Yeah, he wasn't a pioneer or anything, but damn he could play in the pocket like nobody's business.
 
I actually bought an old Blues Brothers vinyl (Briefcase Full of Blues) a few months back at a flea market, thing is practically flawless, even the cover is in good shape.

But yeah, he wasn't famous per se, but he's played on some really well known pieces of music, most people have heard him play and just didn't know who it was.
