The right on my D-Pad is not responding as well as I think it should. How difficult would it be for me to open up the DS and take a look myself? Has anyone had any experience? Would it be worth it or would I be more likely to fuck things up further?

I had registered my DS on Nintendo.com, so I just had to provide my serial #. Even considering its age, I would call them if I were you. You don't have anything to lose, and its been my experience that the phone reps are much more helpful than Sony or Microsoft's

Well I tried Nintendo. It was out of warranty and the repair would be $85! I told the guy I'll just buy a used system for that. O well. I'll see how bad it gets before I take it apart.

These are some excellent ideas, thanks for uploading the video too. They are all really helpful. My Nintendo DS has also had some problems, but I have been able to fix them thanks to some of the comments in these forums. I also like to visit Nintendo Repair Shop, because they lots of information about fixing Nintendo systems on your own.
