A couple of years ago, I went on vacation to visit some family in Hong Kong. We all decided to eat at a local restaurant. We ordered what we thought was "Beef Chow Fun" but it didnt quite taste like beef. How often do you see a cow in Hong Kong?

The way you say "dog" and "beef/cow" in chinese are very similar, so similar it's just how you say it, it might mean different things. Sometimes it is hard to translate since most people in Hong Kong now speak Mandarin (4 tones) and my family speaks off-shore Cantonese (6-9 tones).

So, Dog tastes like beef.

What strange things have you eaten?

I went to a french restaurant where we ate escargo(snails) and cow brains instead of bread. At least that is what i think we ate.

Do you know what kind of dog you had? Different breeds can vary quite a bit in taste. Small breeds, like a Yorkshire terrier, tend to be tough and somewhat of a bland flavor. Larger dogs, such as a St. Bernard, have a richer taste to them.

You Will Eat Cat Poop!

alligator / crocodile w/e they're called. Down in the Florida they actually had a restaurant centered around it. It tasted like high grade popcorn chicken.
I see we have a lot of Strange Foods with Andrew Zimmerman fans on here :p
I wanna try guinea pig.

Eaten that too. Tastes like chicken, but has the texture of fish.

I've had ostrich and bison as well, nothing special.

A live shrimp, bit off the body- left the head/tail in my hands. Wiggled in my mouth, down to my stomach. Koreatown, LA

Crickets/ground bugs in Mexico.
Alligator- chewy chicken. Shelly's on Foothill/Haven in Rancho Cucamonga
chicken foot soup- Dim Sum restaurant. Focus Center, Monterrey Park
sesos in tacos (that brains for the uninitiated),

I eat cooked pig blood on a regular basis. I'm not sure if this is weird, but I eat Ox tail pretty often too.

Where do you live that they sell this stuff? The only way to get that here is to go buy it out of a dude's garage. And it sells out quick.

OP, look up Czimer's Meats on Google and you'll see what I've eaten.

Liverwurst. Sometimes I like it, other times I can tolerate it. Cooked liver/ Tongue I will avoid. I remembered we use to eat that when we were little but not anymore. Can't stand the smell of it.
I had a Baja Gordita once.
well then chances are you ate something unique that was grinded up and seasoned so you wouldn't know what it was that you ate. I mean all you have to do is grind anything, add food coloring and some seasoning/spices and you have no idea what you just ate, but it tasted damn good.

I have eaten various bugs, cooked in various different ways.

I have had Alligator, although I wouldn't consider that an odd food.

I think that is it for me.

Heh. Ama is making tamales as I type this.

I had snails in shanghi once. Nearly choked on something that looked like a contact lense at the base.

Also had fried snake in Wuhan. That was actually pretty tasty.

Salad?

My mom went with a friend to Chili's in Tampa, Florida. Both of them ordered hamburgers. My mom's friend ate half of her burger and lifted the bun to find a half-eaten cockroach.

Whale -- spongy doesn't taste like anything.

Scorpion -- tastes like shrimp.
yup

What's your ethnicity?
My guess is Filipino. It's really not as bad as the ingredients would lead you to believe.

I've had pig brains myself. Pretty damn good. And beef tongue, which really isn't all that weird, but I shit you not, it's the best tasting part of a cow.

And if you've seen the Manila, Philippines episode of Bizzare Foods, I tasted the deep fried baby chicks. He's absolutely right in that the beak and head are the best part.

I've also had Adidas. I'll let a few guesses come before I explain that one.

I also eat cooked pig blood. Also, for Ox tail thats what I eat in my pho :drool:. All about that ox tail :).

I had lion once when I was in school for culinary arts. It was good. Tasted like beef. Worst thing I ever ate was kidneys. Tasted like what I would imagine piss tastes like. I am not even sure what type of animal the kidneys were from. Yucko
Saurkraut and ham pizza. The best pizza ever, no lie.
Interesting. I imagine it had a strong salty/vinegary flavor.

Was the cheese/sauce pretty normal? Like mozzarella and marinara? Or was that different?

This seems like something I could make.

Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where they were showing what bologna was made from. There was an old boot, a raccoon, and some other stuff I can't remember, all dropped in a grinder.

It was hot dogs, not bologna.

An owl was also included.

Don't remember what else. I want to say there were four or five items.

I went on a ferry ride in New Orleans about 8-9 years ago, and they had a snake-alligator combo mixed with some rice and hot sauce. As said, the alligator tastes like chicken. The snake was much less tough and was a bit juicier.

I've had cicada in some kind of medicine-soup thing.
Crocodile/alligator sausages - tasted like sausages
Shark fillets - like regular fish but tougher
Fried pig colon - tasted like ass

Yeah, the cheese and sauce are standard like a normal pizza. The place that's famous for it is a small chain called Happy Joe's. It's their special pizza and one of my top five pizza combinations of all time.

Yeah, after I posted I thought it might have been hot dogs. I got confused with another episode where Homer buys Apu's version of the 7-11 Big Bite and says "You can hardly taste the hog anus!"

Chinese delicacy, my friend. I can't stand it but my grandma loves it.

does a steak with raspberry preserves, mustard, pickles , hot sauce, and onion count as weird?

Also i remember watching a PETA vid where it showed all those animals being kept in small places and being slaughter and other things at Ozzfest, and it gave me a strange craving for a hamburger so i got one and enjoyed it .
