DNS Malware Infection Could Make People Lose Their Internet Access

Not a big deal. It effects around 300,000 computers worldwide with about 65,000 of those in the U.S. They over exaggerate what they don't understand and the fix to those computers is simple.

Example: http://xkcd.com/932/

(EDIT: It mostly effects businesses as opposed to Home Users as that was the target for the malware.)

EDIT2: Because I work IT and people keep bugging me about this stupid "Internet Doomsday" shit, if this is green when you visit the page, you're fine: http://dns-ok.us/

^ What was sad was this was a no brainer for PC users to remove because back then it was (I still do this very day) run a through scan at least once a week. So many "Tech Heads" cleaned it out if they even had it. But this was when the internet and it uses was still young and people clicked ANYTHING that was bright and said free and most people got infected that way even though it was on the NEWS, Mags and radios not to do so. But stupid people do stupid things.

I concur with all of the above thoughts. If you have a Windows machine and would have simply installed security essentials and kept up with patches you are probably > eleven 9's safe. That last comment is not worth explaining if I need to. Google six nines and you'll get the point.

To sum it up, this confirms the end of the world on 12/21.

While I hear you and I do a little of IT on the side freelancing, I've never been able to put on a poker face so I usually get this.

"You seem disgusted with my request?"

and I answer....

"No. Not your request. Your existence."
