Donkey Konga vs Donkey Konga 2 which is better??
The First one, the 2nd one has a bunch of shitty songs like "Row your Boat"
1 also had some videogame themes, I was disappointed when 2 had none. Some of those shitty some are kinda fun to play though.

Both are definately worth picking up though.

Donkey Konga blows Donkey Konga 2 out of the water by a mile. Donkey Konga 2 is basically a clone of DK, but with pop and top 40 songs thrown into the mix.

If you can import it, snag Donkey Konga 3 as it is much better than the other two. It has regular songs, new minigames and classic Famicom songs. It's great.

the only downside to importing donkey konga is being unable to save unless you have a japanese or modded gamecube. i have the first one and stopped playing it because of this.

It's $15 with GGC at Best Buy. But yeah, I have a friend who bought a Gamecube because he liked Donkey Konga so much. I gave him Donkey Konga 2 and he said it was trash. :(

What do you mean? I haven't played the Donkey Konga imports, but every other import I have works fine (via Freeloader on a US cube) and I can save my games just fine.

You just can't save your import games on the same memory card as US games. If you use a spare card for JUST imports, it works fine...
Will Donkey Konga 3 ever see a North American release?
Nothing's been announced. I'm still holding out for Nintendo announcing something to bridge the gap between Odama and Twilight Princess.

Oh, c'mon guys! Why all the Donkey Konga 2 bashing? A lot of the complaints seem to stem from the tracklist, but whatever. Would I have enjoyed a different set of songs? Sure, but that goes for the first version as well. You just have to meet the game on its own terms when it comes to music and drum along to chick songs and lame ass heavy songs and Good Charlotte.

Once you get past that, the overall experience of DK2 is much richer than the original. The range and diversity of modes really enhances the replayability, and the addition of the banana fairy is pretty supreme.

If you're looking at getting into these games, buy both. They're a ton of fun and provide a fairly unique and satisfying experience.

I preferred the first one to the second one. The songs fit the gameplay of the first one better, even songs I had never heard before or songs that aren't my style played better than a lot of the songs in the second one, even though there were a lot of songs in the second one that I like. And having the new, more popular songs redone by other people just didn't sound right, it wasn't as noticable on the first game. DK2 is still a fun game, though, and the minigames are pretty fun. But you can't beat playing a little Rock Lobster on DK1, it just doesn't get any better.

I played this on demo at Toys R Us....Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama?" WTF??? In Donkey Konga? The singing and selection could have been better...so I assume that I'll say Donkey Konga 1 is the winner here...

Does anyone know if jap version of donkey konga jungle beat saves correctly with US gamecube + freeloader?

THANKS!!!
number 1 had a much better song selection
I agree, the second one just wasn't as good with the songs they used...

I only have Donkey konga 2... Personally I think the songs are horrible... a lot of them don't even fit the bongo beats IMO.......

As to earlier question - anyone nows jap ver DK jungle beat will save correctly with US cube + freeloader?
