Do you think EA sports needs cooler online features?

I know that we are totally spoiled with some of the advanced features found in games like halo 2 but it just seems kinda bland. I like the actual sports ticker but other than that you just go to a text lobbey. Is there newer features in newer games like live 2005, fifa 2005? Just curious what you guys think about it.
 
Wow what a productive thread. Lets turn these questions into Bash EA. Not sure what else they can do with sports games, online rankings, a ticker and roster updates. I think they also have online tournaments. As far as sports games go, that is about it.
 
I almost wish they would eliminate the ranking system, as it leads to everybody playing extremely cheap and makes the games ultimately no fun, since they become more about who can beat the most glitches in the system and use cheesy tactics, etc. You end up not even playing the same game basically, and this is true for practically all the sports games, esp. Madden. People on NFL 2K5 do it all the time too. I thought I would have a lot more fun playing sports online the last 2 years or so, but have only actually played a handful of games b/c it just turns into frustration more than anything. I know I can use the same plays as anyone else, its just not fun to run your QB/ recover squib kicks every time in every game.
 
The OP just wants to know what you think about EA's online features, why are people turning this into a bash EA thread? Don't we have enough of those?

OP, I can't say, since I never played an EA game (or any console game yet) online.

Because they are tools with minor preferences for games that will no longer exist. Their strong opinions are derived from years of hatred which has precluded them from sampling newer EA titles and thus have NO current frame of reference.

OP I have played EA games online, but sadly no other games so I guess I can't exactly help either.

That said asking for feedback on EA games at this site is like asking southern rednecks about the French. They have no practical experience with the French, but will spout their opinion with more gusto than the chaw they spit through their toothless pieholes.

Wow, I've seen some stupid comments on both sides of the field, from EA haters and lovers. But, I'll generalize this with the other online sports game makers and say this: I think there is much room for improvement. Rosters that were updated on a daily basis would be nice(unlikely), and people that take advantage of glitches has to go. But, if they got rid of rankings, people would probably still take advantage of glitches. It helps to play people you know/trust that will play a fair game each and every time.

Video highlights of real games would be cool as well. BTW, to clarify, I agree with the poster's comments that I quoted above.
 
The biggest problem with EA Online is you cannot bring more then 1 person from a system online.

I really enjoy getting 2-4 people on NHL 2k5 and would love that feature on a game like NFL Street.
 
Is EA in the dark ages? Since the days of the Dreamcast, you could bring more then 1 person online in NBA, NFL, WSB.
 
This, I believe, is a poorly phrased question. For something to be considered 'cool,' it would be a good addition. Thus, any product, given the semantics of the adjective 'cool' in our current context, can be made better with the addition of more 'cool' features.

That being said...I've no idea, I've never played a console game online.
