idea for the DS..

I think many DS gamers have been saying that since the creation of the DS. Nintendo isn't listening to us so far.

Although I did say Star Fox on the DS would be good to have on the DS a year ago or so ago before we knew it was coming but then didn't get it after it had bad reviews.

Maybe Smash Brothers will sneak up on us too and be a nice surprise. Maybe during the holiday season in 2007.

I doubt it'll be 07 if we see one at all. The Jump Super/Ultimate Stars series proves that a massive crossover would work on the system.

Not really. The analog stick is used, yeah, but the only 'analog' part of it is differentiating between walking and running. This is easily fixed too- double-tapping left/right to run would work just fine.

I'm sure Nintendo will release a SSB for the DS at some point, since it's pretty much guaranteed to sell several million copies.

I'm sure they are wel aware of the sales they can make of the game. 2006 was a big year for the ds, 2007 has big games too like the new Zelda, so I would expect to see it maybe in late late 2007 or early 2008. I mean really, theyd be fools not to make this game, even if it was crummy itd still make bucko bucks.

Now would be a good time given the lack of new DS games in December and not many scheduled for January.

Ultimate Card Games and Ultimate Brain Games is scheduled for January but we all know how many times those have been delayed (probably not a big seller though and nothing compared to what a SSMB would do in sales. There is also Pro Evolution Soccer in January but not a blockbuster hit either. There's some potential in some of the other games in January/February but nothing big.

They shouldn't release it anywhere close to the Zelda DS game. Sometime in 2008 may be a better guess unless they put it out for christmas next year.

Naw, SSB could definitely get around the analog stick easily. It doesn't really heavily rely on it.
the DS is still good for 2D games, and Smash is 2D, maybe the option for classical sprites of the characters would be sweet too
That would be very cool indeed, but after seeing the screenshots of DQ9 I'm sure the DS could handle a decent miniature SSB. At least SSB64 quality.
