Let me just say that when I got my PS3 having PS2 BC was big for like the first few months. After that, I stopped caring about PS2 BC and NEVER use it. Plus, I rather have WiFi (so I can use PSP ad-hoc online and just in case I want to put my PS3 in the basement at times, I can connect online). Plus my PS3 is a launch model and I could use a new one. I just feel PS2 BC is greatly overrated now, since there are too many great PS3 games coming (and looking at PS2 games on my HDTV, yuck IMO).

[/QUOTE]Why would it be getting on your last nerve? There are plenty of awesome PS3 games out there and if your problem relates to headset, switch to the official one OR get a USB headset. If you are not happy over having to download another firmware, just download it from the official site and copy it over to the PS3. I mean, I understand people have reasons (like really wanting Gears 2, their friends only have 360 and none have a PS3, really low on cash or financial problems (especially with the economy), and so on). If you are having some issue with the console (like can't get something to work, have issues connecting online, or whatever), just post in the stickied FAQ thread and we'll be more than happy to help you with your trouble.

Although I like my 360 also, I just have too many awesome stuff on PS3 to really care right now (especially with R2, LBP, VC, and so on).
