Just got an email from MS. If you download The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC (1600 MS Points) between now and 12/16/09 you can get 400 MS points back.
Check your spam folder if you didn't get it, as one of my accounts that only loaded GTA IV got it a short while later.

IMAGE with link to content and email sharing option. Xbox support says if you email is in the system then you will get the points back. You could email yourself and take a chance.

Interesting, haven't received the email, but if I do get it I am so buying this. I wonder if they are just sending the email to people that bought TLAD from the dashboard? I bought my DLC from Best Buy so I might not get the promo

I got the email, but there was no offer of 400 points back. I'm guessing this is only for people that have previously downloaded The Lost and the Damned, but don't know.

I also received an email about TBoGT with no such deal, but I bought TLaD, and I'm a rewards member.
 
Damn, I hope I get this e-mail. I bought LATD, but I still haven't finished GTA4 yet... I would buy Gay Tony for 400 point discount.

Edit: I just remembered that I bought LATD from Amazon via a code card, so they probably won't send it to me.
 
i got the email today. i went ahead and bought it from my iphone since I was bored during intermission at a musical. ;-)
 
Bought TLaD with points and got this email. Loved TLaD but was thinking of skipping 'Ballad' cause they went all San Andreas over-the-top. However, a 400pt rebate coupled with a 13 buck 1600pt card from MicroCenter makes this pretty much a no brainer. Dont know when I'll actually play it though...

Believe me, they didn't "forget about early adopters" -- they were happy to have you pay retail and you were happy to be playing the game on release day. RockStar is just doing what nearly every product manufacturer in the world has for decades -- business. As in you start selling your product at a price point you think will work, and then later you discount it to pick up more sales from people who don't value the product quite as highly (or are willing to wait for the price to come down, which they know it will because that's how it works).

So I'm not sure I see the problem!

You have to wait 4-6 weeks after the promotional period ends according to the fine print. So start worrying at the end of January if it hasn't shown up.

Well, I forwarded the email to myself from the OP's link. We'll see what happens. I was going to DL this anyway, so 400 spacebucks is gravy.
 
I got this email, and I have not played GTA4 on any gamertag, and i have consequently not purchased any of the DLC... i'm highly tempted though, since i DID buy the game for 10$ from walmart last friday.

My friend assures me that the DLC is awsome, and my wallet assures me i shouldn't be spending so much.

Also a question... can you buy each of the DLCs and recieve the 400pts for each one? (making it 30$ for all instead of 40$)
 
The DLC has been pretty good so far. So long as you are a fan of GTA, then you'll like it. Lost and the Damned had some fun moments in the story and BOGT was pretty funny so far. I am almost done with that, but my free time has been spent on CoD MW2. Of course, that's to CAG, I now have a ton of new games coming my way. Yay! I've spent $100 in the last day and a half... my girlfriend would kill me, except I plan to lie :)

Edit: Nothing... weak. I even paid full price for Lost & Damned. Maybe they're banking on me doing it again.
 
I forwarded the e-mail to myself(came from link in OP) and purchased. I will hopefully get the 400 points eventually. 2 gig, thank god I have an Elite.
 
^it was 1200 points. this will take at least 4-5 months easy before going on sale and when it does it'll probably be 1200 points anyways so it's better just to get this. penny arcade 1 is 1600 and dotw made it 1200 points so there's a pattern..

Thanks for the info, wasn't sure if it had been 1200 or 800
