DigitalLife - Sept 2007

I'm planning on going to DigitalLife this September for the first time. Has anyone gone in the past? What's it like? Any cool give-a-ways?

from what I read... it's a consumer trade show.. so they make it for real gamers. they have tons of game previews and this big pro/am gaming tournament. it's also for technology stuff. Dell does a computer gaming exhibit too I think. I found it by accident... digitallife.com (does that sound too spammy? I don't want my post to get ripped down!)

It seems like it's getting bigger each year. I remember last year there were full page ads in every magazine.

Don't expect it to be a big newsbreaking event for games, but I'm sure it will be a fun experience either way. Hell, you can't beat 12 bucks either way. Cheap way to kill a day.

I went there 2 years in a row. I liked the first year that I went a lot better though

I'll probably be going again this year, over in NYC

They've got one in NYC? I might make the journey over there and check it out.

I went last year and it was pretty fun. I got to go for free (yay press pass) and will probably go for free again.

I actually got an invite from one of the coordinators to go to an event in a hotel. I think it's kinda like a mini-Digital Life, with cocktails. :p

I went last year (also with a free pass), and it was pretty cool; plenty of game demos and other things to see. Will probably check it out again this year :)

I hope they move DigitalLife away from jacob javits center, that place is so small. A good place checkout latest technological stuff for free or next to nothing.

Do they give stuff away? Are there a lot of demos? The website doesn't explain a lot but they have a lot of big names that came last year.

I'm not a fan of the Javits center either... but where could they move it?

I can shed some light, been going to DL since its first year (really went there for a ddr tournament but i stayed longer cause it was a pretty good expo). You will def. walk out of the place with at least 1 free t-shirt. So far i believe i received a t-shirt from:
Tylenol, Logitech, Mets, Fatal1ty, alienware, zen micro, ask.com, FF12, nintendo, and prolly missing a few more. Pretty much if you want some decent stuff show up the first day they let the public in(cause the first day is usually for the press and such). There's a lot of contests and raffles. If you can get in for free great(do some research online not very hard), or pay, either way free swag and decent amount of game demos.

Im still making the pilgramiage, but like the last 2 years Im bringing a bunch of my friends with me so it'll be a bit difficult to be in 2 places at once if there was a CAG meetup. GL though!

I attended DigitalLife on 2005 and missed 2006 because i was out of the country... 2005 was great! Got FREE TIVO in exchange of vhs tape and also their stuff toys... man, i wish Tivo will do this again... Got a bunch of giveaway shirts... i got 7 free t-shirts to be exact... got 2 messenger bags, 1 from Intel and also usb thumb drive from intel as well...won in their contest... Got some FREE pins, pens, keychains, mini pads and many more! Got 3 pairs of earphones from Creative Zen, as well... I can't wait to attend again... i got FREE tickets from Bestbuy... as a reward zone member... Thanks BB! see you guys there!

ah just an CAG related update, it seems for those of us that are going we might have to do some wombat spotting. Wombat mentioned he might go on press day but I have a feeling he'll miss that date and just go on the weekend. I personally will be looking for a real life version of the cartoon wombat.
for another cheapassgamer, surre

just type in DLFRIEND for the source code when ordering online
Thanks; it worked!

I think we're gonna try and go on Saturday (and actually get there early this time). There doesn't seem to be a list of featured games up on the site yet; hope there's some good stuff, though.
