Does MGS: The Essential Collection work on new 80g systems?

I've never played any of the old games, and I'm getting MGS4 for Christmas. If the collection works, I'd love to do a little catching up.

PS - Before I get torn apart, I know that there is another thread related to compatibility and I checked it. Cheapass24 asked this question and never got an answer. Hopefully no one hates me too much for posting this. lol
 
from what ive heard the newer 80gb ps3s dont have ps2 bc so i think no you wont be able to play it unless you have one of the other 80gb ones ( like the mgs bundle) thats the one i have and it plays ps2 games. check the box it should tell you whats in it or not or look online.
