Do you ever buy stuff on craigslist just because?

I troll craigslist almost everyday looking for deals. I end up buying stuff I don't need or really want. I currently am in possession of a working Sega CD with Lunar and Sonic 2 that I don't particularly need/want. I have a 32GB Zune HD Platinum. I remember having an iPod Touch for a while that I eventually just posted myself and sold. I never lose money when I sell it back which is good and what I do end up spending is an exceptional deal when you think about it but I have stuff I don't use haha. I'm always up for trading with people in the area but people never want to do anything remotely even or atleast for what I want.

Any similar stories?

My brother picks up almost anything he can, under the Free category. He's nabbed alot of useful stuff since he's living in his own house, now. One person even had a computer out by the road (it was decent), but it had pictures of their family and all kinds of tax information left on it. -.- Atleast it was him that found it, and not some jackass who'd use it maliciously.

I don't really hound craigslist myself, though. Usually people overprice everything around here. Like, used games from 5+ months ago and people are still trying to get $50 out of them, regardless of what they are. Even some idiots looking for "NES games" "including that one called Stadium Events, I love that game!".

no because i usually only see overpriced stuff. then if i see a deal noone ever wants to do paypal cus they think its a scam

Haha I have and later on I ended up selling it! I have stopped looking at CG because I do want to buy a lot of the deals I find on there. I remember I picked up a Sega Saturn with 15 games and the memory unit for $25.

I do but I've been more wary lately.

Made the mistake of buying 3 pokemon gba games that ended up being fake.
I just didn't do my research like I did in the past cause I was lazy and just wanted the games. I tested them and they worked but at the time I didn't know what to look for in a fake Pokemon game. The whole "non shiny" sticker its supposed to have and the message that's not supposed to be there when you load the game.

Its ok though cause I ended up being able to get the real copies elsewhere.

I just learned my lesson though lol.

I'm still scrolling through the pages everyday though just to see whats there [= hopeful to find something someone didn't know the value of.
my friend's uncle makes bank getting stuff from the free section, then either selling it in other sections of cl or for scrap metal.

i only buy stuff i want or can resell off craigslist.

Thats happened to me before with BluRays. I got a deal on 25 Blurays, all looked legit, but when I got home, they were obviously DVD's relabeled and boxed.. Ive been staying away from CL..

I agree with you on the no deals part, but what kind of person offers Paypal for something on Craigslist?

Craigslist is(as others have called it before)like a flea market environment. Do you go to the flea market to buy stuff from people and ask them if they take Paypal?

When I'm selling something on CL, I want CASH IN HAND. If you try offering me a check, fuck you. If you try offering me a money order, fuck you. Give me money that I can spend immediately or get lost.

So I don't blame the people you responded to for not wanting Paypal.

Lately people around here have quit posting games on craigslist, but last saturday I was off work in the afternoon and due to browsing craigslist I ended up with a second 360 with 7 games(including Borderlands, and Fallout 3) and a N64 with 70% of the first party games for $165....would have paid that for the 360 alone. the funny thign is that the N64 lot may be worth more than the 360 lot!!!
Iamthecheapestgamer, I dont even bother with fleamarkets anymore because they think theyre Ebay too now
That's how some of the stands are at the local flea market here as well. The one video game seller prices games at stupid prices. He had the Burger King Xbox/360 games at $30 EACH for a while if that gives you any idea of how stupid the prices are.

But I did find a set of Night Court Season One on DVD for $3 the last time I was there, so not everyone wants Ebay prices.

I haven't bought anything on there in 2 months. Way to many flakes no matter if you buy or sell. Hours to respond to emails, phone calls unanswered, no alternate contact methods, not showing up to meeting place. I still browse but rarely buy because of prices and I just don't see anything I am interested in. If the person doesn't look like they're serious about or they seem naive or retarded I pass.

Maybe if I was a guy... I would try buying and selling on CL however in my area it seems more common to have a gun pulled on you while doing the transaction. Well in that case it doesn't matter if your a guy or not or if you bring friends or if you meet in a public place because this person did all that and he still got a gun pulled on him and he had to give up his money and everything he had in his pockets. Yeah lovely. So yeah, I am not touching CL for this reason, its just a place for criminals here.

What would you say if I offered you Taco Bell Chicken Burritos for payment? I dare you to resist...

That is why I meet in my Walmart parking lot. Lots of cameras recording. Just hope Wally World doesnt think I am doing drug deals. lol

And this is why I always meet people I'm dealing with from CL at the local mall when they're still open for 2-3 hours and I walk around the mall for 30-45 minutes after doing a deal there.

I've had people offer to 'come over to pick up the item(s)' before and I've had people who were buying stuff from me demanding I go to such and such a spot and meet them OUTSIDE in the parking lot.

Yeah. fuck you. I'm selling the shit, so I'll meet you where I want to.
Some guy got murdered just the other day in washington state. He was selling a ring and 4 people went to his house to buy it and when they went in the house they held the family hostage and killed the guy.

Rule #1 of Craigslist: NEVER give your home address, especially if you're selling an expensive item. You're basically saying "hey, I have something of value, come rob me".

Never. I hate CL. It's almost always a scam and when it's not, it is some jackass that wants to mod my system and then sell me back-ups for $5 a piece. Very rarely you will find a gem on CL but it is possible. I once found a gamecube with Cubivore and Baten Kaitos for $15. Honestly you have better luck getting a deal on ebay.
