Does your DS AC adapter make noise?

I just plugged my DS in to charge, and the plug (the square part with the metal tongs that goes into the wall outlet) is making a high-pitched noise now. It only happens when the adapter is plugged into the wall, and also into the DS. I've tried this multiple times with multiple outlets, and it still makes the noise.

...after 5 minutes, it seems to have quietted down. Anyone else ever experience this?

my AC adapter for my laptop did that and got really hot. I had to get it replaced. I'd do the same with yours. $10, or I'm sure Nintendo will switch it out for you.

That's scary. I dont know if that's safe or not. Maybe your household wiring is different

If it quiets down after 5minutes I guess it's okay. Not sure.

Thanks guys. I was hoping that this might be a common problem, but it doesn't seem to be. I'm thinking that it might be a loose wire, which roughly translates into the potential for a house fire. Either way, i'll spend the $10 just for the piece of mind alone.

I know you said you tried multiple outlets, but did you try plugging it into a surge protector or a power conditioner of any sort? If it still hums and whistles, it's definitely your AC adaptor. Nintendo will probably get you a new one for free.

You can use your GBA charger (assuming you have one) while the new DS charger is shipping.

Now that you mention it I believe mine makes a humming noise too. I had my psp and DS plugged in and notice a noise. I didn't think much of it though.

Electricity makes a hum. If its really loud you might have issues though. However, why did you feel the need to point out it makes noises when plugged in? Like it would opperate without power? :whistle2:s

If it's like my AC adapter for my laptop was, even plugged into the wall it wouldn't make noises but if it was connected tot he wall AND the laptop, then it started howling.

That wouldn't be surprising. The power adapter doesn't realy draw that much power. Once you connect the laptop it starts sucking juice.
