Hi all! DotEmu is doing a special birthday celebration for their service by giving out five free games, one per day. Yesterday's Gobliiins giveaway has already come and gone, but there's still time to obtain the rest! :) I've purchased a few games from them already, and they're legit. I like GOG's service more overall, but there are several games in DotEmu's service that aren't available anywhere else.

Below is their press release with info on the promo, and at the bottom I've linked to games they offer for free normally. Have fun!

Standard free games:

 • Beneath A Steel Sky
 • Drascula
 • Flight of the Amazon Queen (This is a surprisingly well-done click adventure game in the style of the old LucasArts games. Not quite on their level, but it is still well, well worth downloading!)
 • Tyrian (This is a great old-school top-down arcade shooter. Another worth downloading for sure.)
Tyrian... man the memories. Haven't played it in years but I can imagine it's held up well.
I only every played it when GOG.com gave it away for free a few months ago. I thought it aged extremely well and played swimmingly. I own shooting games for a bajillion systems (Amiga, Genesis, SNES, NES, TurboGrafx-16 & Duo, Saturn, Playstation, Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color, etc.) and Tyrian holds its own quite nicely.

One thing I loved when I installed this last Christmas was enabling Christmas mode. I had a "WTF" moment when it asked me, but went ahead and said okay. I didn't know what it did at first until I started to power up one of my weapons; I started to shoot candy canes! Small, but charming, detail :)

Here's a vid that shows some gameplay:

Thanks OP. It's cool to see another GOG-like site.
There is a section for free stuff, this is not it though.
Considering the deals exist for 24-hours per day for five days, it does belong here. Most people don't visit the free section.

Thanks! And yes, this is why I put this here versus the free section.

...S/he's still welcome, though ;D

I've always interpreted the free stuff section as free things that aren't gaming related. A free game is a cheapass game, therefore here it belongs.

Pffffffff complain elsewhere, don't be a jerk. It is a limited time free deal.
