CAGiversary!
Did Egon Spangler REALLY write Earthbound (SNES)?

I was browsing IMDB and came across a tidbit on Harold Raimis.

IMDB claims that HE wrote Earthbound.

----> http://imdb.com/title/tt0208332/

Now I'm a HUGE fan of Earthbound...
but I don't have it laying around to check the guide...

someone check this...
why on Earth is he associated with this project?

I don't expect that he actually wrote it...
but perhaps there is a character reference in the game that goes to his credit...

i know he wrote Ghostbusters.... and a ton of other crap I'm a fan of...
was there some credit to him in the game for some reason at all?

did they parody Ghostbusters or something?
i know they parodied The Blues Brothers... but that was John Landis and Dan Akroyd.

ANYONE?
ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE!?

thanks for the snide remark tankuki.... and thanks for your fast reactions Led....

NOW.... someone help me out on this!

its FREAKING ME OUT!

Lucky for you, I can't sleep and I decided to help someone out. I found this article about the NES Earthbound game that was never released, but to get information, they talk to the English script writer, Phil Sandhop.

That probably won't convince you, b/c the IMDB listing is pretty hard to deny. I think any boob can submit info to IMDB, though, so it might be a mistake or trick of some kind.

It seems rather improbable that of all the things he's done that his only video game is completely unrelated to his other work. USing Google the only connection to anything Nintendo I could find was that he once appeared on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show according to this site: http://www.loogslair.com/vgame/shrine/audvis.html

Considering the huge crossover fan base for his work and video games it seems unlikely he could have been the English writer for Earthbound and not have this mentioned on a zillion sites. Not to mention, Earthbound wasn't much of a writing job. It kept most of the jokes from the Japanese version but was pretty typical in the clumsiness of the translation.

OTOH, I was surprised to see Ramis is about a decade older than I would have guessed. Hard to believe he's over 60.
