Aussie singer Holly Valance - or 'Flick' as she's known to fans of TV's "Neighbours" - and "2 Fast 2 Furious" petrolhead Devon Aoki have secured roles in the film version of computer-game "D.O.A".

The 21-year-old Valance, next seen in "Pledge This!" with Paris Hilton, and Aoki, next in "Sin City", hit the dojo next month to brush up on their Kung-Fu, for the gig.

Directed by Corey Yuen, "DOA" tells of of an all-female kick-boxing squad trying to guard their employer.

Bounty-hunter Christie has been hired to bring in uber-crook Fame Douglas. Upon his return, she'll be paid a desirable fifty million big ones.

Unfortunately, Fame Douglas has hidden himself at the top of a tower, smack-bang in the middle of a remote island. On each floor, Christie encounters a member of the DOA troupe - and they've been paid to make sure she doesn't advance to the next - excuse the game pun - level.

Natasshia Malthe ["Elektra"] is also rumoured to have landed a role in the film.

Based on Tecmo's best-selling video game franchise, the script was written by J.F. Lawton, and is set up at Impact Pictures.

WHAT THE????
Where the hell did they pull this story out of?
It isn't even remotely close to the DOA story (as little as there is)

I hope Tecmo looks at the script and says WTF and tells the guy to re-write it. Christie is not a main chracter. None of the chracters work together. Almost all the girls pretty much hate eachother. What about the HUGE story around Kasumi, Ayane and Hayate.

ARG!!! I can't beleave this. Man Hollywood should NOT be alowed to make movies based on video games. cause all they can do is F*** them up.

It's already flopped. Seriously. I can almost see it on DVD already. I hope they cancel it.. it sounds completely godawful. Fighting games do not make good movies.. Mortal Kombat.. Street Fighter.. what makes them think DOA will be different? This is why there's games and movies, not game movies. One can't successfully merge into the other.. except Riddick, that was a good game..

Ewww, Kasumi isn't played as a Japanese actress (as in Native from JAPAN and I doubt Kasumi would be portrayed as the shy but violent girl who has feelings for Hayabusa) but I guess 'Hollywood' film directors wouldn't try to piss off the Film Actors Guild (pun I know) by hiring Japanese models and actresses. I want a freaken Ninja Gaiden (CG please CG) movie dammit and not this boxing tower stuff.

Just when Sin City is about to raise the bar too for slam bang action films.

The funniest and greatest thing about this thread is you were able to mark it with a frowning face so we all know how to feel. Love that feature in the new forums.

That sounds entirely too bad to be real. Source?

*Edit*--

Gamespot.com:

"The script for the $30 million movie is currently being written by J.F. Lawton, whose credits include Pretty Woman and Under Siege. Plot details are obviously scarce at present, but since the movie license includes Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball as well as the traditional fighting games in the series, the movie will unsurprisingly involve a fighting tournament on an exotic island with ample volleyball facilities."

Eh, assuming they didn't just make that up off assumptions, yeah, this is sounding even worse. Why games like this get movies is beyond me. Maybe if Hollywood actually gave half a shiat about gaming as an art form or medium of storytelling, they'd be adapting games with a solid story rather than simply whoring out whatever happens to be popular at the time. I'd cream my pants for a "Chrono Trigger" movie, but "Dead or Alive" makes me want to cry.

Then again, if they butchered Chrono Trigger, I'd cry too. Boy would I be covered with body fluids.

So, do they plan to add motorized "jiggling assistance" devices to make the movie more true to the source material? :)

Its the movie industry taking their revenge on the game industry for making horrible games based off of good movie licenses. And to be fair, the game industry started it first.

I still can't get over how bad this whole thing sounds.

If you've seen the opening for DOA:U you know Team Ninja is working on createing a good story for the DOA series. It might not be a great story yet and it still needs to be developed more but Team Ninja is trying to add a good story to DOA and all this movie is going to do is spit in the face of their work. What they are doing is far worst then the Mario Bros movie.

For anyone who hasn't seen the opening here is a low quility version I did to show some friends.
http://www.medaverse.com/Cap/DOAU.mov - (30MB)

The story layed out for the DOA movie has 0 incomen with the DOA game. Just like the Mario movie they are just takeing the names and some of the likness and creating their own thing.

-There is no Dead or Alive tournament in the movie.
-The Girls where Never on a team let alone all part of a all-female kick-boxing squad.
-They were Never protecting a uber-crook.
-It was never Christie vs Everyone.
-Christie is an Assassin not a Bounty-hunter
-None of the Girls had kick-boxing as a fighting style, Infact the only one who had that style was Zack.

There is no way this is even going to remotely resemble the game.

God this movie is going to suck about as bad as House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark.

they already have Dead or Alive movie made in japan and it blows. it's all about gangsters and nothing about DOA.

*pouts*
I'd hope this is just some kind of twisted joke/april fools day leak, that sounds god-awful. and a blatent rip-off of that one movie...unfortunately i can't think right now, but the lead martial artist is fighting different opponents on each level of the dojo. except they decided to further defame it by also making it charlie's angels...

nekkid skins and jiggling i can understand, this i can not tolorate. :(

Actually there are 3 movies in the series, all directed by Takashi Miike, and they are quite good for what they are. Certainly better than what is to be expected of the DOA license.

really? you liked it? i couldn't stand that movie. i stopped it after a little while and put in this movie with jackie chan's son and it was something about having to overthrow the women that control the world. i forgot what it was called.

I said they're good for what they are, which is low budget yakuza flicks. They aren't great but I've seen much worse.
