Does anyone know how long it takes for Best Buy to process an order for in-store pick up?

CAGiversary!
Depending on how lazy the employee's are. So the employee's couldn't find it, yet they allowed you to do an "in store" pick up for the same location that they couldn't find it in?/

I purchased a television from Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sharp-42-class-42-diag--led-1080p-hdtv-black/5420123.p?id=1219128175218&skuId=5420123) and they didn't have it in-store so they did an "In-Store Pickup" order for me. I just received an e-mail nearly an hour ago that they received my order and are processing it for me to pick up. It's 7:23pm right now and they close at 9, is there any chance I'll be able to get it tonight, or would tomorrow be more probable?

If it's from the warehouse and it hasn't been shipped to the store and it's already less than 30 mins to close...it ain't happening tonight.

I got the e-mail saying the store just received it, but not to come as they don't have it ready to pick up yet. That was a little over an hour ago (about 6:30)

Should be a good chance of it being ready, if it's not already, although that's cutting it pretty close. The one time I used in-store pickup, which was about a month ago, it took maybe 20 minutes from the time I received that e-mail until the time I received the ready e-mail.

After the e-mail you received, I think all they need to do is physically bring it in from the back to the desk area.

Went up there about 2:30, 20 hours after receiving the e-mail. They're fully stocked on the shelves but the receptionist claims that mine is still pending and should be available tomorrow, then refused to just give me one from on the shelf.

The only thing that happens when you get the email about the item being ready for pickup is as follows:

1) An operations rep prints out the order and looks for the item on the shelf.

2) The rep takes the item up to the CS desk and puts in the appropriate place for in-store pickup.

3) They mark the order as "picked" in their system, which shows the order is ready for pickup and notes it on BB.com, which sends out the email.

I would go back to the store with your order number, go speak with the MOD (manager on duty) and have them explain why your item hasn't been marked as ready for pickup when they obviously have it in-stock. There's no reason why it shouldn't be picked by now if it's obviously in stock, so someone just forgot about it. They should mark the item as picked and process the order to be completed.

If the operations manager is there in-store ask to speak with them and have them explain why the order isn't done. It's their people that do the order processing, so it looks bad for them.

That receptionist is an idiot, pure and simple.

I've already ran all my errands for today, so I now don't mind so much waiting until after a Dr. appt tomorrow morning to pick it up, though I've now learned my lesson in that I will no longer to in-store pick up there anymore, only either personally buy it in stock at the store or have it delivered directly to me.

And yeah I keep hearing the TV is excellent for gaming with a good gaming pre-set and a 4ms response time. When I saw the near half price reduction, I jumped on it lol

I would still give them the business when you go in there to pick it up finally, since they did really drop the ball on it. Especially the receptionist who was giving out completely bogus information.

I have gone in the store multiple times when there's been an issue about the item being picked and grabbed it off of the shelf to close out an in-store pickup order.

I went and picked it up fairly painlessly. Only issue was a guy in front of me had a ton on in-store pick up so the one guy working the warehouse section was rushing so it took about 15 mins before he could get my TV. Other than that, no real issues.

Still staying away from in-store pick up at that store from now on but that has been my only problematic experience with Best Buy in the 10 years or so I've shopped there so I won't hold it against them overall.

Loving the TV though. Definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a new one.

Because of your posts I ended up buying this tv. I needed a replacement for my 7 year old Vizio in my computer room. I did instore pick up also and I already had the email that it was ready to be picked up 15 minutes after I ordered it. Playing some Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on it right now.

It goes like this

  • Order online
  • After a short time it goes through the system it gets sent to a program that Alerts the warehouse employee to get the item and print a tag and tag it.
  • After the item is "picked" and tagged is when you are sent the email that your order is ready for pick-up. Thus telling you the first email to wait for that email to tell you it is ready.
So yes, depends on how long it takes to find the item or how often that employee is paying attention to the OMS alert.
