Doom 3 Delayed Again

Son of a bitch. They are doing this to have a good fiscal year for 2006? Why not end 2005 right by selling it at the end of it? I might move my pre-order to something else. I hate waiting.

you guys could change your preorders to the collector's edition of splinter cell: chaos theory. that games gonna be da boooooooomb!

Don't you love business? I'd be willing to bet that they are pushing this back just because they don't feel like they need the (under their assumption) extra boost from this game on this years fiscal report. If they push it off till the 2006 fiscal year they can make it look like they are going to be strong right out of the gate.
Wait, it's not coming out till 2006, is that what it's saying?
No. Fiscal 2006, which is the sales for the business year or something, I don't really know and i'm talking out of my ass. It means April 2005 is the earliest it could come out.

Read the article....the fiscal year of 2006 begins in April for Activision. Still it is bullshit they are delaying a completed game.
aw man, that sucks! i was eagerly awaiting doom 3 co-op! :(
So is this game live co-op? I will be really happy if it is.

Yeah it has 2 player online co-op.
Thanks for the Post! It said The Movies is coming up soon too(wow...that sounds like really bad english)
knowing who is making that, are you really banking on it coming out soon?

My fully paid preorder = cancelled.

I've been really excited about this game since it got a 10/10 from XBN, but I'm going to switch my preorder over to Splinter Cell now. If I see a good deal on this, I'll buy it (or I might preorder it again because of GameRush deals), but it looks like I might wait on this game. :(

The game has been ready before the holidays came, yet they are still waiting.

waffles-
you can get the regular edition of doom 3 w/ free shipping at outpost.com for $39.99. i can't imagine that there will be a better deal than this anytime soon. here's the link:

Doom 3 @ outpost.com for $39.99

plus you won't have to actually pay for it until it ships. on the down side, though, outpost.com takes their sweet time getting it to you, so you might not get it until a week after the release date (whenever that is).

From the looks of it, they ended 2005 VERY right.

Activision's 2005 third fiscal quarter saw the company posting record profits, according to financials released today. Thanks to high-selling titles like DOOM 3, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, and Tony Hawk's Underground 2, Activision saw net revenues soar 34% to $680.1 million for the quarter ending December 31, 2004, compared to $508.5 million in last year's Q3. Net income rose to $97.3 million, a 26% increase over last year.

For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Activision reports $1.2 billion in net revenues, an impressive 53% increase over $784.8 million reported for the same period last year.

I started thinking earlier.. either they had a really, really strong year.. or they're going to have a pisspoor next year, and they're saving this, since there will be no CoD, no THUG3 (at least that's been announced yet), no Spider-Man, and no other huge titles..
Man, I'm cancelling my pre-order, and getting a new DS game.
lol, good call.. i hate delays...

It's when the game comes out that's important to me. Thanks for finding the deal, though. :)

In a conference call with investors today, Activision President Ron Doornink revealed the company plans two new Call of Duty titles: "In Fiscal 06, we will launch two new Call of Duty products: one for the PC, and one for the consoles." This presumably refers to Call of Duty 2 for PC, and an otherwise-unannounced console follow-up to Call of Duty: Finest Hour.

Looks like there will be plenty of CoD to go around.

lol you should have at least 1 or 2 games to pick from. The fantastic library of....oh wait....1 or 2 games...... #-o

j/p with you :p

On the brightside now I won't have to divide my time between 4 games. Phantom Dust, Splinter Cell and Halo2 will have my time pretty well monopolized till well into the summer when they'll hopefully decide to release this.
I can't wait to play through co-op with several of my tweak friends who will squeal at the sight of the first Cacodemon.

There will be a new Spider-Man based on the Ultimate Spider-man comics

This sucks, but I guess I'll keep my Pre-Order since I can wait anyways. I already have 4 games on order at GameRush

I may just have to pre-order one more FPS to hold me over.

I know. I was talking about fiscal years not actually years. :D

They are probably wanting to give the "Halo effect" more time to wear off...the problem is that if Bungie decides to release new maps/weapons/vehicles it may add more fire to Halo's success, which might persuade another Doom 3 release. Personally, I'm not interested in this game.

Bungie said in their last weekly update that they wouldn't release new weapons or vehicles over Live, only maps and possibly custom gametypes. I agree that waiting will help Doom multiplayer, but with other Live games coming soon like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Rainbow Six: Lockdown, I'm not so sure about it.

Ehh...the other games are alright right now but I was really looking forward to DOOM III. I don't understand why they are delaying it nad if its solely for the "halo effect" as you all suggest then that gets me a little perturbed. Games done, release it. We have been waiting for it.

Resurrection of Evil and Doom3 for XBox will both be out the week of April 4th.
Thanks...I can wait

This was annoying but nothing I'm gonna kill myself over. I'm going overseas vacation from the 12-27th so I'll only have to wait a few more days. Granted I wanted a game for March, and I'll probably look into getting Wrestlemania as long as it gets good reviews. Yah heard?
