Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker -General Discussion
found bug

if you put a monster to sleep and kill it then run into the same monster sometimes that new monster is still SLEEPING even without casting sleep spell

so far its about 80% of the time i found it works
I'm almost certain that's not a bug. I've run into plenty of sleeping monsters (and i don't have any sleep spells) and they've all been at night time, so I'm assuming that at night you'll encounter monster parties with sleeping monsters in them.

Brought this game today, I plan on starting it sometime this week. From what i've read and seen it looks like it will be very enjoyable.

this was during the day. will have to check again tonight when i play it

funny thing is why would the monsters be walking around if they are sleeping : )

EDIT

MY FAULT it is at night i find them sleeping

just picked up my 3rd crystal at 10:14 time play. im breeding alot and just found the 3rd cystal

WOOOO I finally got a Green dragon with Fire breath that can hit all 3 monsters at once. Now only if his MP didnt suck (fire breath takes 3 mp while the dragon only has 18 max mp

meaning 6 spells then im out of mp)

Man i love this game. LOL the game cost me another 5 bucks cause i rented zelda for 5 bucks friday and never played it yet. and probally never will how badly im hooked on this game

man i must be doing something wrong

I just got the 4th crystal and moved to the 3rd island

LEVEL C ??

yet all my monsters are getting killed

also anyone else finding it harder to scout monsters and getting the

+

almost ever monster i scout turns out to be -

I got a healer and 2 dragons in my party woo hopefully this makes island C easier

I just got this game today as a late gift from a friend it's pretty fun so far i'm on infant island for the first time going to the top of the mountain also I couldn't name my Draky Midnight. >.

I couldn't name him Dracula or Bracula... Wierd...

Anyway, I put 2 hours into it today while my wife was being induced for labor (she was reading and watching TV herself). Though that ended up not going so well (they sent us home to try again next week) at least I finally got to start a new DS game and found it quite enjoyable. I may play it a bit now before bed.

I just picked this up.

it is my first DQM game.

needless to say, im a little overwhelmed, i guess.

my first question is, if you need to weaken the monsters you want to capture, like in pokemon before you capture them. Maybe its just bc im on the first island, but it seems like i either have to scout them, and that rarely works, or i have to attack them and they die after 1 hit...

also, each monster has 2 "evolutions", right? so should i start catching 2 of each monster?

to answer your first question, you don't need to weaken monster to catch them. you just need to hit "scout" on the in battle menu and hope it works (the higher level your monsters and better trained they are, the better chance you have of catching a monster.)

to answer the second question (if you where asking one) is that monsters don't "evolve" or change for from leveling up/gaining a certain amount of experience. to get new and more powerful monsters, you breed monsters. any two monsters can breed together (they obviously must be male/female) to get a completely new monster (or sometimes produce the same monster but more powerful.)

Here's a good tip for scouting: There's a little more to it than hitting the scout button. Cast "Oomph" on your characters and psyche them up as much as possible if you want a decent chance of catching a high-level monster. This is a waste of time for regular monsters, but for ones like the Gigantes on the first island and such, it's necessary unless your characters are very powerful.

I'm on Celeste Isle now. I am liking the game quite a bit. I synthed an Abyss Crawler with Boom, Swoosh, Fire and Ice Breath, and some other offensive spells. He also has high HP. :D

yea i found that out. i got 3 monsters that i just get their tension up to 100 then scout to try to get monsters to breed. I ususally dont use those 3 to fight or anything just to scout monsters

How many save game files can you have? I ask this since I may have others that want to play also and DQ: Rocket Slime only allowed 1 file.

Thanks
there are 3 save game files iirc
only 1 save here

30 hours into the game and still on Island b? with the 3rd shirne.

only got 5 cystals so probally missed something SOB LOL

starting to get bored after 30 hours now

Just got mine yesterday :) Haven't had muchplay time, but so far it's enjoyable. I'm sure it will be better when I get better monsters/stats. :)

fuck, the sentry on the third island is frigging hard as fuck (same with the dragon sitting on the third floor that I can barely put a scratch on). I'm gonna have to do some serious level grinding.

My party is: Healslime Lv 14, the dog thing Lv 15 and the platypunk Lv 15

The problem isn't your levels, it's that you need higher rank monsters. Do some synthesizing (and then grinding of your new monsters) and you should be fine.

ah fuck, didn't even think of that. Thanks

is it just me, or does anyone else not really care about the "king" family monster that you get (the god creature)? mine is in his
ape
form and I'm a little stuck at the moment. but he's just not as strong/comparable as the other monsters that I currently have in my party.
