Curious about Knights of the Old Republic. Have heard fantastic things about it, and for $5 it seems like a steal. But doesn't it usually go on sale for even cheaper at other places?

Anyway, how similar is it to Mass Effect? Is it a different enough experience to warrant a purchase?
