There aren't any reliable third party ones are there? I've never seen any at all.

Seeing as how you can buy a standalone DVD player (sometimes even with progressive scan) for $30 or close to it, it's kind of a silly peripheral.

I take it that the DVD licensing thing will keep this from ever dropping below $29.99 msrp?

Most of the ones on Ebay seem to be 3rd party.

$29.99 does seems like a lot for it. I got mine for free when I bought my Xbox from Best Buy in 2002 (also got Amped for free as well)

I went dumpster diving (thats how cheapass I am...( at Gamestop with a friend (mainly for fun I suppose...) and found one. its untested but looks great cept the battery back is missing from the remote. if you're interested let me know.
