Amazon is also running a promotion that if you tweet their @amazonvideo page you get a free $5 Video on Demand Credit making the first season of the Walking Dead $4.99 Here is a link to get the $5 credit. I just did this successfully and am downloading the first season. Time to cancel my pre-ordered blu-ray from Amazon until I can find it cheaper.

the HD stuff is as good as itunes video

That's pretty tempting to spend my $5 credit on. Thought about renting The Town and devil though since they won't be in Redbox for a bit. I dunno what to do. I'll mull on it.

Their HD is only available using special set top boxes, unless something has changed, and besides its $14.00 for the HD version:bomb:.

Then you are a fool.

Thanks for the tip, did this with my 0 follower twitter account :X

I'll be buying it when it comes out on blu-ray though, so I don't feel bad.

Went on and bit. I figure I can rent The Town when it comes out for a dollar. It'll be hard to find TWD any cheaper, and since I don't have a BBV anywhere near me I can't rent it.

Can't beat free, but even 5 bucks is a steal for this.

I've been mildly curious about the show. Now I have no excuse not to jump in.

Thanks, OP.

The show is kind of a huge letdown. The last episode makes no sense. At one minute theyre eating eggs, relaxing and then the next theyre panicking and trying to evade an explosion. the show suffered from lack of episodes to develop itself properly and at the same time wasting what they had on terrible plotting and character development.

Compare it to the short first season of nreaking bad which was brilliant in setting up everything and developing it's characters.

Well it's kinda unfair to compare it to Breaking Bad...BB is the best show on tv and the greatest show to come on tv since The Wire

I already have these DVR'd and saved. My question is, if you buy seasons or movies off Amazon like this are you able to burn them to DVD's to use as you please or is it something you can only keep on your computer.

And if so, can you re-download these movies and seasons as you please?

I know its unfair but since it has zombies which unlike vampires never get old and is created by frank dar...., I expected more. The first ep was great and then it just went nowhere and then the last half hour happened and it was like wtf?

It even had henry from portrait of a serial killer and the guy from jericho and it still kind of sucked.

Are you high?

Amazon's "HD" video is laughably bad. It's not even as good as YouTube. It's significantly lower bitrate (1.5 Mbps! Insanity) than iTunes (4 Mbps - more reasonable for 720p content using an H.264-based codec, but still too low). It even looks worse than Netflix's streaming crap.
Then you are a fool.
Nope, perhaps it is you who are the fool, as I am currently enjoying significantly higher quality 1080i HDTV captures of this show which were also, coincidentally, free! Imagine that!

Probably not since these crappy videos have some stupid DRM in them. I'm sure there's a way to bypass it but I've never cared enough to research how to do it when Amazon offers nothing that the iTunes Store doesn't and everything Amazon offers is lower quality.

I do know how to bypass iTunes' DRM though :D

Really if you've waited this long to start watching this show you should wait a few more months for the Blu-ray coming out in March.

why is it showing $9.99 for the season or $1.99 per episode for me? I did link the accounts and got the credit, now wondering whats up.

Haters gonna hate, but this show was amazing! I'll never forget watching the season finale, then playing Dead Nation on the PS3 right after, it was fun!

I think I still have some video credit from a previous Twitter thing, but I have friends who recorded the whole season so I'll probably just watch it there. Good post, though.

Comparing a zombie apocalyptic show to a drug show? and the finale make perfect sense, if you actually paid attention you would of understood why they had to evacuate the building and get out.

Did you even watch the series or are you one of those kids who hates to hate?

Urgh ... I bought this and Amazon used my PROMOTIONAL CREDIT to buy it, not my VOD CREDIT. The promotional credit was valid on all purchases at Amazon, and my VOD credit is, of course, only valid on VOD purchases. Grrrrr.

I use the basis that its a show on amc, home of the brilliant bb and mad men. This show strived for their artistic perfection but with a zombie story. I only brought up bb because its first season had as many episodes but it they were so much better.

I watched this show twice but it failed to move me and the ending seemed so out of place for the tone they built up for the episode. Had they not wasted so much time going back to atlanta used it with that storyline it would have been effective.

I don't love to hate. I want to like things. the show could get better, i'm optimistic.

I kinda disagree. They decided to pack and get to that center (I forget what it was called) because the zombies had found out their camping location and they thought that they'd have some sort of safety once they got there.

Unfortunately for them, that place was running low on juice and they had to get out of there. It all kinda made sense. BUT I felt like they just kinda pushed that through as a plot device, as an unobtanium.

What I really didn't like was... wth happened to Merle? We know that he cut off his hand and took the van but then... he just sorta faded away into oblivion. I haven't read the original comic so I have no idea. But still. It was really unexplained and they made a HUGE deal out of getting him back in the 4th, or was it 3rd, episode.

Other than that, I was fairly satisfied with the series.

Edit: Oh, and I think the promotion is DEAD (keke). You can't get it for $5 anymore and now it's back at the full $9.99 price.

Of course Merle will be a plot point in Season 2. Without getting into spoilers, suffice it to say that things have departed a bit from the comic, but the broader arc is on course.

Fair enough. I was burned by the last season of lost so i'm kind of apprehensive with tv now.

This season just needed more episodes because it didn't feel like much was developed.

This show is good stuff! Even though I love zombie flicks I actually wasn't going to watch this show because I've never been a fan of AMC. After a couple friends started raving about it I watched the first few episodes online and kept watching after that.

Also a month ago AMC started showing two Breaking Bad episodes every Wednesday night starting with the pilot. I'm not sure if they are going to go all the way through season 3 but I sure hope so cuz this show is good stuff too. I hadn't even heard about Breaking Bad until I saw The Walking Dead so I have to thank one show for getting me into another lol.

Where the fuck do my posts keep going? I posted this yesterday and now it's mysteriously missing without any information as to why whatsoever. God, this forum has horrible mods. I don't appreciate spending my time typing all this shit up just to have it so carelessly removed. So I am REPOSTING IT. Hell yeah bitches! Who knows how much good stuff gets posted to this forum and then quietly censored away because of obnoxious mods.

I remember back when TV had some scruples they would have called this a Mini-series. 1st night = 2 hour premier, next 4 nights = regular episodes. One week: done.

If it went well, it would eventually turn into a regular show.
