Did You Get Your Wii Pre-Order?

Blaine

CAGiversary!
I was #4 at GameStopEbGamesStore. There were 18 total systems that they were taking orders for. A few of the late comers said most of the stores in the area were already filled, many having well over 30 people for about the same number of consoles.

It's a small step towards getting the system, still gotta camp out for the launch though.

Anyone else get thier preorder in?

I got mine, but not at GS/EB...

Nintendo World Store must be getting an allotment in the thousands, since they've been taking PO's for awhile now and still have yet to stop... They also guarantee launch day. Rock.

I got mine too! Just not at GS/EB, after years of them forcing bundles and other bull shat I jumped on the amazon wagon as soon as I saw it and thankfully I got on it in time. Congrats to those who got their reserve on and I hope that we all have a great mid to late November.

Just because I think I wrote this amusingly, I'll post it here (it's in 2 other threads):

Before this morning, my answer would have been emphatically "yes," solid and unshaken.

But after the surreality I just experienced, I'm going on the fence, if not completely upon the other side.

As I rounded the corner to the Gamestop in the mall amongst roving bands of old people walking laps, there stood before me no less than 15 college age men, running the gamut from supreme game and anime nerd to casual Apple demographic metrosexual to, oddly enough, one guy sitting down holding a PSP of all things.

Instantly they all - pack-like - rose their eyes and pinpointed me, with ancestral, instinctual bloodlust. For I was the new prey.

Loudly, and without hesitation, one of their kind asked in a tongue known to only Nintendo fans - Eeii glok ku ler Wii? - which, if you are a Nintendo fan, translates in our broken English to roughly "Wii get?"

Knowing the history of the clans and their ancient ways, I replied with Aont me laa Wii, which our pathetic language can only directly transcribe as "Indeed, Wii get."

Their faces took a strange turn at this point, showing a common and shared motive. For they knew, based upon my mastery of the Nintendish, that my efforts would be in vain.

Ok ku laa Gamestoppu fren ti laa lu.

Immortal words resonating still, "13 Wiis get, now captured."

I was informed further, with the aid of blood rituals, that my arrival was nary a few hours late, and that several of the hunters had been in place since "chosh modash," meaning "big dark," a phrase we Englishians commonly call "10 PM."

We passed around a ceremonial feast of our enemies - melted PSP units and old XBL head sets - in commiseration with the help of a small fire, and compelted the great Iwataton in reverence to the great Reg A'Ih.

One of them noticed I had carried in a Chuck Klosterman book, provided to props give (Gungstamosh), and informed me that Sex, Lies, and Cocoa Puffs was a personal recommendation.

I remarked that "I expected this out of the PS3, but not for this." This incited much hearty laughter and speak of "tanking" and "Sony" and "bad."

I warded around with my brethren for a few more minutes, accepted my defeat, and left upon the back of a great wildebeast, which I had spotted in its natural habitat of Victoria's Secret. Her name was Cheryl, and as a beast of burden, she was no disappointment.

In short, after this morning, and learning that 16 people were at GS where only 13 units were available, that those people had been turning down newcomers since 4 AM, that another 5-6 people came and left dejected while I stood around, I have strong reason to believe that this is a little larger than I've given it credit for.

I have already informed my girlfriend that I will now, officially, be indisposed of the higest order come November 19, and have built a rather elaborate buffer of the 17-20, such that come that eventful night, my actions have been spoken for and will not be questioned or challenged.

This is due in no small part to the fact that I feel the anticipation for the Wii - which I had already seen appealing to several young men, none of whom were afraid to announce the name across a mall's interior - is greater than I originally perceived.

Yeah, I read it earlier. You done good.

It wasn't quite that out of hand where I was, particularly since it's a mall and it only opens at 7. I was there at about 7:20 and wound up 4th. It stablized at about 7 people right up until 9:30 at which point in time people were running in and crawling out of some deodorant-repellant woodwork.

I figure that launch day might be equal, considering all the EB managers saying they will be getting more than 18, it's just the minimum they would possibly get. So there's gonna be part two to this saga.

If anyone was at either EB or Gamestop this morning in Bristol, I was the one pitching the fit at both stores when I was told that the person ahead of me in line would be the last one to get a Wii. Meaning I was SHIAT OUT OF LUCK!!!!!! Farkin - A!!!!!!!!
Im still not over it.
ARGH!!!!

#2 of non-employee preorders, so #7 or 8 overall (couldn't really hear the guy since they were doing insanely lound construction next store).

2 out of 11 right behind Wolve22, who beat me to the front :p Already paid it off and will be picking it up on 19 @ 12:01.

I got in on the Amazon pre-order thing, but I'm a little worried about it. Last time I pre-ordered something on there it kept getting delayed until I found it somewhere else and cancelled it. I might end up camping out for one and then returning/cancelling the Amazon one. What is you guys' experience with amazon pre-orders.

Hit the 2 outdoor stores here at about 6:30 this morning, both full with people in tents... then I decided to take a long shot and hit the mall. Thinking that everyone would have tried there first due to the indoor heating, I wasn't expecting much. I got there around 7 AM and I was #8/8... I was pretty excited to say the least. :D

Nope, didn't try either. I did go to EB for another matter this morning, however. I witnessed two grown men almost cry when they were turned away.

I got mine and am #4 in line. Dunno how many employees ahead of me. Got to the mall at 7:30am. Also witness droves of old ppl walking the mall.. Including my neighbor

Nope! Camping for pre-orders? Ha! fuck that. They're shipping 7 million of them.
Haven't decided if I even want the thing yet.

My local EB is getting 21 units, 14 employees pre-ordered and 7 were left for customers. I got #3, but I still think it's weird that the employees can pre-order that many, guess they want to make sure their friends and family are covered.

