I posted a psone for sale on craigslist and someone replied to it. This guy gave me his fedex account number and says that he will send me the money using bidpay. I've never used bidpay before so I dont know how it works. He says that I dont have to open a bidpay account to recieve the and when i ship the psone and send him the tracking number, he will notify bidpay to send the money to my door. we have be talking via email for awhile and it seemed ok but im not sure. so you think this is this legit? heres the last email he sent me.

Do Not Send Merchandise Without Receiving Money For It First!!!

EDIT:  I typed that in all caps, but apparantly, it changes it to that. I didn't know that. But anyway, do not send him the stuff, until money is in your hand or in an account of yours...you will just get screwed over...

It sounds like a scam. From what I recall when I used Bidpay he can't do what he told you. The way it worked when I used it (as a buyer) was I paid Bidpay the amount + their fee, then they email the seller and send out a money order to the seller. Now at this point sometimes the seller would ship the item after receiving the email from Bidpay and sometimes he'd wait to receive the money order first but NEVER did I have any option of holding payment until I received the item first.

hmmm ok then. Until I recieve money I will be keeping my psone. well if this is a scam anyone interested in a psone with 2 controllers?

also, from past experience on Craigslist when I sold some electronics, you will receive many more of these offers for Western Union and Bidpay payments and to ship it first. I found that by putting 'cash only and local pickup only' in the description, this stopped most of the scammers from trying. I listed a TV on there and 9 out of 10 responses were like the one you got exactly.

Yup you should always recieve payment before shipping out the item. This person definitly seems like a cheat and writes like a little kid.

same thing is happening to me right now, i listed a surround sound set of 800 watt speakers and basically the same email worded a little different, i've dealt with bidpay before on ebay and i dont like the way they run shit

i told the guy to gho to the post office and get a money order from there, and that it'll be cheaper to do that costing a $0.45 fee for money order, still no reply, craiglist seems a little shady to me(1st time ever listing though)

i'm glad you came here before you sent out the psone. just as a rule of thumb, never send out stuff before you get paid unless you absolutely trust the person.

Use his Fed Ex number, ship him an empty box, then when he doesn't pay you and gets the empty box, he's the one who gets screwed.

If you do get the money, say you made a mistake and shipped the wrong box, and then ship the game.

Screw the screwer...that's what I always say.

haha that's a good idea. except if the guy is legit he may ask the OP to pay for shipping the second time around.

i would have worded it "screw the screw driver" but thats just me.

Yes, if he is legit, he may ask the guy, that's the risk you take, but this is almost assuredly a scam, I'd check the FedEx number, too, because it is probably stolen. Anyway i would probably do it and risk having to ship it later.

Scam.

He's dictating the terms to you? AND he wants you to send first?

Huge scam.

I sold something like 125 DVDs in a lot auction on eBay. The guy kept trying to get me to send first, but I constantly reminded him of the terms I posted in my auction -- where if you bid, you agree to pay first and I ship upon payment arriving and clearing.

He finally clammed up and sent via-BidPay. Next day, I got a notice from BidPay saying he transfered the money and that I should expect the payment within a few days. I think I ended up waiting two weeks for the payment, though. BidPay is slow as fuck. So beware of BidPay.

Also, I agree with the others. I think he's trying to pull a fast one.
