Donkey Konga 1 + 2 Combo Pack $70 at Play-Asia.com [Price Raised]

On July 1st Nintendo of Japan is releasing Donkey Konga 2: Hit Song Parade. They are also releasing a combo pack that includes both Donkey Konga games, though the news of this release never really got spread around.

I suggest that if you want it you buy it at Play-Asia as soon as possible. Because the actual details of the product are shrouded. The first reports say the game does indeed come with a conga controller. Play-Asia currently has the game listed at a weight of 0.4 kilograms (where as Konga 1 with a controller weighs 1.3 kilos). So it seems that they have the weight listed a tad low, which means lower shipping costs for YOU! Of course, you will be running the risk that the combo pack doesn't actually come with a conga drum (though it should). I sent an email to Play-Asia asking if they knew weather or not the combo included a conga, and they replied saying they did not know.

The good news is that even without a conga $70 is a low price for this product that runs for 7,890 Yen in Japan (which is $73 in US currency). So even imported the game is cheaper than it is in Japan.

I'm thinking the reason for this is actually that retailers are inflating the price of the product to 7890 Yen. The original reports said it was going to ost 7000 Yen.

Another word of advice, Donkey Konga does NOT work with the Freeloader, so you will need a modded US Cube to play it.
Do you know if the game is import-friendly? Meaning not a lot of text, etc...
I got a chance to play a friend's import copy of the first. The menus are in japanese but they are easy enough to navigate if you spend a bit of time figuring it out.

Though if it doesn't come with a conga drum the game won't be very much fun. It's playable with a controller but the fun is not there at all without the drum. However, the US version of the game (which has a completly different song list) comes out in September. So you can just buy a drum ($30 according to Nintendo) when they become avaliable along side the release of the game. Or you could buy the US version of the game that will also come with a conga.

I'll be happy either way because even without a conga drum this combo pack will expand my Donkey Konga song list.

From what I understand the US version will have just as many songs if not more than the 2 Japanese discs combined. This is what I read about the game from E3 coverage, if it's true, you can get off cheaper by waiting it out.

According to the Nintendo booth tour I took at E3 the US version will have just about as many songs as both Japanese discs combined. But waiting is ok if you only want the songs on the US version. The Japanese has a totally different song list (except for maybe 5 songs they share in common). So with all three discs you get a ton of songs.

Also, where'd you read that? Just curious because I'm positive we posted it on www.planetgamecube.com.

If you use a Freeloader to play import games, keep in mind that you can't save games for Donkey Konga. (My Konga set is collecting dust because of this.)

Play-Asia has updated their website. The game does in fact include the conga drum. Because of this they have increased the price to $80. They have also increased the weight so keep in mind that shipping will be more expensive too.

Haha. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I read that on PGC. Nice, I like the site. I think if you're really into the game you could spend the extra cash on it, but I'd wait it out just to beat out to the english stuff.
LikSang tested DK2 and you can save with a freeloader on 1.06b and B
Seriously?? Now I have to get it :( I wish there was some fix for the first one.
