Diddy Kong Racing vs. Phoenix Wright
The thread should've been a pole here people suggested which game to get--and that it's. There's no discussion, no arguing, no objective solution to the issue at hand. :)
Thanks, that is sort of what I meant it to be in the first place. Not a "which genre is better" debate. Oh well, it's pretty fun to read! :D

But everything around here has to turn into a freaking debate, it just gets under my skin sometime. No ill will to your post at all. :)
No it's not, it's exactly what daroga said - that we like one over the other. You don't seem to get this at all.
*BUZZ* Bogus. The vibe from a lot of people is that it's fact Phoenix Wright is better. I've never said anything other than not everyone likes the genre. I've never bashed the game.

It's just that every thread I've seen you in regarding these types of games, it's one endless droning whinefest about it. Hotel Dusk is a good example, going into the thread, seeing it was that kind of game, and then offering a completely useless "well these types of games totally suck imo" sort of response.

As other people responded to you IN THAT THREAD my response was not useless, and it was not "these games totally suck" at all.

I'm sure if someone really wants a racer, they'll get a racer. It's not like you can't tell these two games apart.

Apparently not judging by a lot of responses in this thread.

And you have a problem with this.

Why?

You have no valid reason outside of personal preference - the same thing people are using to begin with to state why they like the game. They like PW more. It has nothing to do with genre, which you keep turning this back into.

Your whole thing about "people think it is better." 1) So what? Again, opinion. 2) Are you somehow saying we can't compare games of different genres? Again, genre is irrelevant here. Beyond that, yes, I can safely say Phoenix is better than a game of another genre if I want, if I think that other game isn't as much fun as PW, or if it sucks. So it is better than Superman 64. Insane, I know.

Maybe you should address my what-if concerning Castlevania. Would you be bitching that we are insane for liking a side scrolling game over a racer? I'd imagine so, which is a ludicrous proposition.

The fact that you can't see this - even after being told it numerous times - means you are either slow or stupid.
And you have a problem with this.

Because I don't like people arrogantly claiming it's and it's genre are superior to everything else.
Because I don't like people arrogantly claiming it's and it's genre are superior to everything else.
There's a problem there, though. I don't like you arrogantly claiming that not only is DKR better than Phoenix Wright, but that it's the best racing game ever.

See, it's a two way street. :) You need to accept the people have different preferences, and if they want to think that those games are the best out of any genre, what's it to you? Play the games you like and let others think what they want. Give your opinions, sure, but being upset because people have different opinions is silly. :)

I didn't. I said in my opinion it is. As in I enjoy it more than any other racer.

I wanted some realism thrown in to a thread that until my post had been a PC-style adventure love fest.

Strell makes my day, nearly every day. :D

Daroga does when his sig shows up.

I picked up DKR and FFVI from the BB deal and DKR is, IMO, really really sloppy looking. It plays well and was fun for the hour or two I gave it last night but it looks really really rough around the edges; much moreso than the SM64 DS port or pretty much any other 1st party game I've seen to date on the DS.

What's the Best Buy deal?

I thought DKR looked terrible from the videos I'd seen. I wonder if Rare isn't devoting the time to it they would have if they were still owned by Nintendo?

Or maybe it's just 'cause DKR was one of the best looking N64 games? They actually managed to make it not look blurry by turning on and off effects (that the DS doesn't even have) depending on how fast you were moving.

Best Buy Deal = (roughly) buy two games released in their ad and get a $10 gift card

I bought FFVI and DKR, used two GGC and the $5 gamepro coupon, got the gift card, returned DKR and rebought it using the free gift card. Total cost = $37.95

It pays to have friends managing stores you shop at. :D

Oh, thanks! I remember that deal now. It slipped out of my mind because the only game I wanted from it was Diddy Kong Racing...and $25 seems kind of steep if it's not a perfect (or better than perfect) port since I've already played it.

 I have a hard time getting them to follow their own deals sometimes :D
