C'mon college kids - help an old guy out.

Last week while tailgating for Pearl Jam in Camden we saw some people playing the craziest looking drinking game with a stump, hammer and nails - I did a little research and it is a real game and not something some psychos made up on the spot - it's called "Nails" and it looked insanely dangerous: http://www.thanksdrinking.com/games/nails.html

Anyway, my neighbor threw a keg party a while back and they were playing some sort of drinking game outside. It was almost like horseshoes but not quite. Each team had a square made out of 2x4s with some sort of cup in the middle. I'm not sure what they were throwing but it seemed fairly heavy (definitely not a ping pong ball). The object looked like it was to get the thing into the can or at least into the wooden square. It looked kind of fun. What is it called and what are the rules?

It called cornhole....seriously. It is pretty fun and has similar rules to horseshoes.

Sounds a lot like what my grandparents play at their campground, called Washers. Cornhole seems more likely for a drinking game, because of the name, though.
