Im opening up my comic book store at 7, and i will be there at 6 to make sure everything is set (and so i can laugh at the Khols line next door)

I don't, but I know how you feel. I work at a grocery store, and during inventory we have to be there at 4am. Nothing good can come from getting up that early.

Back to the wonderful dump that Target is, 3:30pm till midnight or there abouts. At least they are providing food, although I'm sure it'll be the usual stuff that I can't be bothered with. And I agree, retailers make all their money off of us selling shit to people yet they can't seem to "afford" to pay us more than $8-something an hour. Such a load.

noon at target for me until lord knows when. if i'm lucky, i'll be out of there by 1 am. damn shoppers... do your damn christmas shopping on separate days!

If you don't mind me asking, why are you opening early? As cool as your store sounds, I've got a feeling that you won't have to deal with that mad rush of shoppers...

I did last year at CompUSA. Sucked ass. It wasn't really that busy compared to the Best Buy across the plaza but it was horrible since 70% of the people were new hire. Absolute mess. Customer Service was pissed since so many people had to be redirected there. Glad I found a better job since then.

i was wondering this too. i mean, it's real good to try and be available for business, but to open up a comic shop THAT early is almost pure futility. i worked at a pretty busy comic shop for 2 years, and we never opened up before 10. sometimes noon. most of our clientele was either a.) teenage high school boys, b.) college gamer nerds, c.) soccer moms and their card-hungry children, or d.) that not-so-nerdy middle-aged working man who just can't let go of his comic book obsession. so they were either a.) in school, b.) sleeping in, c.) doing the daily morning errands, d.) at work. and sadly, barely anyone buys comics for christmas gifts. for the cheapass gift givers, here's a real good idea: subscribe to 1 comic for a whole year... take all 12 issues at the end of the year and put them into a box... and voila, a very nice and thoughtful and inexpensive gift.

We carry all the toys and "neat stuff" related to comics as well as gaming (um, the dorkier gaming), faeries, dragons, posters, shirts and Japanese manga/anime related merch. A broad range, oh, and a VERY good selection of TPB's.

We were scheduled to open at 9 last year, but i was in there early and noticed that people were looking in after coming out of Khols. I opened up 2 hours early and made quite a bit of money.

This year they are opening up the other stores at 8, but being near a Toys R Us and in the corner with Khols i figure well get some extra clientell....we also have been advertising a %30 off of any full priced (non-new comic/gift card) sale....just like a real store :)

I remember working at KBToys at 9am-2pm on black friday last year. Actually it was pretty cool, my best friend worked at the cash register next to me and we just had fun all day. I didn't even work there, but since my best friend did and I knew all the managers I worked a few hours and came home with 100$. Fun stuff.

I wasn't supposed to work at all, but someone at my store is being let go and I have to cover his 5 PM - 10 PM shift. At least I can catch the morning deals.

^_^

I hate Black Friday with a passion. My shift starts at 4:30 AM. Being a girl that I am, I take an hour to get ready. Why bother sleeping when I get up at 3:30 AM anyway.

4:30?! Ouch... Yeah, you might as well not go to sleep. That's, what, 4-5 hours of sleep?

sorry to hear everybody..i plan on going shopping tomorrow but i will try not to bother any of you over worked people!

good luck everybody :)

Sears: 12:30 pm - 1030 pm.

Shouldnt be real bad, but since I am on a base + commission payrate, I'm probably missing out on some money but coming in later but oh well..

CC 4am-11pm. No, that is not a typo. Our great store director (in his own mind) thinks we should be there that early to set things up. I told them that I would not work any later than 6pm. Guess what? I'm off at 6pm. If people would just stand up for themselves sometimes they wouldn't get walked over. Holy crap, I have to be there in 3 1/2 hours!!! So much for sleep.
meh, I only work from 1:00 to 7:00, and I work at Blockbuster, so we don't really have any Black Friday deals going on...
I work at Blockbuster too. I'm off tomorrow (thankfully), but I wouldn't really mind working that day. I'm sure it will be slower than most firday's since everyone is xmas shopping. The only "deals" we have are the 3 for $25 sale, which is decent but that is going on until the end of the year most likely.

I did have to work today though :( . And there is a possiblity of working xmas day and new years.

My store isn't providing any food they do have a sheet though saying employees can volunteer to bring food but noonever ever does. I work at Kohls so you can imagine it being worse there than at lets say ebgames.

didn't see this post before, but i had to work at gamestop from 3 until 10 for $5.75 an hour. we didn't have it too bad when i got there because almost all the console we had sold out in the morning. all we had left were gamecubes.
