Dragon Age Awakening Xbox install

CAGiversary!
I have been searching around and haven't found and answer:

So if I buy the DA:O Awakening disc can I install it to the Xbox hard drive and not use it any more. I know some of you guys have so what's the answer?

Thanks.

No. Unlike the Oblivion and Fallout 3 disc expansion packs (and unlike the PC version) the console versions of Awakening are essentially a stand-alone product. The downside is that you must keep the disk, the up side is that you do not need the original game to play (if you sold it or something).

Thank you Mr. Bob! I have been looking for this answer everywhere. I guess I will just download it then (just didn't want to wait that long). It's a weird that it won't let you install to the hard drive, but I guess that prevents resale and sharing.

I think I misunderstood your question then. You CAN install the disk version to the hard drive if that's what you're worried about, but there is still a disk check involved which means you need to have access to the Awakening disk whenever you want to play.

It's not like the Oblivion expansion pack where people just borrowed the expansion disk from someone else, copied the data to the hard drive, and then used their standard Oblivion disk to play all the new content - without ever needing the expansion disk ever again.

It is essentially marketed towards those who want a physical copy or those with small hard drives (mine is only 20 gb, so I prefer a retail copy in most cases)
