Donkey Konga pre-order $31.99 FYE.com

What is with all these companies?! First Media Play now FYE? First they said it was the game only, then it said game with bongos now they are cancelling it?

Is it really that complicated for companies to understand that the game comes packaged with the drums and the drum is sold seperatly as well? I guess this is another reason why we don't see many music games in the US, stores can't figure out how to handle their distribution
 
I made a mistake earlier when I asserted that FYE = MEDIAPLAY = WHEREHOUSE = STRAWBERRIES == TRANSWORLD ENTERTAINMENT.
MediaPlay is part of the Musicland Group along with Sam Goody.
But, if you read the Mediaplay Saga thread here, you would have seen a post from Matt McClure that read in part
Actually, you couldn't be further from the truth. I DO NOT work for Sam Goody. I work for the largest distributor of movies, games & music in the US. Companies like Sam Goody, (AOL, Amazon, Sony, Blockbuster, etc), contract our company to take care of all online orders and the customer service for the online store, as well. What happened was a simple case of mis-communication on the manufacturer's part. We were originally told that this item was coming with the game + BONGOS. I even called Nintendo directly, last night and was told by an employee that the game was not even being sold without the drums. What we did not take into account is that it could be just the bongos, alone...without the game..(which it turns out, is exactly what it was). When I arrived at work at noon today, my managers and I did some digging to resolve this issue, and that's when we found that it's actually the bongos only.

My guess is that this company supplied the listing to FYE as well and FYE just wasn't as active pursuing the issue. Anyone who actually expected to get the game from FYE and not just the bongos was dreaming.
 
Does anyone know of a place that is truly offering this game for less than $50???

Nice job ressurecting a very old, painful thread. (I was very sad I couldn't get it for $32. :cry: ) Anyways, your question should go in REQUEST a cheap ass gaming deal, not to ressurect an old thread. And... um... congrats on 69 posts... :roll:
 
I haven't received a cancellation letter yet and when I go to my account on fye.com the order is still there. Of course, if I try to click on the donkey konga w/ bongos link it's not valid. I hope they do send me the wrong thing....there's a FYE a few blocks from my job.....I will go in there with my printed order confirmation that shows the donkey konga with bongos and make a stink for them to swap it for the correct item. Worst case they say no and I get my money back. What will probably happen though is that they'll cancell the order sometime next week when they try to fill it.
 
All Im gonna say is that this happened before. Your orders will likely be cancelled or not the whole game (just bongoes)

Agreed, but it is possible the store would correct it for me....unlikely...but possible....if I even got sent anything....

The same thing happened with an XBL kit from KBToys last year and they wouldn't honor it, just gave me my money back....but I wasn't so upset or anything.
 
Not surprising, no cancellation email but now the order is gone from my account as if it never existed. I have a printout from 9/21 showing it. I am a pretty big cheapass so I'm going to send an email and maybe a call to see if I can wheasel myself a copy or anything :) If not, well you can't win them all.
 
I just got an e-mail saying it's on backorder. The e-mail says if the backorder isn't filled within 30 days, the item gets cancelled. I bet that they won't fill the order so it will get cancelled. Since how can the game be backordered when they cancelled so many orders for it and the fact that the game has been off the site for weeks

I exchanged a few emails with them regarding this as mine was on backorder too as per a rep (deleted from their system though) and first I was told it was backordered because I didn't choose expedited shipping so I wasn't guaranteed the game. Then after a few more emails back and forth someone finally noticed the error and told me he has to cancel the order because it's for the wrong thing. I've sent off one more email salvo attacking the company and their customer service in the hopes of them honoring it, I don't expect it at all but just givin it a shot, im almost done tho...
 
That is ridiculous. So they went in the order of who paid for the most expensive shipping?! I have class in 20 minutes but as soon as I get back, I'm going to e-mail them and find out what's going on since if they aren't going to honor it, I want to get it somewhere else instead of hoping it the game will come when it probably won't ever be shipped.

You're definately not going to get it without complaining, and probably not even with. I think the game actually is "backordered for real on FYE, I doubt anyone actually got a copy even at 49.99 because after their sku screwup I don't think they even got any of the game into the warehouse. Even if they do get it in they are either going to send you the wrong item (bongo's only) or cancel your order. If they send you the wrong item you can try to get them to correct it in-store or get your money back....odds are they will catch it before they send it out though. I'll let you know if they reply to my scathing email.
 
Ok, I guess I'll just go to a store tomorrow and buy the game then. I'll keep this order open just for another set of bongos (since it's only a few dollars more than bongos seperate).
 
Also got the backordered email today... my guess is that it's just a way to get around having to sell us game at the price they advertised. If they just cancelled the order or sent Bongos only, people could raise a fuss with BBB and they might have to provide compensation.

A nice lawylerly job of CYA for FYE. Takes away any guilt felt about the mongo amount I soaked them for in trade-in credit (not that there was much to begin with.) :)