Limit for employees is 4.

I got an amazon preorder. Here's a fucking dilemma, do I sell that preorder on ebay? Christ, I could make some $200 profit probably....

My Amazon preorder is my backup in case I can't get one on the 19th. It will be sold to a friend or here on CAG if it becomes an extra.

I got Amazon and Gamestop being I want play Zelda 1st day on sunday and I know they don't have mail on sunday. So Amazon will be a backup or maybe Ebay if theirs any profit in it.

Well I'm about 99% sure I'll be able to get one on the 19th if I want, but I was getting it on amazon to save money on tax :p.

Yes I got one and also preordered an extra Wiimote and Nunckuk, Classic Controller. As for Games I preordered Zelda, Red Steel, Rayman, Metal Slug and Trama Center. Happy Friday!

Considering Moneky Ball because I keep hearing real good things about it and how it controls with the Wiimote.

Also picked up God hand! R.I.P. Clover Studios.

Haven't decided if I even want the thing yet.
Yeah I'm in the same boat with you. I bet if I decide to get it, it will be sold out.

I'm number 6 out of the 9 non employee spots at my eb. I have an amazon preorder too, but I dont know if that ones going to ship, although I would like it to since its $246.07 with no tax. Didn't want to take a chance though on amazon not coming through so I got the eb one too.

haha same with me I got from amazon hoping to save on tax. how did you get from amazon for 246.07 though mine was 249.99 what kind coupon did you get?

Are people really worried they won't get one? I mean, Nintendo has made it fairly clear there will be a ton of Wiis out before Christmas. I didn't think people would line up to pre-order it. I wonder how many think they'll get rich eBaying it only to discover they're stocked in every store? ;)

It's really hard to say on the demand of this. Truth it really weird if doesn't sell out launch day. Yeah they probably will have another shipment before xmas , but people want launch day also. Will just have to wait and see what ebay holds for it. I think won't be crazy money off ebay , but I think may be something there.

Pre-ordered mine today at EB Games in Columbia, TN. The guy said they were taking only three more after mine, but he said they were sure that they were getting them at launch (but he wasn't sure about the PS3's). The pre-orders sold out in about 15 minutes.

I had only one class today from 8-10:30. I finished my class and was about to leave the door when my friend texted me. He was supposed to go down to the mall and reserve a Wii, but he woke up late. He asked me to reserve a Wii for him and he said he would pay me back later.

So I drive down to the mall and go to GameStop. I go on line and there are three people ahead of me. This one guy gets a Wii for himself. He leaves and there are two women left one line. One of these women wants to get Scarface the game but doesn't know if her kid wanted the PSP or PS2 version of the game. The guy was about to sell her Scarface for the PSP when I stepped in and told her that her son probably meant the PS2 version of the game as the PSP version was supposed to be pretty bad. She says okay and she picks up the PS2 version of the game.

Now the other woman wants to preorder the Wii, but she has a few questions. She asks about the console, the Wiimote, etc. The employee explains to her how the Wiimote works, how you can play virtual console games, about the online network, about the Mii's, about playing GameCube games, and also about the nanchuk and D-Pad (his name for the classic controller). The lady then puts $250 down, but before she leaves she says that she is very confused over all these technical terms and the complex controllers (which I found to be funny).

I am finally up and I preorder the Wii and put $250+tax down (using store credit I had). I am surprised to learn that I am the 17th person to preorder the Wii at this store today and they were getting 18 in. This is pretty amazing as this mall has 3 EBgames/GameStop stores. I checked out the other two stores after I left and both of them had already sold out.

The Wii is going to do very well this year. Nintendo is going to make a ton of money off of the DS and Wii.

I pre-ordered at Amazon, I'm not too concerned, mainly because between classes and work, I won't have time to play until I go home on Wed for Thanksgiving anyway.

I chose not to preorder because I am going to get it a Costco and save some money and get a bundle deal through them. I have no worries about getting one but I will definately show up a little early just in case.

I was 22nd out of 28 preorders that they were taking. I got there about 8:30 AM and watched the old people walk by wondering why 20-some people were waiting outside of EB. When one girl came by and asked what we were all waiting for, a bunch of people yelled out "Wiiiiii!" like how people yell out "Whooooo!" when Ric Flair comes out, but more nerdy. The guy behind me was strange to say the least, as he kept talking to himself for the two hours we were in line. The last guy, a guy I know, pledged his plutonic love to the guy running the line when he found out that he was the last guy, which isn't a strange thing considering he's French-Canadian.
I was number 3 in line but turned out to be 7 because of the fucking employees. 7 of 12.
I don't get why people have curse out employee if they want buy the system their not stealing it no reason why they can't be allowed. You can curse them if their an ass about it though.

It pisses me off that they did not stand in line to get theirs. Only one employee was standing in line this morning. At least he waited with everyone else.

Yeah , but they work at the store if guy is working at the store that morning he should be allowed , but another guy that is off shouldn't. Also a guy at my gamestop waiting online worked at another one , but I guess wasn't allowed to pre-order at his so he was on the line.

As has been mentioned by myself and a couple of other CAGs who work there... we have absolutely no information in our system about the Wii yet (except for Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam which has an entry listed), so don't completely rely on Costco just yet.

I have my Gamestop pre-order from today as well as the Amazon one. Not that I think there will be a shortage, but in the event that something goes awry, I will leave my Amazon pre-order open and sell it to a CAG at cost + shipping.

Up until like this week, amazon had a promotion with their search engine a9.com. If you did some searches every week, you would get pi(the number, 3.14......)/2 % off. So while most things its garbage getting 1.57% off, it was decent with the wii. Im sad that they got rid of it.
