Did u notice "Best Seller" is on the front of the Paper Mario box?

jimbodan, why not keep'em both. it's beginning to sound like baseball cards here.....

on the best seller tag; take LoZ:WW and slap on both PC and BS makes it unattractive to collectors.

original = best.
error = rare, possible high collectibility value.
re-issues, 2nd prints = not much going for it.
There is no way I am going to keep both, I like to collect, but I'm not quite that hardcore, I'd just like to get the rare one now, since I basically have my pick and they are both the same price. I'd just hate to give back the bestseller one only to learn later that it was an error, or it was only on a certain printing. Same thing goes with the one W/O bestseller, I don't want to give that back only to find out every version of Paper Mario from now on will have it.

I have 30 days to return one of them to Gamestop, so far it seems it would be best to take back the bestseller one, but does anyone have any information on rarity?
I'm going to say that the non-best seller copy will be worth more. If they are printing copies with the seal this early in the game's life, they will probably print many more games, also containing the seal. All of those first pressed versions will be the more collectible versions, IMO.
I'm leaning that way too, however is there a possibility that the Best Seller logo was an error? And that it was only on the first printing? I just E-mailed NOA about it so we shall see if they bother to respond.

Well NOA contacted me about my cover question, unfortunately they just gave a generic "we don't know why some have the logo and some don't, but I assure you both games are the same" Well no shit! I replied asking if they know if future copies will have it or not, so we shall see yet again what they say.

That's a very interesting way to look at it, Bergley. Nice creative mind at work there. However, according to joystickz, all the newest batch of Players Choice titles have the same Best Seller logo printed onto their inserts. I still prefer your version of it though, if that means anything.

Hmm I somehow missed that post, but if all the player's choice games now have that best seller logo then I think it is pretty clear that the Paper Mario's without it are the ones to have. Can someone else confirm that all the new batches of the PC titles have the best seller logo? I guess the newest ones are Zelda and Mario Golf, so does anyone with a PC Zelda or Mario Golf care to let us know if their copies have the best seller seal?
Only paid 16.88 for it at target so i dont care what copy i got
Its only 16.88 at target!!

No... he had a raincheck mistake I believe...

jimbodan,

To be honest....I think down the line, the difference in price between these if you're going to sell a sealed copy will be negligible. Maybe a difference of $25-50 dollars in price for the rarer one...5 years down the road? Maybe? Hardly seems worth concerning yourself with. And if nintendo comes out with a Mario collection on a future console they both could be worth next to nothing. It hardly seems worth worrying about.

Yeah, I've got to agree with jshorr. While I would prefer one Paper Mario insert over the other, and I don't particularly like GH/PC/PH boxes, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to spend a premium just to get something that doesn't have any actual exclusive content. And after Bergley's fun little POV, I really don't care if there's a little extra "Best Seller" logo on my box.

I think that all depends on if the non-best seller copies were only first prints, if every other paper mario 2 game has the logo then I do think people will start to pay a premium for the ones without it. I agree that it's not like the one without it will be hundreds of dollars higher, and I think 25-50$ more is probably about right, and that's just the thing, right now they both cost the same, so why not try and get the one that will be worth 25$ more later on?

I'd really like to get some confirmation on whether or not all PC gamecube titles now have the best seller logo on them?

I hadn't even known that there was a difference until I read this thread. I ran to check mine and sure enough it is the one without the Best Seller logo. I already opened it up and really don't care which one I have but its nice to know that if I must, and I mean must for some raeason sell it, it's nice to know it might get a few esxtra dollars. Also I would say that I'm a partial collector. I really don't like all the GH/PH/PC logos but if I really watn a game than I don't care and would get one of those. Not that big of a deal really. I wish they would do that to Marvle vs capcom 2 for both Xbox and Playstation 2 but alas it is OOP and Capcom lost the license.
Now however, I'd like some confirmation on whether every copy made now will have the seal? I know the first printing doesn't have it, and second printing does it, but someone here said that ONLY the second printing will have it. So now I don't know which version is the one to have? I'd find it hard to believe that it would only be the second printing, so it looks like I'll exchange my sealed copy with the seal somewhere for a sealed copy without it.
I don't think anybody here can confirm this - none of us works for Nintendo, so we can't be sure of their plans.

You'd better buy one of each, just to make sure.

Apparently even Nintendo couldn't confirm, I e-mailed them and just got a "we don't know" I just going to assume the non-best seller one is better, so I returned the one with the logo.

Can people post where they bought their non-bestseller copy of PM2 at?

I've looked at Target and BestBuy (I haven't been searching, just when I'm at a store, I'll look) and both had the BestSeller seals on them.

I was wonderin' the same thing. Oh well. I didn't see any w/o the seal. It is mighty wierd that they did that. I do like my videogame collection but this just bothers me very little that I didnt' get the other version.

My gamestop had a whole self full, all non best seller

Yeah.

I was hoping somewhere that I could use a coupon or raincheck would have the non-seal ones.

Which version does TRU have?
Yeah.

My tru had only best seller copies

Someone said their EB had non "Best Seller" copies. jimbodan, if you find out recently that one version is worth more you could always go back and get it.

I stopped by Best Buy today, and noticed that their PC copies of Zelda: WW had the "Best Seller" tag on them, as well. It looks as if this is some new branding by Nintendo, but I'll be damned if I know why they're doing it. It looks tacky to me.

Reality's Fringe]A Wal-MArt near here had non-bestseller copies. Although it doesn't reslly mater to me. If I can get it for $33 at TRU said:
Yaeh I got the non best seller one just by accident but really who cares. I love the game, I picked it up at BB by a PM of Fry's.

You all realize the non-logo copy being more valued than the regular copy at sometime in the future is near impossible right? Its a very well-sold game, not something rare in and of itself and the logo does nothing to the game. This is not a GH/non-GH situation here where you have an entirely different case that sticks out like a sore thumb.. its going to carry the exact same value as the logoed version.

Hey I wonder, I got the best seller (bs) version at TRU as part of the sale. Do you think I go to my local Walmart, and assuming they have the non-bs verision could I buy that one and return the bs? Anyone else do this or know if they will ring differently?

I think anyone that bitches about a freaking sticker shouldn't be playing video games anyway...go collect stamps or coins, i've been playing video games since i was five back in 1979 and i can tell you one thing, a box doesn't mean crap to me, I mean hey cool, if i get one that has a gh/bs/ph/etc. (stcik random sale name here), or is it when someone asks you down the road you're embarassed to say you only paid 19 bucks or cheaper for it, instead saying "oh I got it the day it came out" who the F cares? I play games, if they suck I trade them in, if not I keep em, I think my 2300 video games can attest to that. lates :D

I agree. Lots of games have had varied inserts that have had little difference in price value. The first printing of Gundam Battle Assault 2 had the misspelling "Gundum" which has fixed in the second printing, yet both titles are worth exactly the same.

Keep in mind that Paper Mario is a Nintendo Title. How many rare Nintendo games can you name? When it becomes a Player's Choice title and starts selling for $20, people aren't going to be seeking out something as insignificant as a small label variant.

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only rational person here. Who the hell cares about a friggin sticker? Last time I checked, once a game becomes a best seller, it usually stays that way

OK! I got it! New Zelda WW have a BEST SELLER stamped on the cover art. This must of been meant for that on NOT Paper Mario! Company Error?
